"The key to unpredictability is not making your decision spontaneaus. it's about having a wide range of skills that you can use at any moment you want." that is by far the best thing i have heard this whole year. This is probably the key to creativity in all possible fields as well. it's about building up a skillset that you can pull from in many situations that enables you to be creative. Thanks for that!
@Night_Hawk_4753 жыл бұрын
I think I'd expand this and add a "third bucket" for "reachability" too. Encompassing things like "how well was the shot placed?" (and sometimes middle of the net shots are better than top corner! it depends on several factors), "do you leave yourself in a position to bump the defender after you start the shot?", "was the shot put behind or in front of a defender who's in the middle of the net?" You said bump plays should be their own thing, but I think adding in this extra metric lets you incorporate them into this model and also will let you describe this extra bit of information that really is important for regular shots too. Even if a shot is very readable, having it be in an awkward place to reach can still make a shot great, regardless of power. (be it because of how the defender was positioned at the start of the play, because it's just a naturally awkward part of the net, or because you're going to get between the defender and that part of the net)
@Herosoyyo22 жыл бұрын
Yeah, maybe I was expecting too much but in truth, there's very important factors not mentioned here. Bumps are not a "separate thing", for starters, but more to the point, you pay a price in boost, position and time for every shot you take. In high level 1s, it can easily be seen that some players shoot more to score and some shoot more to keep possession / improve their position relative to their opponent. They take "bad" shots, by this metric, but pay a very low price and take lots of them. Those shots are strong and viable in every mode at every level, but definitely not because they're unreadable or super fast.

The one thing that I think you failed to mention is the importance of consistency. Yeah you can generate a lot of power, time your shots well, and score in a variety of ways, but in order to be a truly elite scorer you have to eliminate errors. I know its something that generally goes without saying, but I think an all encompassing shooting guide could use mentioning it. Very good video, some points I would add: -Ability to read the defenders is very important. Certain shots are going to work better depending on where they are, where their car is pointing and so on, and this is very important. Bad shots can become good shots and vice versa because of this. -Going for shots with low time and low readability often carries risk of missing. So actually what you want to do is maximise time and readability whilst still doing enough to score. Or to put it another way, you want to take the easiest shot you possibly can whilst still making sure you score. There's a balance to be had here, and that balance trends more towards taking the best shot (with the lowest time and readability) you can the higher ranked you get, of course. -The skill of "creativity" is slightly deceivingly named, because it depends as much on your mechanical ability as your actual creativity. I'm a Champion player stuck with a really bad skill-set, can't double-tap, can't ceiling shot, can't flip reset, can't air dribble, and so on and so on. I don't lack the creativity to see these options as they arise, but I do lack the ability to deliver and so I'm forced to choose from a very generic and readable selection of shots due to my mechanics. It comes to the same thing, but it shows where the work needs to be done.

I would add having multiple options from your touches. When you do that successfully you can make your enemy have to guess what you're going to do. A boost and positional advantage (bounce dribbling counter to shadow) makes this more powerful as well. Also finding the sweet spot between a post and out and your opponent saving it is really important for consistency as well.

This was a really good video in all senses of the words "really good". Super comprehensive video and it breaks down the shooting aspect of rocket league really well. Great job bud!

Really well explained. Great job with the analogies with the time and readability too. SOO EZ TO UNDERSTAND

Another great way to tell if you're striking the ball well is if the ball spins or not. A knuckle ball looking shot with no spin at all means you drilled it right through the center. Any spin on the ball indicates you hit it off center, which will lose you power

This is one of the best rocket league videos I’ve ever watched

I love the knowledge and the fact the training pack is explained. I always find myself doing some training and just unsure of how to attempt it!

This is such a good video to the point that rocket league says its to good and gives me a rocket league ad. 📯

The only thing I would add is Placement! Far post vs near post, Top/bottom corners, and how to choose based on your opponents position and speed. This video is amazing and I will definitely be sending to the homies.

Very helpful, as somebody who isn't very high ranked, I can still win games where I am, but I have no creativity, it's just the fact the enemies don't know how to read, so I'll work on creativity
