I can't believe that places like this exist on our planet! Svalbard is breathtaking and all these summer colour's create an unbelievable scenery. This vlog is part 2 to our weekend at Tolmodbukta on Svalbard, where we meet up with the youtubers' Sailing Uma who have sailed from Norway to explore Svalbard! Grim has the BIGGEST SMILE I ever seen on a dog when he was coming back with Christoffer from his morning pee. You guys are such good doggie parents! I love Sailing Uma what a awesome get together! The swimming brings back memories of a polar plunge I did in Antarctica 🇦🇶. It was hard to catch my breath because it was so cold. The doctor on our trip brought a defibrillator along to the polar plunge 😱 Svalbard is now on my list to visit. I am shooting for a half marathon on every continent and Svalbard has a half/full marathon event. The terrain would be amazing!

I would be interested in watching an episode without any voice over at all. Just the sound of the waves against the boat, the wind and the birds, Grim singing the songs of his people and if you can get it, the cracking sound from the ice. Oh and the coffee maker doing its thing of course. Would be a very ASMR episode, but I think it could work?

Very interesting sedimentary geology . made up of ocean sediment , now rising out of the ocean as the glaciers melt . An odd concept to imagine but the land is “floating” upwards as the weight of glacial ice reduces. The piece of “ rock “you gave Christopher start to delaminates ( split) probably an oyster shell . The banded colours of sediment in the mountains are good indicators of age. Starting in the Cambrian ( at the bottom and probably below the sea ) - circa 500 million years ago. Enough geology great photography ! And spectacular summer weather !

One of these days I'm going to make a trip to Svalbard. It's absolutely beautiful there! Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be very easy to get there coming from the eastern US, according to the booking sites for flights that I've checked out!

Have you read H W Tilman's 'Triumph and Tribulation' ? - circumnavigating Svalbard under sail in 1974 - long before GPS or radios were available. Has a lovely description of finding your position by a sunsight at midnight - apparently not in all the textbooks 😃

That big white chunk you picked up is probably Anhydrite or Gypsum! :) Very common around that area of Svalbard.

The drone footage you took Cecilia was unbelievably stunning. I always sit here watching your videos and I am continuously shaking my head because the landscape is so stunning and I am so in awe of the beautiful scenery. I am also like you with reading. I lose myself in books and could read for hours. Unfortunately I work full time so read here and there whenever I can. I set myself reading challenges every year and this year was 60 books and am up to 91 already. Just love reading just about any kind of books and would be lost without them. I went to Iceland 30 years ago, there were quite a lot of mosquitos actually. There is a lake called "Myvatn" which means "mosquito lake" if I recall it correctly. If there aren't any currently, they must have been removed...
