I don't discredit the Lakers championship because of the Bubble. But I will say they had one of the easiest championships runs. They beat a 35 win Blazers squad who were in the Bottom 5 in defense. A 44(projected to win 49 games) Rockets team whose starting center was PJ Tucker lol. A young Nuggets team who were the best team they beat. And the projected 49 win Heat team who lost Bam and Goran Dragic. It was basically Jimmy Butler with some help from rookie Tyler Herro against 2 Top 5 players(Bron, AD) and the #1 defense in the NBA. Yes the Lakers were the 1st seed but still their best Playoff win is against a young Jokic and Murray Nuggets team who were probably exhausted playing in 2 straight Game 7s coming back down 3-1 twice. Also, I don't want to hear players saying the environment in the Bubble made it the hardest championship. They were in 5 star hotels in Disney making millions of dollars playing pickup basketball while people outside the Bubble were struggling during the Pandemic. Some people at the time wish they could live the luxury during the height of the Pandemic.

NBA players describe it as the hardest championship run ever. That fact that the Lakers and mainly LeBron capitalized on winning, speaks volumes on how mentally focused they were. Plus the Lakers were pacing for 65+ wins, even easily could’ve gone B2B champs if they weren’t injured mid seasons and AD going down first round with Bron’s ankle destroyed by Hill. Easily one of the most unique championship ever. Lakers winning another championship with LeBron and AD again puts that Bubble convo asterisk fully to the grave.

If it was the Lakers who had blown a 3-1 lead in the bubble with Lebron complaining about the bubble on social media, and the Clippers had won, these people would 100% be saying "Lebron was mentally weak" and "the Clippers proved they were the best under more difficult circumstances"

They go and literally won every game and yet they still missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. Another was the nuggets going on to be down 3-1 three times and overcoming the odds twice. I don't think that will happen again in a long time. Speaking of Nuggets Jamal Murray was a winner on and off the court during that run. The bubble was a fluke because if you asked me under these conditions who would win. 100% Lebron would win, because there was no pressure, it was like practice. Yes there were some “digital” observers but the crowd affects the game especially in basketball they can manipulate momentum. So yes he gonna thrive when hardly anyone watching. Lastly I contain zero bias because all championships in the major sports i give an asterisk to. No crowd, no observer means no official proof. I cant even mention who won in baseball i think it was the Dodgers? Fluke. Buccaneers? Nah Fluke. They really should have just cancelled that season for everyone but their egos wouldn’t do that these people think about money every second. I think the Bubble championship run is only scrutinized because it was Bron and the Lakers that won it. Any other team and people would say how tough it was. All players are saying it was a challenge because they had nothing to do but to focus on ball. I think it’s one of the most challenging runs in recent years.

Having an asterisk next to your championship is not neccessarily negative. For me, the bubble chip is just about mental toughness over pure basketball. The mentally toughest and most focused teams made the finals that year. It was skill after that.

The bubble was pure basketball. Fans have their critiques but the players just weren't locked in.

I'm not a LeBron fan and also not a Lakers supporter... But it really makes sense. It's what they did before the pandemic. With all the crazy restrictions and health issues, NBA organizations would rather put qualifying teams in the bubble than to take a hazardous risk of putting all the teams and players participating in non-bearing games.

Honestly the 2020 championship is really high quality. 2021/2022 seems to be the real seasons where players didn't get enough rest so the injuries and the level of play deteriorated.

To me its impossible to put an asterisk next to the bubble, this was literally an equal playing field, no distractions, no nothing. Pure hoops

@ivblizzard3616 nope. That title shouldn't belong to anyone. Warriors were choking frauds before KD. Cavs were only relevant because Adam Silver gave them a bunch of Lotteries to invent a big 3 there. 2014 is the last REAL title in that decade.

Bubble Lakers had a roster filled with old heads. Stuck to their fundamentals, played well and hard on D, it translated well to the bubble situation - mentally and tactically they were better than everyone else.

Great video as always bro. Lakers winning the championship in 2020 was valid. The bubble was a different environment even off the court when they were all just locked in their hotel rooms.

I didn’t watch a second of the bubble, haven’t even watched highlights, that’s was partially due to being in a crazy lock down in my city and being over media as a whole. But you can’t put it on the same level as a regular nba season (but you obviously count it as a championship, since it happened) road games are tough, you have to travel. Not to mention a huge part of the season was cancelled and that ads to the slog that is trying to win… I believe either the lakers or clippers were winning that year if all things were normal. But what happened is not the same even if the result might have been the same.
