This is an amazing review. I haven’t found a detailed and comprehensive review of this jacket yet until now. Thank you so much for going into detail on the construction and measurements.

I bought this jacket in oak 3-4 months ago, and I love it. I am sort of wishing I got a L instead of an XL though. I was around 240lbs when I ordered it. I am 5’10, larger chest and wide shoulders, and it was just barely too big when I got it, but I kept it and it wore in nicely. But I’ve lost 20lbs since I ordered it, and now it is larger than I’d like. I just ordered their CD4 in XL, so hopefully their recommendation of sizing up is correct, because I really want something that’s closer to a large. The 10oz waxed canvas it’s made of is incredible. Easily the most durable outerwear I’ve used. I load, strap and drive a flatbed truck, in all weather. Just a couple weeks ago it was a steady rain for my whole shift, and of course it was a busy day. The jacket was completely soaked within the first half hour of loading, but I was inside dry and mostly warm(it was 40F out). I was very impressed. I expected the water to eventually get in, but after hours of being soaked, no water was touching me. The jacket was completely saturated though, as you’d expect. When I first got the jacket I put some wax on the shoulders and top of the arms because I expected to be using it as a work jacket, but I think that was unnecessary. Other gripe is the buttons. They catch on completely everything, all the time. I’m afraid I’m going to rip one off. They look good, but I’d much rather have a zipper for my work jacket. I am sure that not many people are beating on their $450 jacket like I am though, so it’s probably not meant for what I’m doing. Hoping the cd4 with its wool/alpaca lining and zipper will be my perfect work jacket.

Also, the chest pockets should have rivets in the corners, in my opinion. I carry my phone in one, and it got caught on the bed of the truck when I was standing up, and really yanked on the pocket and now I can see some of the threads between the pocket and jacket itself. It’s still solid but that’s another point I worry about. I may install some copper rivets myself eventually to reinforce that area.

Hi!! I totally agree with you in every point

@@UrbanLadUKI’ve been wearing the cd4 for three days now…it’s tight. Was very snug the first day wearing it zipped up. The fabric it’s made of has a lot more give than the waxed fabrics. It’s more similar to a coarse Jean denim. I’m a big fan, but it’s pretty tight in the shoulders. I can’t really drive with it comfortably zipped up. Feels like I’m going to tear a seam…lol. The lining is very nice. Doesn’t seem like it’s going to fall out like cheaper “fur” or sherpa lining. Really warm. Was 15F with wind yesterday and I was comfortable with a t shirt underneath.

Great review. I just got one of these and am even more impressed with it than I was after watching your review. I could not try on before buying, and for that reason I was a bit worried about the fit between size Medium and size Large. I stand 5'7" tall (short torso), weigh 175 lbs, have broad shoulders and a 43" chest. I went with size Large and am glad I did---the jacket fits me quite well, with room to layer, yet does not look or feel baggy. Sleeves are perfect length. Life is good. One small request: please offer your height/weight/chest size in both kg and lbs rather than sometimes only one or the other. Thank you.

Well done Diego and excellent review. That is a great looking jacket. I recently picked up the Rogue Territory Supply Jacket. I've not seen any reviews of the lined version, which would seem to be more comparable to your Freenote RJ1. It would be great to see a comparo of the RJ1, the Rogue Supply, the Filson lined tin cloth, the Flint & Tinder flannel lined and the Thursday Field lined jacket. I really appreciate your attention to the details of construction, build quality and fit.

Thank you!!! I will try to put together a review of those jackets; the only exception is the Fison in the UK is too expensive, and paying the tax import makes an even worse amount; when I fly to the USA, I definitely pick one 👍

Honestly, as much as I like this jacket on you, I think it's a bit oversized. That's cool, you can layer further but as it is with that IH flannel, it looks a bit big---you could plausibly size down. This is an excellent review (as are all of your reviews) and you give this jacket its due.

Hi!! Thank you for watching!!! I have tried smaller size, but it was tight in the chest, this is a boxy fit so I picked this one
@blueband8114 Жыл бұрын
Its a very nice jacket. Better to me, than the Rogue territory. The front pleats, and the extra room in the shoulder via the gussets all add another level to it.
@UrbanLadUK Жыл бұрын
I believe so, but the concept of this jacket is very different to RgT. RgT is a fashionable jacket; on the other hand, the RJ-1 is more functional
@casuallyworked Жыл бұрын
having owned both I agree the RJ1 just feels and look more premium. The RGT is great as well. I sold my RJ1 solely due to fit, the small was too small in the armhole and medium too large. A RGT medium fit perfect
