Crazy that I finally found someone else who feels the same way about this weird movie that I do: having an odd obsession with it while simultaneously thinking it’s horrible and being baffled that this fever dream was ever made in the first place (though Rizzo definitely gets more way more joy out of it than I do lol). A few years back I somehow rediscovered the cooking show scene, showed it to all my friends, and we couldn’t stop quoting it to each other as it became an inside joke between us for a good while. It’s just… so strange on basically every single front, and yet that makes it all the more fascinating to me despite genuinely not liking it lmao. Also speaking on your “the cat is an eldritch trickster god” jokes, Seussical the Musical (which predates this movie by a few years) sorta confirms this is the case in a light-hearted sense with the ways he interacts with and inserts himself into the plot so you’re not entirely wrong funnily enough

I loved this movie as a kid just bc of how FUN TO WATCH it was!! Also I do find it funny that this movie was so hated by the widow of Dr.Seuss that this movie is the reason why we don’t get live action adaptations of Dr.Seuss books 😂😂

Even though I didn’t watch this movie a lot, I did grow up with it and it was interesting to notice how much adult humor there was as I got older
