Did you check the ring gap in the block and fit them accordingly?
@SEsGarage2 ай бұрын
All steps of the TSB were followed accordingly. This is a low horsepower mass produced economy engine, not a race engine.

@@SEsGarage don't think it matters what type engine. Just standard practice for correct build and reliability

What year ??? How many miles ???? Great videos

This was a 2007 with 189k on it! If you check out some of my other videos on the car we go through all the details of the car and diagnosis of the engine before rebuilding!

How much would a job like this cost? How much would you charge and how much for parts?
@SEsGarage2 ай бұрын
So this isn’t a job that I would do for a customer unfortunately. I have a full-time job and a family so time is my biggest enemy. I can only spare a couple hours a week out in the garage doing this, which is part of the reason why this project took as long as it did! Parts and sublet machine shop for the head are anywhere between $1200 and $1500 depending on what exactly you need and any other casualties of the job. Roughly another $1800-$2000 in labor (20 hrs flat rate time roughly) so this is easily a 3000+ dollar job parts and labor at a reputable shop

My goal here is to sell the car at a profit to cover my parts and labor and hope the videos do well!

@SEsGarage Thanks for your response. I have a 2009 camry I purchased the car brand new. The dealership had the recall in which they did an oil consumption test back in 2015. The car at the time did not burn oil. Then in 2018 I stopped short the oil light came on the text day I checked about a quart of oil was missing. Took it the dealership they did an oil consumption test after 1k miles the car was burning oil at that time my car only had about 55k miles. Today 2024 with 82k miles the car still burns about a quart of oil every 1k miles.

No need for a hone? I know the TSB doesn't call for it.
@SEsGarageАй бұрын
You’re correct, the TSB states if the factory crosshatch is visible do not hone, and if it’s not visible replace the block. Ours was clearly visible so we followed the TSB

So it's Oil Ring, Spring, then Oil ring on the bottom groove. Is that right
