Just what I needed to get us back on track. Mya has poor leash respect, very distracted. We went to the basement which has a slippery tile floor so I had never trained down there before. Toys and tuna treats as distractions. She got it after the first go round when she figured out the basement isn’t only for TV and snuggles. 🥰 She will do it with my husband as a distraction but needs work on other people and dogs.

This was one of the most useful videos I have seen as I go through training my puppy with McCann Dog’s Puppy Essentials program. The course is excellent, but the demo dogs are all complete angels. Chester’s run through was the most educational. My puppy does the scratching and the “floppy dog routine” a lot in the mornings when I am trying to get her to sit or not jump on me. I have been starting to suspect that they are avoidance behaviours but I didn’t know and I didn’t want to be mean to my dog so I’d wait until she was mostly done. Now I know that I can insist that she listen and it’s okay. My dog would probably lose her mind at just the kibble at this point. Seeing another dog and a person will definitely short circuit her cute little brain. Good to know that I just need to start very small and aim for the tiniest of tiny wins in a session.

Haha I know my dog would be completely disinterested in the dry snacks and toys, mildly distracted by the stuffed animal and ball and go really reactive to the other dogs while the person will probably get his more loving interest. Now me..I would be completely distracted by the lovely dogs. Ask any friend who ever went anywhere with me and we'd run into a dog
