(Personal trainer fan here) Ethan, with peace and love, if you want to lose weight in a sustainable fashion, you should do so in a way that doesn't involve such severe calorie deficits where you're only eating 1200 calories in one day. They can lead to excess hunger in combination with difficult cravings, which ultimately lead to excess binges, which in turn end up completely undoing progress. Instead of having days where you only consume 1200 calories, which is 1100 calories below your stated maintenance calories (2300), you should commit to 1900-2000 calories each day and eat at around a 200-300 calorie deficit consistently. This is also smart with respect to sustaining your results long-term. It would be a shame if you miserably got to your goal weight through excessive calorie restriction, damaged/lowered your metabolism, became extremely prone to binging, end up binging, and undoing your progress within a couple weeks time.
@honeydew16783 жыл бұрын
Ethan isn’t responsible enough to take care of his own health. I love him and the whole H3 crew but I have zero faith in him when it comes to diet and health…
@TheRealAshtray3 жыл бұрын
omg thank you for saying this. When he said he was counting calories along with restricting himself so heavily I got super worried. I did that for a LONG time and developed an ED because of it. 1200 is not sustainable for myself (a 5'4, 22yr old female) let alone a full grown man.
@ksinclair84333 жыл бұрын
Ethan seems to have the idea that the bigger you are, the harder you need to diet. Figure out maintenance calories for your height and current weight, -500 from that number. Commit to not only eating that every day but counting correctly and you’ll loose weight. Someone who is 200lbs ish and Ethan’s height probably has a maintenance of around 2200 calories, meaning he could eat at 1500-1700, throw in a couple of extra walks a week and he will see results, STILL FEEL FULL more importantly.
@Fribee833 жыл бұрын
@@honeydew1678 Yea, if there's one thing we've learned about Ethan, it's that he doesn't take care of himself. He'll either have to hire a personal trainer to keep him in line or have a diet plan that really eases him into it. The first 2-3 weeks of a diet requires a lot of will power since you have to change eating habits and you're hungry all the time just from not eating as much as before. After that window, it does become easy but...Ethan seems like the kind of person that'll break a diet really quickly.

It's crazy because I practically have the same relationship with food as Ethan. About two years ago I was sick of being the weight I was and practically starved myself on a 800-1200 calorie diet for around 5 months (very miserable and I do NOT advise). From that, I did lose all my weight, but lemme tell ya that my metabolism was practically destroyed and I gained weight with the smallest increase in my calorie consumption. Not only that, but I also gained a massive fear of food. I thought that one slice of cake would basically destroy my whole life. When I eventually did let go and started eating again, my body went into survival mode and I've had problems with binge eating ever since. I'm now at a place where I've gained back all my original weight (and then some). In the comment section, people really love getting on their high horse and acting superior under the guise of "suggesting healthy methods to lose weight". As a person who's suffered just like ethan, I can say that if I was in his shoes right now, I'd also be resorting to last ditch efforts to lose weight because of the constant focus people draw to the food he's eating, or the exercise he's doing, or suggesting new diets to try out. we're lucky that ethan is this open about his problems, so perhaps we should all let go of our saviour complexes and let the dude figure it out himself, because sometimes I think it's mentally doing more harm than good. ✌🏻 peace and love though, let's all try and hate ourselves a little less 😩

Omg same! I would work out everyday & eat less, but later on the day I'll be hungry & starts binging. The weight wouldn't drop (only 2 pounds in 3 months) but later on I stopped caring about my weight & I lost way more....fuckung weird

There’s so many ways available to eat healthier especially for Ethan. Your “relationship” with food isn’t real it’s an excuse. You make the conscious decision to change your lifestyle or you just aren’t trying hard enough. We all know what you should and shouldn’t do to lose weight or be healthy, some people just make every excuse in the world before doing it. It’s laziness that makes you starve yourself to lose weight because you don’t want to put in the work and then you blame your “food addiction”. Maybe Ethan and yourself should just quit being so sensitive and take the massive amount of advice available to you instead of pretending that people holding your hand along the way of taking care of yourself like 90% of adults do on their own, are hurting your mental health. Grow the fuck up
@libbozine323 жыл бұрын
@@mikejones2405 hey mike, if you werent an actual insensitive bozo youd understand human biology and recurring studies that show there are countless factors that contribute to a persons weight beyond just the food calories they consume .But if you refuse science that's on you. A persons willpower often has nothing to do with it as humans are simply not meant to diet. but again if you dont give enough of a sht about people to listen to them and work with them, supporting them and not shaming them as that has PROVEN that doesnt work (to shame) (feel free to google), then you will remain stubbornly and ignorantly in your lonely, holier than thou bubble and theres no point to change your mind. nice job!

I feel Ethan on his weight loss issues/journey. I’ve had a little bit of short lived success with it for a period in my life. In that period I remember thinking “wow, I can’t believe this took me so long to accomplish, it’s no where near as bad as I made it in my head.” Then things happened and mental health took a fall and it grew back into the mountainous task it used to be. I’m probably the fattest I’ve ever been now and have been pretending I’m really about to start taking it seriously again but here I am a few years later. Having had that period of good health and failing again for so long after kinda makes it the worst of both worlds. It’s not a complicated task at all. Eat about the right amount of calories, aim for well rounded nutrition from your food, and maintain some level of physical activity, even if that’s just walking. That being said, the guilt is just amplifies more and more after fucking it up so much. All for some twisted thing in your brain. I don’t even know why I do it, it feels like the hardest thing in the world to stop myself from eating too much. Not the end of the world though. We’re not out of time or attempts.
@ChadKirk3 жыл бұрын
Try walking. Walking is underrated as hell. Just eat healthier food and walk more. Eat a “bad” meal every once in a while but don’t go binge mode on it
@baileytrujillo18343 жыл бұрын
Nutrition is a physiological experience, and diet culture heavily impacts all people in unique ways- our experiences and narratives about our bodies look different between men+women+people. Men suffer within a different toxic culture when it comes to diet/exercise/mental health. You are successful because you are eating, because you are acknowledging that you'd like to supplement habits that feel more like the real you into your life, you are successful because you are doing what you can and know how to do. Mental health is health, and it heavily impacts the choices we make to take care of ourselves, or even avoid that process- self care becomes even more challenging when you feel unworthy and ashamed, and exercise and nutrition IS self care. I am grateful for, and proud of you for sharing this, i've been in recovery from disordered eating habits that involved binging and restricting for 5 years now, it's incredibly challenging to feel okay in this world. Psychology is a HUGE part of our habits. You have never failed or fucked up. Straying from a set trajectory in your mind doesn't mean failure, being fat doesn't mean failure or laziness, relaxing doesn't mean failure. You are still healthy because you are alive and aware of your aspirations, you are so correct in saying that you have time, limited time but you have time. Walking is good, but start incredibly small, clean once a week, or even move your arms and toes for 5 minutes when you think about moving. Most importantly, befriend yourself as you are now, say to yourself "hey Jeekobz, i love you and i have not given up on you. you are going to make so much positive change in your life and you are going to start now, within your mind and heart, because anytime is the perfect time, and the mind and heart is where this change begins." I hope you are feeling loved and respected, and I hope you can feel your own love and support on your life journey, health isn't a destination, it's a lifestyle. you already are the person you aspire to be, you now need support as you take action.

The Steve video from Nick Jr. hit me because it was nice. It has been a really long time since I haven’t heard a dramatized, politicized video attacking someone or being snarky. It was just a nice message. A call back to when we were kids. I’m 37, so I was a teenager, and I only saw Blues Clues while babysitting (I have three younger siblings). And it was just really nice to see and hear. It wasn’t negative or toxic. It validated a lot of people’s feelings about how hard life is right now, and the nostalgia of when we didn’t have to worry about the hard things. Anyway. Have a good evening everyone.

I’m with Ethan. I remember watching Blues clues around 9/10 years old. I have a younger brother and we’d watch it together all the time (and actually I enjoyed watching it). Same with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Dora the Explorer. There’s something about interactive shows mixed with education. I could probably sit through a couple of episodes now at 26.

I have multiple siblings 10+ years younger than me and I firmly believe the shows made for younger kids are SO SO SO much more tolerable than the Disney shows with real people made for older kids. Like paw patrol is not bad at all.

@@MollyMctitties I also agree with this, but they’ve dropped the ball with cartoons. Cartoon Network in the 2000s was absolutely amazing, I’ll still go back and watch those shows

@@sarahduplessis6606 I agree! There are a few that I enjoy like the loud house but many are unbearable lol
