The first vehicle I bought was a 1992 Integra GSR. I had the exterior resprayed the OEM Aztec Green Pearl. Someone backed their truck into the rear quarter panel while I was at the bank one day. The damage was repaired, but there was an area between the body and the hatch which would leak. One day it ended up raining extremely hard and water leaked onto the ECU and ruined it. I just couldn't stand the idea of the car being damaged. I ended up finding a second GSR in the same color for sale and bought it because it was as clean as the Integra in this video. The car was 99% stock. The previous owner swapped out the OEM wheels for 99-00 Civic Si wheels. It had working cruise control and cold A/C. I ended up selling it and the person that bought it rear ended a SUV. They are still my favorite cars I have ever owned.

The second car I ever owned. I was 17. It was a 91 DA GSR (USDM) with the b17a in it. It was super super clean. So well balanced. I had the 2000 civic SI wheels on it. Skunk 2 intake manifold and header/exhaust. Had the Apexi AFR tuner/VTEC controller on it. TEIN springs with brand new GSR shocks. It was perfect. I traded it for a BMW and regret it to this day. I hope one day I can find one that clean and restore it. The most underrated 90s Honda ever. I hope it stays underrated so they don't get ragged out and price gouged before I can get another one. Oh and it was white... beautiful car. My first love. It was as clean as the car in this video. Getting bummed out right now because I got rid of it. DA over DC all day every day.

Very very nice. I enjoyed this episode. I swear I saw this on the Goo-Net a little while ago on the white Rays. Here's my DA story: I bought my best friend's DA-9 and owned it for about a year, which I drove spiritually, and loved eternally. On valentines of early 2019 I crashed it into a raised bank with my girlfriend by my side on a very misleading corner I've never driven through, which messed the engine and chassis frame and caused overheating. We were fine, but someone helped pull us out. we were a close 10min from Pakiri Beach, on the coast of the North Island New Zealand. My subframe was twisted, radiator damaged. I managed to have my last drive with it, stopping it it every few minutes to let the overheating settle. When we got to the beach we called a towtruck and went for an epic swim on that hot day. My close buddy who I bought my DA9 from bought a black stripped out DA-6 with tuned b16a. I drove it. It was an impressive car to drive. That DA-6 felt almost deadly. I believe we almost died a few times in it. Was it worth it. Probably. My favourite integra models would definitely be the DA6/DA8/DA9 . After that it is the DB 4door Integra .

I miss that late 80s / early 90s Honda vibe, I used to have a Concerto with D16Z2, most reliable car I ever had , 340k kilometers done and can truly say interior looks almost as good as here, what a quality product. Or maybe because it was previously owned by old folk and well maintained... Also drove 3rg gen Preludes and 4th gen Civics a lot, its just something special about them, handling, shifting, throttle response its just lovely.

SO SO SO GLAD someone is doing another review of a DA (DA6/DA9/DB2) cause this car is DEFINITELY under appreciated. Also think its funny that even in Japan where they get all the "good stuff" that the DA6 suffers from the worn tail light gaskets like the USDM DA9s/DB2s haha

My little Brother swapped a XSi B16A engine into his '90 Si back in 2000, long before the first Fast and Furious movie hit the theaters. In 2004 I had a '92 Integra GSR and I had King Motorsports(the Mugen dealer) swap in a brand new 0mi B18C5 for the factory B17A1. We used a Mugen Gymkhana-spec 4-2-1 exhaust manifold to avoid having to cut the front crossmember. Second gen Civics/CRX's and second gen Integra's are my favorite cars ever built at any price

Makes me nostalgic for my 1992 model. Late 80s to early 90’s was the beginning of the Honda performance street car golden era. Maybe Acura can remake the Integra into a performance Hybrid. A mini NSX internally but with a modernized Integra shell. A performance carpool racer ;) for Gen X group who own Teslas now.

But my first car will never be sold. There was so many options I didn’t even know of like the electric climate control! And the lower glove box. As for cup holders I can’t recall but I think they do have the armrest style that when opens had cup holders. Unless it was just a additional compartment. If I had his DA I’d never want to drive it in fear of something happening to it.

The K series (k20, k23, k24) was reversed for better emissions and thermal efficiency. Having the exhaust manifold on the inside with the intake runners on the outside allowed the catalytic converter to heat up quicker. I imagine this also isolated the heat in the engine keeping intake temperatures down.

I'm sure many people here have owned a VTEC Integra or Civic in their adolescence. Best entry-level boy racers

The engine rotates counter-clockwise to simplify the transmission. The engine ends up rotating the same direction as the wheels rotate when going forward. There is no need to have a mechanism to reverse this (other than for reverse).

In Japan they don't have a meal while they drive. So the cup balancers are perfectly practical in that context.

"Much more practical than the Civic." Okay, here is where I have to ask what the poster was smoking. I agree with most of what he says, but c'mon, NOTHING is more practical than the Civic. And yeah, OF COURSE the EF9 Civic was used in racing. It only makes sense; same engine, but lighter and smaller, and still has the same double wishbone suspension. The Civic is a freaking DEMON around a corner. Even 30 years later, I fear NO ONE when it comes to cornering. Lambo? Corvette? Bring it, sucker. But yeah, this generation of Integra is GORGEOUS, and everything the Civic is, and a smidgen more classy to boot. I had a friend back in 1992 with this Integra, and going from my EF to that car, you felt exactly that: "Hey! This is just like my car...but a little more classy!" But one thing I love about this video, is that it really brings home the truth about early 90s sports cars: they are drivers' cars, raw and full of the love of life. You can't buy ANYTHING nowadays, that gives you that same joy and visceral satisfaction behind the wheel, which is why I will never, ever sell mine. I would choose my old EF over ANYTHING new, from ANY maker today. Modern cars are over-computerised, dead-feeling turds.

I found this... The reason Honda made engines rotate counterclockwise -- which goes against the normal automotive engine-builder's standard -- was to simplify the internal mechanics of its front-wheel drive transmissions.
