Too expensive, too expensive, too expensive! The park tickets, the cheap merchandise, the unappetizing food, character meet and greets, hotel and resort rooms, and lightning lane are all way, way too expensive! Disney offers nothing to their loyal fans except an empty wallet when they leave the parks. I would be willing to put up with The Disney App, if everything didn't cost an arm and a leg. In my opinion, Universal, even before Epic Universe, was eating away at Disney World because they respect their customers and are not willing to put them in the poorhouse to visit their amusement park. I have stated this before, Disney's plan is to charge an extra fee to ride their most popular rides (Tron, Big Thunder, Tina's) at all times and that will be the end of Disney. They have already become a second best option as compared to Universal and Epic Universe will be the final nail in the coffin for them.

Disney is an amusement park that's it. If you put it up against the others it doesn't compare. My kids grew up at king's Island in Ohio. They much prefer real amusement parks like king's Island or cedar point. The coasters and rides the speed and Waterpark. Okay disney amusement park has what??? 50.00 admission unless you have season pass about 119.00 a person for the whole year how much is disney amusement park???? They wonder what is going on??? I knew people that went this last summer. $750 for 4 people to eat at the cheapest restaurant at dinner. $150 for snacks and drinks for 4. They said many attractions were "Temporarily Closed or under construction". Hotel and Airfares were insane. They were bored half the time and the majority of the time, they just walked and waited in lines. It was basically....They were there kinda feel. Did not enjoy as much as going to local amusement parks. Expensive merchandise they want you to buy. They'll never go back.

we own a timeshare right on Disney property but its owned by Wyndham. Its a great place for Universal Studios and Sea World visits. Disney as well if you want to. :) 2-4 bedroom units so much cheaper for a family.

The last time I heard there was an "attendance problem" at WDW, it was so busy at MK my family and I HAD TO LEAVE. We did nothing.....there was a 30 min wait FOR RESTROOMS. Buyer beware.....

We took our kids to Disney in Orlando in May 2000. The park wasn't as clean as it was when we went in the 80's.(Pre-kids) The staff wasn't friendly. The ride lines were too long for our kids. Food prices were outrageous. We left sweaty, grumpy, poorer and just all round disappointed in the trip. I told our kids "The next time you guys go to Disney it will be to take your own kids." We as parents paid too much for far too little. Funny thing is only one of our kids ever went back and they took their own. We haven't been back since....and that was 24 years ago. Universal is the park our adult kids enjoy....it's more geared for them.

I'm a DVC member and I'm thinking to sell. now. They have taken away a majority of the perks, it is a pain to have to "live" on an app in order to visit the parks and as retired military there are so many blackout dates now on the military tickets we can't get them for the times our grandkids are off, then to add on all the extras to the tickets for 6 people, it's beginning to not be worth it.

I was born and raised at WDW (my parents met there). I’m SO glad I was around for the Disney Renaissance, and fully believe that Disney peaked in the 90s. For years now, the quality has gone down while prices have gone up. I thought I’d do one big family reunion trip as a “goodbye to Disney,” but can’t bring myself to give them my money right now. Hopefully they come to their senses and right the ship soon.

I still cannot see what you see. I cannot get a reservation (retired cast member) and if I do get one it is busy (Epcot), resorts busy, Disney Springs is packed all the time. I must be able to see ghosts!?! Following wait times means nothing bc many people I know do not ride!!!!!!! We walk, look at entertainment, shop and have a meal. A friend went with his family recently and did not buy any fast pass or lightning lane. Everything was walk on except the attraction formerly known as Splash Mountain. They literally had no one riding but wouldn't allow those without lightning lane passes. No one was riding.

Some people think Disney is busier than it's ever been but it also only seems busy because of Disney's poor operations today. Lightning Lane also kills standby lines and they inflate wait times to get people buy LL which makes the lines worse.

I grew up going to Disneyland often. My bedroom was decorated in Disney even when I was in high school. I spent my graduation night at Disneyland. I took my college friends home from 3 states away so we could go to Disneyland. We had annual passes when my husband and I had young children. We acquired a huge Disney movie collection. Our girls had princess dresses and Disney themed birthday parties. It was all great. The last time we took our kids was about 10 years ago. It was so expensive and so crowded that it wasn't even fun. Like, at all. The kids liked universal studios so much better (which I never liked very much). And we've never gone back. Then Disney went woke. We canceled Disney plus and we'll never step foot in Disney again. Or buy any of their products. Disney used to stand for family values. They have abandoned that and only care about money. I won't participate.

I had an Econ class that included an exercise where we calculated the maximum revenue for a football game. The answer never came to filling the stadium. Charging more for smaller numbers earned more than charging less and filling the stadium. It didn’t factor in concession sells or the effect on the game and reputation of the program. Not saying that’s what Disney is doing but shouldn’t assume the higher price point with smaller crowds is a net loss As far as my experience: I had to watch videos to have a clue on how to navigate the system. MGM was a ghost town walking to Galaxy’s Edge. Was a bit of a disappointment though my son loved it. The crowd was older and rougher. Waded through racks of gay pride merch to get to a Mickey Mouse shirt I wanted to buy. We had more fun at Universal. My kids love Harry Potter. Saw more families and even a religious group of kids. Easier to navigate. More affordable

You can certainly get by without getting the Lightning Lane bs. I went 3 years ago during Presidents Day week and just did a 6 day, which wasn't much more than a 4 day and even with massive crowds I was able to get on everything I wanted to with some extra time to enjoy myself. Did not need to get Gene + and with some decent planning my waits for Ratatouille was 15 minutes and Rise of the Resistance was less than 45 minutes. Was pretty proud that I majorly won Disney that year.

So glad we did not purchase food plans! More than you can handle and expires when you leave. We were six people and spent about 800 on food for a 4-day weekend. But the most popular rides had long wait times mostly because of people purchasing the lighting passes. Some of them went multiple times before the average person in line.

Honestly, I think the appeal of "theme parks" in general is going by the wayside. There are barely any rides to have time to do, people are starting to NOT CARE about what your "theme" is, they're way out of town, and they cost wayyyy too much money. I'd rather drive a couple hours away to go to Dorney or Hershey Park. Heck, I'd even rather go to Dutch Wonder Land (which I guess you could consider a "theme park," but really, that's only because they have some cut-outs of Amish people and a fake cow to milk). Point being, most people want to go on rides, not be in an "immersive experience" that will up-price you out of your savings account.

They did tell some people to not come to their park, that they weren't welcome there, over half the country! So... labeling your customers horrible things didn't work out. We were upset we weren’t able to purchase the Lightning Lane pass for the day/park, but we noticed and even talked about how the wait times that were posted were very inaccurate, many were half the time posted! I even said to my daughter how we got lucky we didn’t pay for the pass. Parks Did look crowded, but our wait times didn’t reflect it.

I think it is the prices, and the predatory pricing strategy Disney has landed on. You can go there, buy the very expensive park tickets, but then you ALSO have to buy Genie+ and LL to TRY to get on the popular rides - and not even then are you guaranteed a spot. To keep on top of Genie updates, someone has to spend the day focused on their phone. You can't get restaurant reservations at any of the nicer restaurants - a complete pot shot - the nicer restaurants are fully booked before your 2 month window even opens up. We've tried twice since the Covid years - experience was miserable. Couldn't get on rides, all the old quiet spots are gone now - replaced by fast food and shops. Just not worth it.

I work with guests and LL almost daily. The question I have about LLPP is what is the cutoff to where it sells out. I think Disney just pushed the sell out story to create demand. LLPP is a way for Disney to faze out most of their VIP Guide Cast Members.

In 1998, we stayed at the campground for 8 nights...family of four with 3 Disney "adults" and one child. We had 5 day Park Hoppers, one day at Universal, and one sit down meal per day at a Table Service restaurant. It was $3600 and I came home with money. That included our travel and our spending money for things like souvenirs and me needing a scooter one day due to blisters. Today, at that same time, a campsite, meal plan, and park hopper tickets for that length of time is $7100 and that doesn't include spending or travel expenses. And wages have not doubled since 1998.

my last trip to Epcot. I had a Florida four day pass. I was told no more reservations route cast member told me I had to go on an app to make a reservation at the front gate. I stood there for 10 minutes trying to figure it out, finally went back and asked for supervisorand she did it for me in two seconds. Why would I come back there? I was in Epcot for four hours and there’s nothing to do. It’s the most boring place in the world now.

i went in oct 2020 and the wait times were long but only because they were trying some extreme distancing. grew up in So Cal and worked for disney in the store HQ and home video before. i had been to disneyland every year of my life and probably average 4 because i had the silver pass. and i went to a movie every week and never missed animation features. since covid, i almost never go to movies. they aren't compelling and too long. and i haven't been to disneyland since 2019. i do a cruise a year, so i still love the old stuff and they get money from me. but my consumer habits changed bigly.

If you put your 401(k) money in a broad mutual fund, odds are they own Disney stock and don't care about your opinion. BUT coming soon to a brokerage near you is SPXM, kind of an S&P index fund but one that doesn't put a penny in woke companies...or so I read. In fact similar funds exist already (e.g. MAGA) but MAGA's focus is buying stock in companies that primarily support Republicans for nationwide offices which, for me anyway, isn't quite what I want. No party has a monopoly on virtue, imo. But at least these funds give you an opportunity to vote with your dollars, just like we've had ESG funds for many yarn. Of course none of this is investment advice, just letting you know what's going on out there.

As a 40 year frequent Disney world visitor, I was there in Sept 2024, and thought to myself the wait times seem off (too long for reality). I hadn’t really considered there could be a nefarious reason to inflate them, but now I see it’s possible.

I don’t know about those numbers and have they came up with them. All I know is this. I’m a season passholder and I live 20 minutes away. I go a couple times a week. It’s crazy busy. My wife and I are always looking at the wait times to see if it’s a good time to go and never seems to be a good time to go. We go anyway.

I went last week. The weekends were packed and the magic kingdom Christmas party was sold out every night. The weekdays were less crowded but all the rides still had long lines (60 minutes plus).

They are entering a revenue spiral…once people recognize that they don’t need the LL passes, they will only go when there are big deals on hotel and ticket packages…and free dining. And, then they won’t buy the extras. So, Disney will go from getting full fare ticket prices and full fare hotel rates and full fare dining plan (or regular meal) prices plus all the Genie+ and LL purchases revenue to getting just the discounted hotel and ticket revenue. Without a new park to compete, they won’t recover.

Universal loves coming in second place to Disney, Moana 2 just got $54.5 million on Black Friday which means it earned $140 million in three days. Wicked in the same timeframe for its opening weekend only managed to get $114 million. In addition, yesterday was the fourth biggest day in theater history, for a grand whopping $108 million, most of that weight being carried by Moana 2, Wicked, and Spartacus the Sequel.

They're gonna tear up MK for a MUDPIT race track where the Riverboat sails. And in Hollywood Studios and demolish Muppetvision show for the Monsters land attraction. And Epcot is a complete mess of walls up. Rides not working. Test Track down til sometime in 2026. Resorts stripped of their elegant theming according to the structure, and Imagineers original theming. Animal Kingdom is destroying Dinosaur ride, and theming to teach kids about what used to roam earth. All 4 parks under construction. Ugh. . . . Lightning lane will never, ever be bought by me. I'll stand in line with the middle class grunts who've saved years to come.

There was absolutely reason to buy lightning lanes on Sunday (AK to HS) and Tuesday (Epcot to MK). And we couldn’t get any good ones because we stayed off property 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤬. I do realize that thanksgiving week is historically slammed. But I was hoping that with declining attendance the crowds would be lower. Wait times were accurate generally (flight of passage was accurate at 60 minutes Sunday morning) except during the Christmas party Tuesday night at MK. Then the ride wait times were inflated for sure. Example is tron. Posted wait 50 actually was 20-25.

Ive been a disney parks fan since 1975 and a wdw passholder the past 12 yrs living just down the street from disney. Im so done with them. Last week I flew to TN because i want some christmas cheer and tomorrow im going to Dollywood. She knows how to do Christmas right and its all included for everyone not just party goers. I cant wait to walk into her winter wonderland tomorrow 🥰🎄

Wait times tie heavily into the fast pass system. Disney is notorious for giving most of the ride capacity to fast pass, which creates very inflated numbers on wait times. People with fast pass wait say only a few minutes, where as others wait say 90 minutes because the line doesn't move. Well say there really is a true demand for the ride at full capacity and it does 2000 riders an hour with out fast pass that wait is evenly distributed to both groups.. but if 90 percent of the capacity is going to fast lane, only 200 riders from standby.. so if the line jumps to 90 minutes its only 100 more people vs 1000 so that isn't as big of a attendance decline as it looks. But with Disney changing how there fast system works a number of times over the last decade or so its really not comparing apples to apples, because the reality is someone who booked a ride because that was all that is available, because the big E Ticket items were full, wouldnt have waited an hour to ride it. Might not have even waited 20 minutes, so the demand goes down for that ride, because its no longer a replacement. Also with the restrictions on rides needing reservations you dont even get the true picture on demand with the popular rides.

I believe it wait times are inflated. Just there mid November and 30 minute average seems fair, but there were attractions like Flight of Passage that had 100 minute wait times but was maybe an hour tops?

I’m not there everyday but Monday last week attendance was at magic was 52k. It’s avg 30k a day but it still has some days where it done better than that. And people don’t pay for the magic kingdom ticket when there’s a party there that night. So I think u should see it day by day rather than an avg for the month w days with the parties. But yea it used to be 50k and over everyday before covid🤷‍♂️. All I’m saying is some days it’s busy, but a lot of days w the party it’s 30k and weekends it’s usually 30k to 40k

I think Disney management when Epoc opens will argue that there will be an initial hit because everyone will want to check out the shiny new thing, but that eventually the traffic will normalize again. The question is, of the Disney loss of traffic is permanent, how long can they het away with that excuse.

No wonder there is huge interest in Universal Orlando's _Incredible Universe_ despite the likely over US$100 per person cost per day.
