i've revisited this interview several times now and it never gets any less interesting. joe seems like a really humble, cool guy with a great "no bullshit" attitude. i could listen to him tell stories for hours.

Love the interview. Hurts a bit to watch it. Joe and Roger working together in the 90s was an incredible synthesis that produced PROBABLY the best American noise at the time, and for a good amount of time afterward. The rebooted Macronympha has been great, Stella's solo stuff was always incredible, and of course the work they did together was, yes, legendary. Wish the final split after nff didn't happen but it did and there's a good chance what came out of their union couldn't have come out at any other time under any other circumstances. I think I have more Macronympha and Macro adjacent shit in my collection than any other project, and Macronymha - both then and now - is absolutely one of the top noise projects to ever exist. NOTHING MORE POWERFUL.

Good ol Joe! He should've talked about 'Casual Approach.' I saw Joe to a David Bowie tribute song in Pittsburgh the night after Bowie died. Classic!

Since he was mentioned, have you ever thought about interviewing Jacob of BacteriaField? He’s also been in a lot of power electronics projects, amazing ones at that, I think he’d be an amazing guest even though he tends to stay mostly anonymous

He has a really good point. I mean, there's only so much you can put into a mix before it's just literal hiss. And the human ear has only so much range before it's too high or too low to hear it. And you can have only so many breaks/cracks/pops in the texture before it becomes complete silence. We are all trying to find that sound and texture combination (and variety in that of) that tickles our ears just right. (sorry for the rambling lol)

Not as interesting as I thought it would be and it’s a shame because I worship macronympha but he came across a bit reductively simplistic. Maybe just an off day I guess macronympha still rules.
