Just found you guys recently and I wanted to say thank you for the great content you're creating and for also sharing the problems you're facing. I was thinking about starting a small cutting board business but I just kept putting it off for a long time. Watching your videos and seeing your story was just the kick in the butt I needed. Why not... Minot? LOL! I was lucky and was stationed at Kadena AB in Okinawa, Japan for the seven years I was in the USAF. Good luck in the continued growth of your business! Three Air Force buddies and I have our own IT Consulting business and it's definitely scary moving from a guaranteed paycheck to a paycheck that only happens if you grow your business. From everything I've watched you guys do, it looks like you're making the right decisions for the right reasons. Keep it up!

When I was in the Army (probably about the time you were born), we calculated how much per hour we were making. We based it on a 24 hours a day schedule because we were on call 24 hours a day. Sad as it is, as a Specialist (E-4), it came to about 26 cents. I went to college, got a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (in 2 1/2 years raising 3 kids under 10 years old, mind you) and worked my way up in construction to a nice 6-figure salary. The thing is, I hate what I do for a living and whenever I get a new job I will counter the offer salary by raising it by 15% just because I'd have to schlep through the most annoying work in the world. I'd usually usually get a 10% bump which is what I was really after anyhow. I've been giving a lot of thought lately about this situation a lot lately. You know, thinking more about what I want to do with my life (I'm 54 now) as opposed to what I feel like what I have to do in order to sustain what we've become accustomed to. So that's kind of blocking my view of tomorrow. I don't see a way to get beyond this. I travel for at least a week every month and work 9 or 10 hours a day when I'm home. I've acquired some pretty decent woodworking skills (I actually had a wood shop class in college) and I am able to make a wide variety of projects. But, at this rate, I don't have enough time to actually try to sell anything because it would take forever to make anything. That's my sad story about not being able to do something I want to do. Anyway, I'll tag you in a 7 second video on Instagram of my latest and greatest that took 3 months to finish. I'm pretty happy with it. Y'all have a fantastic day in the sweltering heat in muggy old Houston (I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, so I know about the mugginess).

Cindy - I totally relate to your story - I wasn't in the military but am in an aimless - under appreciated dull-drum job and can't hardly stand it ---until I see my pay check! Money isn't everything, I know, but it sure is a lot - I am working on getting out of the grind and making at least some money woodworking - gotta make it the priority so I can leave my current position. Good luck to you - I hope you find your way as for me I'm going to make my way and get there in the next 12 months - that's my goal. :)

Hey, so I have that same dog toy. My guy likes to chew things, especially when unsupervised. He ate a part of that and it caused an intestinal obstruction. Fortunately he passed it (after multiple expensive vet visits). Highly recommend you don't leave your pup with that toy unsupervised.

Another GREAT video! I am happy for the growth you guys are experiencing . . . My workload recently took a turn that I never dreamed of - I've somehow become known as the workshop that can build stage backdrops for some pretty elaborate productions throughout the Houston/Clear Lake area! In fact, I'm being commissioned for projects well into 2023!!! These projects present a whole set of challenges I'm having to adapt to because the backdrops have to be portable, lightweight, and obviously they must be sturdy!

Very interesting video. I am five years away from retiring from teaching high school history (hit the 30 year mark this year). I got into woodworking about five years ago when my wife couldn’t get bids for a built-in For our house. I got hooked. I’ve gotten some interest from friends to build some tables for them. Problem is it takes a while to get it done due to other obligations. Has me thinking about pushing up the retirement date and see if I can make a go of it. Y’all doing this before having children (I am assuming that’s the case) is important because that becomes a huge factor in long term planning. Wish you success and fulfillment.

I needed this video 30 years ago..... to inspire me to go ahead with my dreams, but for that I would need that support from my other half which what was my fears for her was extreme panic, so a 40 hours job a week was and is my destiny, now close to retirement and building a few pieces of furniture to family members, a few boards for Christmas but at the end I know when I retire my garage will be my new domain.

I retired from AD, and I wished I had crossed over to NG/Reserves for my last tour. The adjustment was abrupt and hasn't been easy.
