The way you integrated the Skillshare ad into your video was SO seamlessly well done! An ad agency should hire you two to do their ads (remotely, of course). Your editing has become so professional over the years. Amazing. And oh, Kika, you're so darned cute! And Dan, is also a handsome dude, and lucky. You're such a great couple, intelligent, resourceful, etc. etc. I can say those things, cuz I'm just old (77, unfortunately). Thank you for sharing your amazing life with us. If I may suggest: when running a line to shore it is a good practice somewhere in the middle to place a plastic bottle with the rope passing trough. In this way if any animal (e.g. rat) starts walking on the rope will simply fall in the water without reaching the boat. Hope it will be useful for you not to have unexpected guests

In BC I usually try to run the line to shore and back to the boat so it's easier to leave, but I am also probably a lot closer to shore and the Province has put in a lot of metal rings to stop people from tying to the trees and scraping the bark off. Anchoring close to shore definitely makes me nervous, but it can't be helped when there are several boats trying to share a small bay, or the water gets deep very quickly. I am really liking seeing Norway the Uma way. I am dreaming and you are doing

This is just so well done. It's a brilliant concept that captivates but frees people who watch and follow. This doesn't come from anyone deprived--retired 63 year old climbing guide, all over the country and parts of our intriguing world. Born abroad, raised on and in the water and so happy to be able to go back to it (in the flesh, not just virtually!) after a new ankle and having to see my dream climbs from a distance. I recognize the real deal when I see it, even if marketed and merchandised! It's what brings you to me and vice versa. Saving the concept of beneficial social media into the bargain! Stay safe, keep it smooth and mellow.

@SailingUma4 жыл бұрын
Yup. Already use a webbing loop for the trees. We slack line, rock climb and have set up hammocks for years. We know the drill. As for rocks, yes, the plan is to get something a bit more durable. Not sure it will be chain though.

21:45 - The music is in the same key as the shock cords!!! Okay, so maybe not. Nice to see the trials of anchoring (and using stern lines) which is very practical for all of us. Dan and Kika, can you guys compare your Rocna to a Mantus? Haven't actually used either one, my last anchor purchase was a Fortress for a small boat where weight and size was a big issue. Thanks!
@SailingUma4 жыл бұрын
Rocna at Mantus will set and function exactly the same. Each will fit a bit differently on the bow, so it's worth looking into both. We like the simplicity of the welded rocna vs the bolted together mantus. But the mantus makes for a great 2nd or stern anchor since it can be stored flat.
@rickemmet11044 жыл бұрын
@@SailingUma Thanks guys, good to know! Some people prefer one over the other and wouldn't use their less favorite if it were all they had. Do like the idea of a large Mantus stowed away as a storm anchor. And the Fortress can be taken out on a dinghy for kedging, so also useful.
@johannesborg8134 жыл бұрын
As I've seen some people comment, I'd also recommend having an aftward anchor, then your rudder doesn't snap if you accidentally lose anchor grip or are a bit to quick heading to shore. Maybe also look into getting a "Bruce" anchor, they bite on just about everything, as long as it isn't sand. Love your videos, and your interior work! Hoppas ni kommer till Sverige härnäst :-) All boats I have been aboard have had a rear "ankarbox"(swedish for anchor box- not sure about the english terminology). There you can fit 2-5 m of chain, 50 m rope and an anchor easily. Can also be good to have a backup anchor if the chain has a hidden defect. Travel safe!

Ok guys, I love your videos, but I’ve never commented before - because it’s beautiful to watch you learn so much about your lives together and your journey - without my interference...lol.. But hey, we all love to watch. And enjoy, so thank you. Anyway, watching you try to reel in the 150 metre / feet?? of land anchor lines that you had on reels, by hand, on two lines and suspended across a PVC tube - well that tube was about 1/2” diameter - the hole in the reel for the rope was about 1-1/2” or more. A larger tube for the reel suspended between the ropes would be more efficient. Less turns. If you need something fabricated - please let me know. I’m a very creative boat owner who owns a plumbing and renovation company - with associated resources. If I could assist in that capacity in your journey, it would be an honour. Sails up,

Hi guys, love your videos, thank you. As an old salt with many thousands of miles under my keel, a little advice, Do not use locking turns on any cleats. In the wind and wet they can slip and jam so that you cannot undo them. Instead just do another wrap on the cleat. It will not come undone. Also you can undo them in total darkness.
