One other thing to consider. This is MY opinion. I live on 60 acres in north east Texas, bought a house a WW2 vet built. He thought the end of the world was coming at Y2K and built a solid concrete house and apartment garage. I have a 6ft home made gate for my entry that is wrapped in that tiny sharp barb wire so no one can climb it. The road is 3 miles long and I have only 3 neighbors that live there and the rest is hunting camps for some city dwellers. I ha e wanted to post my place so bad because from a security and privacy standpoint it's really great. BUT just by posting pictures it KILLS YOUR SECURITY AND YOUR NO LONGER PRIVATE. A old neighbor where I moved from Did this KZbin stuff and the ones he was trying to catch were his subscribers so they stole his cameras.... My point is some stuff you should NOT record. Especially your entry and where cameras are. Most of all get your KIDS off the video. Geez there are real weirdos in this world.... and why I got off all social media. I feel for you but dude rethink what you show. Get with neighbors and build a real gate, it will cost but it will last generations. We live in a world where people THINK they have a right to do whatever and go wherever they WANT. Never give away your positions..... Good luck

I had a problem with people using a piece of my property as a lovers lane at night. In a low spot on the two track I dug a hole three feet wide and three feet long across from in each track. Then I put a few shovels of clay and overfilled them with water to make them look like a puddle. This spot was about 300 feet of the main road. In the evening I put a tow chain on the back of my tractor and parked in the woods a short way off the other side of the main posted road. When the trespassers would pull in, they would drop in what they thought was a two inch deep puddle. Even the four wheel drives were stuck. I would back the tractor up to the back of their car and offer to pull them out for $20.00, or call the police on them. I collected $180.00 the night (Friday). The second night (Saturday) I had one guy give me a little hard tine, so I upped his price to $15.00 and my nights take ended up at $145.00. Night three $40.00 (Sunday). My weekends were busy for five weeks and then word must have spread, because my good income dropped of to zero. I rerun my tow business each summer for three or four times. It still brings in good spending money after doing it for five years.

The sings are used to ensure your lawful safety along with if someone were to enter and you call the sheriff or your local pd they will issue a warning to the trespasser saying if you enter this property without permission again you will be arrested and I believe where he lives they have passed a law where if your a third time trespassing offender it’s a felony charge

Police in most places won't do anything anymore unless it's an easy ticket for them to profit. In the oilfields there are private roads that need to be accessed by multiple ranchers and oil companies so what they do is build a gate and a locking system that uses a rotating latch. The only way to undo the latch is to remove one of the padlocks blocking the whole cut in the base plate. Each landowner and company has their own lock. It's very effective. Very simple and super sturdy.

You can also look into something like MURS radio which is a very short range radio system that can be deployed with programmable motion detectors so that you can be alerted to which sensors are being tripped. Im not sure exactly what kind of distances you are looking at securing, but this is an option you should look into. Knowing when they are there will really help you respond and know when to check your cams for evidence. Also get an old car hood from a junk yard and spray paint a sign on it. Something sloppy and mispelled like 'your not lost, your trasspassing, then drill some randomly grouped holes in it to look like it was shot with a shotgun or if you are feeling froggy, shoot it with a shotgun and then hang it up in a very easy to see spot.

I've played around in my Jeep on county dirt roads (never private) and it didn't occur to me that I was potentially damaging someone's daily drive road. I'll not be doing that again. I'm not sure what, if any, reception you might have out there, but have you thought of repurposing an old cell phone for surveillance? You can get immediate motion alerts and watch live video from an old cell phone if you have connectivity. If you don't have cell coverage, an investment in wide area broadband might be something to look into for that (and other) sensors.

On my buddy's farm, way back at the fence line in the woods, there was an old abandoned logging road that crossed his property. Even tho it was mostly overgrown, kids on ATVs would ride it right up to the fence. After a while, they started bringing wire cutters and they'd drive thru the property and a few times, across his fields of crops. We'd keep fixing the fence and they kept cutting it for about a year. We put an end to it when we dug trenches and laid logs across the road. We dug a trench, went up 6-10 ft and laid a log, trench, log, trench for over 100 ft. It pretty much closed off that road permanently and the ATV kids went somewhere else to become someone else's problem. I don't think you can do this on an easement road but it's just an idea if you ever need it within your own property.

The easement goes through all of their properties and connects to an easement through forest land on one side and a public dirt road on the other.
@thomasstephens15986 жыл бұрын
Hey I don't know if you will read this but I went through the same thing and my advice is to document everything and fallow up with it. you have signs that say trespassers will be prosecuted you need to file those charges. Don't be a nice guy when it comes to your property. These people if give them an inch they will a mile. My neighbor had a land locked plot of land behind mine and cut a path to it through my property at first I thought he was just being a nice guy but when I talked to my Lawyer he told that if let him do that he could establish a right of way by letting him maintain it. Take it for what it's worth but that's how I won my battle.

Now I'm not saying that anyone should do this but I do know one guy that got tired of someone driving on his property all the time so he took the sickle out of an old mower and welded a couple steel rods, one on each end (they were about 18" long). He then dug a small trench across where the offenders would drive then placed the sickle over the trench and drove the sickle down into the ground until the sections were about level with the ground. Then he covered it with some soft soil and grass to hide it. A few days later there was a jeep with 4 flat tires. They never came back. You can even to just a a foot or so of the mower on the side of a road then bait the location with something like a sign or something that you think will draw them to drive over it. Everyone else who is not doing this kind of thing wouldn't drive there so it would be fine. You can also tell the neighbors. Overall, there are very effective solutions.
@girunit13876 жыл бұрын
You and your community should get together and put dirt colored spike strips. Flatten all four of the trespassers tires at once. If all of you know where they are you can move them when you use the road. Its a hassle, but at least people will be taught a lesson for their crime.

On land I've leased for 8 years, and told the road is private but maintained by local government road-grader(s), we can not make people leave. So if your road has a county or state road-grader that scrapes it from time to time, you may not have the rights/authority to ask them to leave. You might look into it.

On the property we had in Northern Michigan we had the same issue... Our solution was to sit down with all the land owners along our access road... My brother then built a heavy steel gate at the very front of the road with permission of everyone that had access on that road... We then gave every land owner a couple sets of keys to the gate.. We also pulled a large amount of downed trees and brush on each side of the gate so that smaller ATV's could not go around it then placed 2 trail cams watching the gate ...

It can also be poachers. I've had land hit a number of times, and my parents land (and their neighbors land) gets hit. They'll come in the middle of the night, spotlight, shoot, grab, and be out of there lickety-split. I've found hidden deer stands setup on neighbor's properties overlooking my property. I had similar problems a few years ago the trail cameras are a perfect idea one of the things I did also was put up a solar powered electric fence unit and wired it to the cable and the gate and place the camera so that it would be able to see the car and the people when they get out to open the gate they will get a small zap from the solar power electrical unit but when that happens they stop and you can get a good picture of them that stopped the people that I had coming through from coming back after they got that little shock there were about eight different people that kept coming and after they got zapped and realized they had their picture taken they quit coming back. Either way with the camera or in person I hope you can catch them and put a stop to it it is not fun I know that good luck to you if there's anything we can do to help let us know

I would recommend that you get three more cameras. Only these cameras are connected remotely to your computer and you can hide them at about 8 feet high and just off the road. They can be night vision. You can put them somewhere on the road coming and going to get a photograph of the driver and license plate. This way you can sit at home on your computer and fast forward and it is automatically saved to the cloud. The trail cameras are good too but you won't be able to get a clear live shot. The computer cameras will alert you as to any funny business on your road as well as trespassers, illegal dumping of horsing-around on your property not just in front of your roadblock. I caught this house painter dumping his paint buckets on my property. He was doing texting coating. This is a latex type of painting that provides a latex coat to the house. Anyway, not only did I get a photograph of him dumping his crap on my property; but, I caught him vandalizing my property on top of his illegal dumping. It cost him $100,000.00 for illegal dumping and violating the EPA laws; but, an extra $20.000.00 for the vandalizing of my property, plus court cost. Needless to say, he went out of business because his insurance company dropped him after his conviction. It took me a month to remove the rubberized latex crap that he had dumped on my property and the repair to my gate. I used both computer cameras, and trail cameras. What one missed, the other was able to pick up. Use both - trust me, well worth the extra peace of mind.

It all depends on where you live and if the right of way is public or private. If you happen to live in Idaho as an example, dumping on a public right of way easement is illegal under 18-3906 and repeated dumping is subject to jail time. However, the important thing to note is that if you turn in someone for dumping, even if its their first time, you get to collect on their fine. That means you need enough information and a report to law enforcement. If there is a loss or cost involved with clean up, the trespasser has to pay per 19-5304. If the court orders clean up, then the owner can provide permission (and watch the trespasser clean it up) under 18-7031 while under guard by a deputy or other court appointed officer. Dumping within any part of the easement (not necessarily the road) falls under the definition of dumping. What if someone else is just riding their ATV on your property for fun? Any harm in letting them go? If they do it for long enough, they can then get a prescriptive easement and have a legal right to run up and down your property all they want. If the right of way is private and exclusive, then 6-202 applies instead of 18-3906. If the right of way is private, then both sides should be posted and enforced in accordance with 18-7008 and 18-7012 (illegal to take down or cut wire properly installed to bar entry). You can check with a local attorney, but many locations allow for locked gates across private rights of way if all the owners agree and have keys. If it was me, I'd put up cameras watching the cameras and providing views coming and going. Just sayin ...

I know a guy that has part ownership of a private dirt road and they have 2 gates that meet in the middle. The gates are locked up with 4 or 5 different padlocks(1 for each owner) and I understand that works well. With technology maybe an automatic opening gate triggered by a text from a cell phone to open and close is a possibility. Change the password once a month, but keep it simple for those of you who are owners, or maybe it will only recognize certain phone numbers of the owners. Take care and GOD BLESS
