Just came across this channel after watching some blokes running rounds in the woods shouting "Hit!". Looks like good fun, it reminds me of growing up in an re-enactment society. (Some might knock it and think it's weird) But I loved every minute of it. Cooking over open fires, sleeping in canvas tents and I got to play with cannons. Brilliant times! The L85 has always been my favourite rifle. We had the dummy versions when I was cadets but I always use it when it's in a video games when I can. Even love it's little brother the L22 in ghost recon future soldier. Going to see if their is any Airsoft clubs in my area once the current climate settles down. First I need to ask the misses can I have one...wish me luck.

Don’t know why everyone rags on the SA80 so much. The A2 fixed most of the issues and its easy to use. We wouldn’t keep using it if it was complete garbage. Can pop off headshots and decent groupings using iron sites at 100 metres. sadly never got to use the Susat as i wasn’t a landlubber.
@Still-ill-Trill4 жыл бұрын
They rag on it because even though it's functionally fine now that H&K fixed it, but it's still an un-ergonomic, heavy, un-intuitive rifle. The team who designed it were engineers who had zero (or very little) firearms experience. They didn't know what actually made firearms 'good.' Ah see your MOD will still keep using it because its cheaper to deal with it than to refit the entire defence force with new guns, new tooling, new training, new spares for whatever platform they see fit. They kept using it since they sunk so much money into fixing it to actually be functional reliably
@kyleblackburne28704 жыл бұрын
Skelly -webm have you ever used one? Its perfectly fine for job its there for and uses decent caliber rounds. I personally love the feel of the rifle. Only pain in the arse is the mag as it’s a bull pup but thats the same issue nearly all bull pups have. You are right though we only kept it because of the cost but we’re almost at the point now of getting a new designed rifle. The A3 basically just replaced the frame to remove some weld marks and thats about it. I don’t know what rifle we would adopt to be honest though. Our SF’s use pretty much the same gear as the US.
@Still-ill-Trill4 жыл бұрын
@@kyleblackburne2870 I've had a brief play around with one. The safety is un-intuitive, very heavy and an average trigger. I understand manual of arms becomes alright after a while but at the end of the day, it was designed by engineers who didn't know what made firearms good. It does the job well enough sure. I'd prefer it over a QBZ but would take my own countries rifle, the AUG over it all day, every day.
@Foxhound6173 жыл бұрын
@@Still-ill-Trill I wouldnt say the safety is un-intuitive but more so that the change lever is. Safety is easy to use when in an engagement but changing the fire rate is awkward and can become stiff very easily. Pretty much all of issued L85A2's have Susat's and most have the rail hand guard so you can fit a foregrip too, which makes them a lot nicer to use.
@gnifrusdniw12 күн бұрын
I used the a2 and of all the weapons i have ever used i was shocked by the fact that while holding the pistol grip i could rock or rattle the tmh (top half of rifle). Why you would have the pistol grip not permanently attached to the tmh makes no sense, the susat was so bad then we go acog but the rail for it was 💩 then they used picatinny rails with the new sight which was better but the amount of play would make me laugh. Stoppages were a problem in poor weather and mud and the weapon is a pain to clean.

I shot the real thing today. Well, L98's. Very fun to use. Perhaps I'll consider one for Airsoft. I know the L98 isn't an L85, but they are virtually the same aside for the fact it only has a Repeat function rather than the full. This one has a few parts which differ slightly, (such as the front sling loop which I believe should be on the left) but still very realistic. There are things to consider when operating and describing, but again - it's airsoft. Very good for what it is.
