Really great work poured in by everyone! Thank you Rocket Sledge for putting this together. Some honest critiques to the competitors: 1) Rivals: So much editing that it was really hard to take in and appreciate the choreography of the cars. 2) Airborne: My vote for sure. Amazing configurations and OMG those transitions. Only critique is that my immersion was broken when it became obvious that the cars were being moved independently of the way their boost would affect them, I wish some touches had been added to make it look like they were still kind of steering with their boost. 3) Attack on Demotian: Cool choreography at the beginning. I hope the creator learns how to use programmed camera movements before their next entry so their camera shots will be less shaky. Once the demos were happening it became see cars were actually being hit by demoers, it just looked like they were randomly exploding. 4) Mann City Heist: Really cool choreo, plot, and next-level environments! Only issue is that dark cars on a dark background are very hard to see. Glad they chose light-colored boosts, but being able to see the car bodies easier in the shots would have probably put this in first place for me. Obligatory: this critique comes from a place of love and excitement and all the pieces were way better than anything I could do. So excited to see this art form develop!

Thanks for the review! For Airborne, the movement I was going for is kinda like how real life planes move - steering with tilting, boost just provides the speed. But I realise not everyone may like it, since it's not rocket league physics

The 1st one was the best imo because its litterally the journey of a gc joining ssl and at the end on the workshop map, the ssl who would have kicked the ball would've been a rlcs player. I love it it gives me hope for some reason

My list and what I thought in order: 4: Attack on Demonation. Was good, but the camera work was a bit janky, but great story and use of random cars, the music sync was really good. 3: Mann City Heist. Great scenery, but kinda dark and the ending was a bit weird and the music didn't fit right, but overall, great use of the maps. 2: Rivals. Amazing music coupled with amazing chorography. Even though all the cars were kinda copy and paste, it all fits in with the perceived story of two rivals. and 1: Airborne. Amazing, almost perfect. The use of callbacks with the dragon racers, the phoenix racers having incredible motion of the wings, the fennec team was a bit out of place but did fit, and the Aftershocks, like I keep saying, reminds me of the Red Sparrows, the GTA V Online Airshow team. My only grievance is the music having built up the tone and mood, but to no big reveal or conclusion, just the finish line.

I liked Rivals the most. I was about to go with the last video (4) because the because was really good, but then it started to get a little scrambledat the end. My gf had a good point, they probably finished in one day and thought it wasnt good enough, so they kept adding more on. All good shows, Airborn seems too hyped up in my opinion.

It's so difficult to choose who is best... Should be looking at programming skill, choreography, music/rhythm/timing editing and overall visual style which I guess may or may not include a story. But it's like they all excel in at least one of the aspects... #1 "Rivals" does an amazing choreographed red vs blue half-time show on music. #2 "Airborne" does a literal air show match with awesome animated teams. #3 "Attack on Demotian" has a silly origin story but well timed on music with lots of choreographed cars. #4 "Mann City Heist" goes from cool choreography to a chase sequence to an epic space battle. They're all nuts in their own way. How the fck does one choose a winner here?! I think for me it's between #2 and #4 really because both have a complete storyline. #2 has very special animated team-choreography and a nice show. But #4 has everything; a choreographed show, visually interesting, edited to the music, and a storyline. It has a very demoscene-esque feel to it which is why I'll vote that way. But there's really no clear winner out of these four...

@@nullptrRL A replay file is a replay file. I wouldn't be able to open in Rocket League if it wasn't. What you are referring to is "state setting" and it is a bit of a "cheat" in some RLbot programmer's eyes but most of the presentations at least use a bit of it. In the end it is still Rocket League bots, not CG, just with some questionable physics at times.

I really enjoyed the parts where they used contrails and cars to create moving, colored shapes and waves like at the start of Mann city heist or Airborne. Reminds me of a traditional airshow, but pushed much further in rocket league. The majority of Airborne was in that direction, but I guess I like the more abstract stuff. It's just mesmerizing. I'm talking like the start of Scripted from the previous contest, but for much longer (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmaWnHarmMZ_oqs).
