The story that happened in between Arkham Knight and this game sounds more interesting that the actual story of the Suicide Squad game. A World's Finest game with Batman and Superman teaming up which is one of the most iconic team ups if not the most in all of comic book history, is just relegated to background information. I don't like how the Justice League is established in this universe and especially after Arkham Knight because it pretty much devalues its ending which was already convoluted to begin with.

Batman joining/founding the league AFTER Arkham Knight makes some sense, insofar as (1) his true name is public, thus his darker reputation has been dulled, necessitating a different advantage that may come through teamwork, and (2) Batman has, by the end of his trilogy, learned the value of letting friends and allies in to help him, even trusting some of them enough to help the city in his stead while he reinvents himself. This new mindset could hypothetically make him open to accepting help from the future League members. But I hate that we won't be able to explore a post-Batman Gotham because of this Brainiac apocalypse. Did Robin and Red Hood ever become partners in Gotham despite their difference in methods? Did Barbara ever get a successor as Batgirl such as Stephanie Brown or Cassandra Cain? I wanted Cassandra in an Arkham game SO BADLY. But there is no time to look into this five year gap in depth because we gotta kill the Justice League now.

I think that’s a really interesting concept actually. While I’m not a fan of Bruce’s identity being exposed to the world, thus essentially making him the target of a media circus and essentially dulling his effect of fear upon criminals, maybe this is a door opening for Bruce. No, he may not be regarded as an urban myth anymore and yes, the world knows who he is now, but it seems like he’s found new life long friends among the League. And maybe he can start becoming a symbol of hope if he lets the world get to know him and why he became who he is. It may not be perfect, and still not a fan of the world now scrutinizing everything he does as Batman and Bruce Wayne, but it is possible that he can still make a good life out of a situation like this. Even more so now that he has colleagues and friends that have his back.

It makes sense because Superman is in the Arkham universe as well the justice league you can hear goons talk about Superman when they said “that FREAK FROM Metropolis” the reason why scarecrow bombs around the entire city because he knew there was other heroes out there. That’s why he bombed or tried to bomb Gotham if anybody else tried to help Batman. The league didn’t exist around Arkham Knight but the heroes did they just wasn’t together yet. Lex Luther also funded the militia to take out Batman so he can take over Gotham so he’s in our universe as well

HOT TAKE: I think Batman joining the Justice League after the events of Arkham Knight works perfectly. If you think about Batman's history, he initially started as a gritty and grounded character in the 1940s, but eventually evolved into more of a superhero in the 1950s and 60s. And in the Arkhamverse, I think Batman is using the League's public heroism as another way to fight crime and protect Gotham and the world, but without a doubt, when night falls in Gotham, the Knightmare Batman who we see at the end of Arkham Knight is who keeps Gotham safe. So when you think about it, there's essentially now TWO Batmans existing. Much like how in the Arkham games, there was Bruce Wayne and Batman trying to save Gotham. One Batman is a myth, as we see at the end of Arkham Knight, and the other Batman is a legend, someone's whose identity is now public, but his legacy as a vigilante protector is what strikes fear into the hearts of criminals he fights during the day.

I think they went with 5 purely because of a story perspective. Wonder Woman helps the Squad while each Squad member fights off against their own respective League member. Harley will have a story with Batman, Boomerang with Flash, King Shark with Superman (Since Waller mentioned he can go toe to toe with him somehow), and Deadshot with Green Lantern since they have a history with each other in this universe

It’s not that simple, believe me Bruce being depressed and commited to be Batman is one thing but that’s like punching a wall. Superman might’ve helped him but we know how ridiculously stubborn Bruce is, he might say no until he realizes he needs help. So here’s the real question, what enemy did the league faced first before brainiac? It has to be one of global preportion, one who has plans to take over the world, one who we seen in a dlc inside an abandoned amusement park. Starro the Conquerer Starro is a powerful telepath, he might abuse Bruce’s loneliness to the point he needs help and Superman and the league helps him. Hell the first Justice League comic was 5 members vs Starro

Arkham Knight’s ending wasn't perfect but it does give this new game a lot of things to fill out a game before this forming the league would have given it less to have to explain so it could focus on just being a game about going against the league which is what I think rocksteady intended

This game is just so strange because based on what I know of it, I want it and I don't want it. I'm sure many Arkhamverse fans feel the same. To me... this would have made a lot more sense, than this Suicide Squad game. They could have started the story with a singleplayer prologue showing the recruitment of Batman, following into a few of the missions they did together, having you try all characters, let you play as Superman a bit, and ultimately lead into the 5 years later, Brainiac attacks, Superman is taken over by Brainiac, raising the stakes... you are left with 4 Justice League members for 4 player co-op, who have to defeat Brainiac and kill Superman (but will probably find a way to save him towards the end of the game, and then there could be a possibly playable Superman sequence for the end boss). Then for the end game, you could still pull the multiversal BS for more DLC.

A thing I really liked while playing the alpha, was the heroes logs. And you can hear them interacting and their dynamics, it was awesome. I hope and I think at some point we are going to see how the Justice league before going corrupted as a flashback cutscene.

The whole point of the Knightfall protocol was to create a new myth that could be bigger than Batman, which was Knightmare Batman being that criminals would be afraid of Batman again thinking its his ghost or demons after 'dying'. Bruce joining the Justice League would ruin this mythos since it would tell people that Bruce is still alive.

Probably, since the brainiac invasion I can see Superman and Flash visiting their home territories and significant others by causing a mess and Lois and Iris probably tries to stop them by calling them by their real names and sadly they can’t get through to them since their being mind control. So with this possibly being the end of the Arkham verse I don’t see why this new team of directors and writers wouldn’t just have their identities be revealed as a “oh well” moment since this is the end of the universe.

But after taking him down they realize all the horrible things their clones did so they tell flash to go back in time to prevent all of them from happening creating the flashpoint.

But since this is not the same rocksteady team that made the Arkham universe and games; and with the “okayish” reviews this game is getting in terms of its gameplay I can see this game not having much success aside from probably a good story line being told in the game. But other than that I can see them just ending this universe with the suicide squad winning the day but still losing at the end since the world is pretty much destroyed thanks to brainiac. Plus I can’t see this team of anti-hero/villains having a happy ending since in the comics someone always dies during a suicide squad mission. But that just my personal opinion and I could be wrong, as I hope the game is at least good and can continue this universe for the better since we lost Kevin Conroy.

I'm planning on play this game, and yeah, I'm worried it won't be a great game. At the same time, I am seeing a lot of funny coincidences that could hint otherwise. When Arkham Knight came out, people hated a lot of it, and disliked the ending, disliked what they did with Batman. Few years past, and everyone starts to really love it. Although suicide squad could be bad, there is always a chance. Reminds me of the Star Trek fanbase. New Trek show comes out, everyone hates on it, few years past and its loved. Honestly, I am glad Rocksteady is taking a risk, not enough companies do that. Sometimes risks work out, sometimes they don't, but I'd rather want companies to take risks so that maybe the game industry can improve. if this game fails, it'll show other companies to not pursue this genre of gaming, but if it succeeds, it'll show the game industries how to do a looter shooter live service game right. Who knows, but hopefully this game surprises us.

This version of batman loosing his secret identity is just like kingdom come batman, that story made it work, Bruce pretty much carried on fighting crime and eventually making an army of robot batmen to make Gotham one of safest cities in the world.

Since we know that Multiverses are a part of the game now (the next insider episode is titled Elseworlds) we can presume that when we kill/save a JL member we will get more backstory how the league formed. Like I can see we "kill" them and then learn that they were the JL of a different world that already fell and the real JL will show up.

This just feels like they fit two different universes together in this really weird mashed potatoes with corn type of way. Like, it just feels like if they were going to introduce the League it should have been much more grounded and darker and grittier considering that the Arkham universe just allows so much death, torture, and so much more grittier stuff, so it sucks that this upcoming game doesn't at least ground the other heroes and just makes them feel like their regular usual backgrounds instead of something more fitting for this verse. Feels like Arkham verse was the Walking Dead, and the other heroes came from Candy Crush, and they forced them together. I get it. Gotham is different from the rest of the world, but it sucks they just feel normal, and this Batman is much more brutal than the usual and we are fully and well aware of this (since we spent 3 games with him and then some).

@@dylansharp8471 The fact that Batman stopped being the Demon Bat and went back to being Batman is incredibly stupid. The entire world still knows that he is Batman. Plus, that would also mean that all of the Bat family is indirectly affected by the fact that Bruce is still alive.

See I always preferred the idea that the Justice League formed sometime after Origins, then something happened that caused Bruce to leave before Asylum. Origins Bruce seemed to be on a path toward accepting help from others, whereas in Asylum through Knight it seemed like he had kind of burnt out on all that, so I used to assume "okay something really bad happened to the point that he shut out basically everybody and left." Also the existence of Prometheus, Starro, and from what I recall the Injustice Gang as well BEFORE Asylum without there being a JLA just doesn't seem right. I dunno, between this and the issues with King Shark and Deadshot I'm kinda just writing this game off as an AU.

This bad thing that made him leave was probably Joker killing Jason. He left the league and dedicated himself only to protect Gotham. And then, AFTER Arkham Knight, Superman helps Batman get himself together and recruits him in the JL AGAIN. That's my headcanon.

It is a Suicide Squad game, not something else, I expect a great action shooter and a superb time with my friends. I'd be happy for a little piece of information about this 5 year gap, but I don't expect a full flashback cutscene, this is not what this game is about.

Yeah as you said, it is quite simple, we needed a game between Arkham Knight and this Suicide Squad game, so that the audience will feel a painful connection when all of these characters die. Not the best analogy but this game feels like releasing the Dark Knight Rises after Batman Begins and just skipping over The Dark Knight, (or maybe just the Justice League movie and how it tried to release without us knowing all the characters). A 5 year gap also feels really short... something more like 8 years would have made this pill easier to swallow. This game is a weird take. Maybe it is intentional that we are meant to see the characters through the Suicide Squad's eyes without proper context of the trials they have gone through and that is why it makes a joke of their deaths. Unfortunately though, this little tactic works poorly for Arkhamverse Batman, of whom the audience knows fairly well at this point, and has an emotional attachment to. We still don't know which of the many leaks is the truth and how this game will play out. But I fear that the games need to tap into the multiverse to tell more DLC stories will ultimately compromise or delay the conclusion people want to the narrative.

I didn’t think this was connected to the Arkham verse? Floyd Lawton was different in those Arkham games, so was the suicide squad in the Arkham comics. Dead shot even kills Captain Boomerang so I’m really curious to see how this is connected to the Arkham series.

None of the comics are canon, not even the animated suicide squad movie and rocksteady has said that the floyd lawton from the previous games was a fake, just some dude who had stolen his identity (and the real one killed him for it)

I really hate when people go "why doesn't he call the league" 1 it's a Batman game not a justice league game. 2 As people love to point out on vs posts, he wraps it up in a night. Why should the league be called if Batman ultimately deals with it in a single night? I know they said they weren't formed yet, I'm just saying why this talking point drives me crazy.

Arkham games should of continued into Batman Beyond. Would of kept it in a future Gotham, gotten a well liked new Batman with Terry, a whole new rogues gallery, ability to space out backstory for what Bruce did after his fake death and follow up on the rest of the Bat family since. Not to mention the insane tech they could of come up with for Beyond's world. Sucide squad would of been better off as a standalone story like Gotham Knights. Tying it into the Arkham series is a mistake.
