I love, love, love this tag! Cousin Bette is on my TBR and you've made me very curious about Generation Loss. Just mention Patti Smith, and I'm there 😍 Vita Nostra is fantastic, I can't wait for the next book. Thank you so much for tagging me, look forward to do it. Lispector and Moomins for the win. Have a wonderful day 😊

Glad you liked it, Silje! I'm really curious about the next book in the Vita Nostra series--like, given how crazy the ending of the first book was, what can they possibly do to follow that up? RE: Generation Loss, I kind of envision Cass Neary as having the coolness of Patti Smith while also somehow being a terrible person.
@siljeblomst15 жыл бұрын
@@WeirdBookBookClub I know! The ending left me breathless. Generation Loss sounds very intriguing, not just because the Patti Smith coolness, but that adds to it 😄

I thank Shawn the Book Maniac for introducing your channel to me. Such fun. I'm abysmal at participating in tags and, like you, would wrench it into my own shape for my own purposes, so I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I'm now going to have to check out the Brontez Purnell book., because I guess I can, uh, you know, "relate."

Lol. Tootight Lautrec > Essence Jostle, no question. Thanks for checking out the channel--so glad you enjoyed! I hope you do give the tag a try and, please, wrench away!

I'm so so in love with this tag idea and will absolutely be making my own version soon. Vita Nostra sounds like the exact sory of dark violent academia I ALWAYS need in my life, and I'm constantly looking for funny books so Since I Laid My Burden Down has rocketed to the top of my tbr. I'm very excited that I found your channel!

So glad you liked it, Anna! Yeah, Vita Nostra completely worked as a standalone, imho, and if it ticks even one of your genre boxes you need to read it ASAP. Very curious what will happen next in the series (based on online descriptions, it looks like the setting will change from a university to a video game developer?) Also, the more people who read Brontez Purnell, the better the world will be. Please let me know your thoughts when/if you finish them.

I just discovered your channel through Shawn the Book Maniac's channel. So glad I did! I read Cousin Bette earlier this year and loved it. My favourite Balzac novel I've read so far.

So glad you enjoyed it! (Perhaps you'll consider giving this tag a try yourself?) Shawn has been so kind and supportive since I joined BookTube this year, I really can't thank him enough. Cousin Bette is definitely my favorite Balzac so far, too (the zanier, the better, I say--and this one really delivered.) I'm looking forward to exploring more of his Comédie Humaine books.

So I typically "watch" booktube while I put makeup on in the morning. That is to say, I usually don't watch at all, I listen. So imagine my surprise when I finally looked over around the 17 min mark and was like, what is going on with your shirt??? :D These are indeed hefty prompts and I will give them some thought!

Lol! It was a very slow-motion wardrobe malfunction, Laura. Hopefully you weren't too traumatized 😅. Looking forward to hearing your responses.

This is such a fun tag! We definitely do have some eerie similarities-- when I read the prompt for the first question Cousin Bette was the first thing that popped in my mind so I loved that's how you answered the prompt as well! Even though that whole book was ridiculous, I still wasn't prepared for the face melting to go down at the end of the book. How naive I was. Crevel's opening scene is also quite shameless as well! I also really liked Vita Nostra as well. I just overheard a person asking for a similar recommendation at the bookstore and the poor bookseller seemed way out of his depth, since there's really nothing quite like it. And since we have such aligned tastes I am excited about some of the books you mentioned that I haven't read yet (esp. the one by Brontez Purnell!) :)
@WeirdBookBookClub5 жыл бұрын
So glad you liked it, Alex! If you have the time and inclination, I'd be very curious to hear your thoughts on the other prompts. And of course, if you're ever looking to do a Balzac buddy read, I hope you think of me. (BTW, I too had gone through life blissfully unaware that face-melting was an option available to 19th century social schemers and I've never been quite the same since.)

I may try. I am a little booked up for reading (feels odd to say that! Hahah). Between readathons, readalongs, reading books for reviewing purposes for publishing companies and indie authors. I feel a little over whelmed air my reading at this moment! Hahha 😆

Thank you, Alex! I actually meant to tag you on this since I love all of your reviews, but didn't realize I'd accidentally skipped your name (and a few others) on my list until I started editing. All that to say, consider yourself "tagged in spirit." And if you do end up reading any of these recommendations, I'll be extremely curious to hear your thoughts.

@@WeirdBookBookClub When I watched this video for the second time to get all the book recommendations right, I watched it to the very end, instead of skipping the tagging part, like I usually do in tag videos. Hey, thanks for checking out the channel! Glad you enjoyed the discussion. Shawn has been super supportive since I started out earlier this year--really can't thank him enough. Honestly I’m not a huge fan of tags but they are a good way to get a sense of someone’s reading tastes. Book reviews are far superior but they don’t get enough attention
