In this episode, we drove all the way to Boston to eat the biggest thali in the United States!! We ordered the Bahubali Thali at Godivari and we ate until we couldn't eat anymore. With over 50 items, the Bahubali Thali is by far the most South Indian food we have ever seen. We filmed over 3 hours of footage for this video... but for the sake of time, we cut it down to just under 40 minutes. This was the most Indian food we've ever tried to eat at once, so we hope you enjoy our Indian food reaction!!

It's great you guys were able to eat a Bahubali thali in the US. I would point out that a lot of that is not South Indian food. It seems a mix of some South Indian with lots of North Indian food. You still have a lot to experience when it comes to South Indian food :)

Nice to see you guys after a long time. Really like the way you guys enjoy the food. 🤤 The restaurant's name is pronounced as GO-DA-VAA-REE (Godavari) it's the name of a river in India. The 5th potato appetizer is call Batata Vada or in the South called Aloo Bonda. It is a street food and very yummy.

But I love the enthusiasm and there's one remark that really touched me : that obviously they couldn't finish all but will give to the homeless. The ball that you had is called bonda. It's like a common street food in Tamilnadu. It's more or less the vada u get with vada paav in Mumbai yet still a bit different coz of the spices we use in South india.. and the paiyasam (dessert) u had is a mix of vermicelli, milk and condensed milk. What you had is just 1 type of paiyasam there are tonnes of paiyasam and it differs from state to state..

Joy and Chad. A few tips on things you had queries about throughout this video. I am an American Citizen but was born in raised in India (Mumbai) and a thorough food lover, in addition to being a decent cook myself, so thought I would share a few things. (All comments presaged by the time in the video you brought this up). 1. 16:07 - Moong Dal - Some of the most popular uses of 'Moong Dal' are in 'Dal' or lentil soup and in the making of 'Khichdi', comfort food of extreme nutritional value (moong dal + rice) and lightly spiced with a 'Tadka' (tempering of hot oil with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and non-spicy whole red chilies) consumed throughout India but more predominantly in the state of Gujarat. This is typically eaten with 'Kadhi', a soup made from slightly sour buttermilk (blended yogurt), along with ginger and other light spices. 'Kadhi' is typically tangy in flavor and goes great with the 'Khichdi'. In many families in Gujarat, 'Khichdi' is a staple in their evening meals. I can help you understand how to make 'Khichdi' (fairly simple) if you like. 2. 18:45 - Upma - is made from 'Semolina whereas 'Idly' is made from rice flour. Semolina is also called 'Sooji' in North India and 'Rava' in the central and southern parts of India. 3. 21:47 - Butter Chicken - You hit the nail on the head Chad with your comments on the slightly cooled-down version of the tandoori chicken (28:38). The original butter chicken was invented in Delhi by a cook that came to Delhi after the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. This consisted of cooking leftover chicken tandoori (from the previous night) with a tomato-based spice curry. The restaurant he started exists to this day in Delhi and is called 'Moti Mahal' (translated to mean Palace of Pearls). They still cook this dish in the original style, with the chicken being with bone (a.k.a. 'Tandoori Chicken) and not the boneless version we find in so many places nowadays. 4. 31:40 - Payasam - This is a sweet dish from the state of Kerala and yes, it does have cardamom. 5. 33:33 - Carrot Halwa - a.k.a. Gajar Halwa. Try this warm in combination with vanilla ice cream and it will probably blow your mind. 6. Ras Malai - The plump and soft ball in the flavored milk (yes, it is milk) is also made of milk, similar to 'paneer', but with a much fluffier consistency. You can make 'paneer' easily at home. Can guide if you like. I find your videos extremely endearing and your spirit very infectious, thus my elongated response. If there is one thing I dearly miss, being a gastronome is my food in India. I would so love to take you on a redux of your India tour (Mumbai in particular) and introduce you to many incredible hidden gems that are there. God willing, someday. Take care and keep up the great work!!! Ciao for now.

What a fantastic feast!! 👍Loved watching you guys devour them. The upma that you had is made of 'cream of wheat', that is why you have that grainy texture. Cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf altogether makes up 'garam masala', so you will taste them a lot in Indian dishes. Cardamom is used a lot in dairy products and desserts in India. It substitutes vanilla beans here in desserts. And when you will visit Kolkata, please have goat curry or goat biriyani or goat sautéed in onions and spices and herbs. It's a delicacy there. Have fun tasting the variety that India offers. 🙂

you are right. curries are part of main course meal and dry savouries fried or baked are appetizers. Desserts always have green cardamom powder. Gravy items have black and green cardamom along with cloves, cinnamons, cumin seeds and bay leaves/ curry leaves. You had plain white rasmalai, it tastes better when saffron is added to it while cooking. The color turns yellow and saffron enhances the taste of the rasmalai by leaps and bounds. From where I am, the reason for the difference in spice levels between the appetizers and main course is due how and when they are eaten. Most of the tandoor/fried appetizers are generally had while partying or chilling with alcohol, as that flavor profile and spice level matches really well with chilled beer.

All dals are lentils, aka pulses. There many varieties and cooked in many ways or added to many Indian dishes. It is the main protein sorce for vegetarians. When eaten with rice, you get all 20 essential amino acids, hence in South India the idili, dosa, uttappam are all made with fermented Urad dal & rice. The Moong dal is green when whole, and yellow when peeled (usually in dal curries you’ve eaten, with a buttery mouth-feel). Good video. God bless.

Trick to subside the heat sensation. Have yoghurt in between or lassi or any yoghurt salad (raita) which will kill the fire and also change the pallete for next one.

So much fun watching you guys try out so many dishes that you have no idea about. 😂 Some of them of course, you're really familiar with. The round fried ball with the potato filling is called "bonda" (pronounced bone-dah). South Indian food is generally very spicy... North Indians usually find it very spicy and sour.

South and East are known for their strong spices and very spicy dishes! 7:43 I think it's Potato Bonda! 9:15 Rice flour Vathal ( A side dish snack usually for rice & any liquid mix eg sambhar. It's kids favorite. Also it can be had as a separate snack. But not too much)

The dosa would have lost its crispness by the time you got to it. The crunchy long thing is a gold finger. You put one on each finger and have. Sometimes it's given instead of papad to have with sambar rice. Have a sip of Coke with the spicy stuff, or that Thums Up. Upma is called concrete.

Godavari is a river name , there are two districts. Godavari people have good sense of humor. I have one suggestion ,take guidance of Indians ,because if you try with proper combination and order ,you will feel better. Same food but different taste. India is very diverse ,even we travel 50km food taste changes.
