as much as i love that they show different formats this was not a well choosen match up. I mean a fair creature beatdown deck with one unfair card(goblin lackey) vs. a combo control deck, with mass removal, land destruction, instant tutors and sol ring lands yeah sounds fun. And the fact that the goblin deck had 10 sideboard cards vs. 4 and the 4 where miles better because chill is busted like hell) then the 10...def not the best promotion for this format imo.

Such a fun format! Is there a very stable meta lr does it have space for homebrew? I'm interested in playing a less powercreep format rn and premodern seems perfect. Thanks a lot and good luck in the tournament!
@wimdeboer41845 ай бұрын
@@54regas tier 1 decks are stable but the meta is slowly moving constantly. Current best decks are something like: Dreadnought Elves Goblins Burn Replenish Oath BW control Many other decks can win. Stasis, Survival variations, mono b control, Pit-Rack, the Rock, UW control, uw White weenie, Enchantress,... Other decks excel in the right meta. Bratpack example maybe RW Rifter. And new decks and variations are still made. BW control for example is a recent development of Dead Guy Ale.

Pre-Modern with Andrea Mengucci, this is already awesome and I haven't even watched yet. Just making a comment and watching later for sure. Can't wait! EDIT: Okay, the video was fun. The match wasn't as close I had hoped but that is just these decks having a werid matchup I guess. The opalenscence deck seems extremely strong, having tutors, mana acceleration in the form of Ancient Tomb and City of Traitors. (and a bit of Frantic searching sprinkled in) Without one of the most broken sideboard cards though, game 2 would have been much tougher. I think Pre-modern as a format still needs quite a bit of tweaking, as it seems swarmed with combo decks, looking at the metagame. Still, I love having this format around and it will probably evolve into something really fun, playing with the nostalgic cards that some of us grew up with and love.

@@strangemolars Well, judging from the only source I have, which is the official Pre-Modern website, they feature 17 decks of which 7 of them are clear combo decks (over 40% of the meta represented) The 'aggro' decks are only 3 decks, 2 of them being goblins and elves, which operate more like combo decks at times as well. This opalescence deck isn't even in the list and I've seen several Intuition based combo decks that aren't on there as well. I didn't even count the reanimator deck as a combo deck, which it technically is. If you really know for certain this format is not for a large part combo based, point to some evidence or share your knowledge here. I see a format that is still very early in it's infancy and has a ton of broken things and no Force of Will to keep it in check. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is a reality judging from the information at my disposal.

11:47 Pedantic question: what determines the order of the Goblin Warchief and Chill cost effects? Because if the Warchief effect applied first, it couldn't reduce the cost (no colorless to reduce it by, so costs (R) before and after), and then the Chill would make it cost (2)(R), so three total, not two like they played it. So can you choose the order of cost-modification effects, or is the order fixed and was in Thoralf's advantage here?
@shadovvsmurf5 ай бұрын
That sounds like the Faceless Butcher/Astral Slide Combo, when you cycle a card with Astral Slide on the board you target your own faceless butcher to remove it from the game and the creature removed with Faceless Butcher does not return to the board and you can continue to do this each time you cycle a card.

However, I would instinctively think that it still costs 3 mana because i would apply the discount first as it is under his control and the the tax. Can you actaully choose the order of the cost modifications or is it opponent first (or maybe always tax first)?
