If you aren't happy with the rock color you settled on you could try a gradient? From that yellow pallet you started with to the one you ended up with, bottom up kind of gradient; it'd pull off that "yellow or orange?" feel as it'd be both!

While everyone else has already noted that the palette definitely needs to be more leaning towards the oak from earlier or the palette used for gerudo town, and someone else pointed out the absence of the sword from the 8th heroine statue, I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that the great gerudo skeleton is missing its wings, which is one of the main differences between it and the hebra skeleton since both or just kinda whale skeleton shaped

@@catrinacoons390 He mentioned the cabin on Mount Granajh at 9:36, just didn't show it. Since the shadow pedestal design is similar to the shock arrow one with the mural in the Gerudo Highlands which you can see in the video, I'd assume they just used a similar design.

so the reason the cliffs look kind of orange ish in that second clip you showed is because the sun was setting, and also the higher ones are a darker shade of yellow and go into more orangey colors. but at the ground level where link walks, the cliff colors, when the sun is directly above, they are definitely a sandy/yellow color. hope this helps :)

@lolli_popples

I definitely think a mixture of yellow and brown blocks would fit the region better, but I also think mixing in some copper might be a good idea if it’s possible, as pink-orange tones of that block match how it looks far away a bit better. (Stripped jungle wood might be a good addition as well) Although I feel like the tone of the rock changes between the snowy portion of the highlands and the more Southern portion of them. The Snowy portion is definitely redder than the Southern section. Also changing the grass in the taobab region to path blocks might help with the color (unless you do biome customization to to change the color later, then it doesn’t really matter)
@ARDIZsq
@ARDIZsq Жыл бұрын
Something potentially worth noting for color matching in the future: I HIGHLY recommend checking out The Textures Resource. It's part of a larger project that hosts models, sprites, sounds, and textures from video games, and The Textures Resource has the texture files from some of the areas in Breath of the Wild. (Listed under the Wii U version, not the Switch version) They have Gerudo Town and general terrain textures, so checking those out and matching the colors with Minecraft blocks will get you as accurate of colors as possible, without having to guess from the frankly intense lighting in-game.

The gerudo region has different rock colors in different sections. For the lower areas of the highlands (in the north around the Illumeni plateau) that orangey color is perfect. There’s another different rock texture in the valley leading to the yiga hideout that the orange color also works well for. The tops of the highlands (around gerudo summit) could be even more red. But the lower areas do have more of a sandy color that the other palette works better for.
@JacobPDeIiNoNi
@JacobPDeIiNoNi 11 ай бұрын
@@sslender07I think that palette would also work for the tabantha/hyrule ridge rocks (I assume that’s what you mean, hebra mountain rocks are dark grey) but those ones seem more cream colored to me, so a palette like that one but more birch wood or sandstone would be best I think.

Amazing work as always! I believe the highlands north of the gerudo tower are more red while the highlands to the east have the yellow look. In game I’m pretty sure I remember spots where these two rocks meet and you can clearly see the color comparison. This might help with the issue of things looking right. Great series so far! As for the cliff faces, the bottom right parts of the gerudo cliffs (the region around the lomei labrytnth) are more yellowish, and the northwestern ones (the area around the yiga hideout) are more reddish orange, which may explain some of the confusion about which color to pick. The valley between the cliffs just northwest of the wasteland tower (where the quarry is) acts as a nice sort of barrier between the two cliff colors.

I cant' believe I missed that this was posted but then I haven't been on my computer. But I love the color you picked for the gerudo region and love that you added in the moldugas. This is still so exciting to watch. Building the town at an angle really added an extra layer of texture to the architecture.

To address the color issue with the canyon walls, maybe have the regions up closer to the mountain and the forest were you find that Ganon Horse be reddish orangish brownish, and have the area down closer to the desert itself have the tan walls. Just an idea for a compromise that would help to better blend the transition from mountains to desert.

Do the insides of the shrines. You could use piston elevators to lower down into them. The recreate the paths.

I was wondering if they'd build the interiors off map and then use a button and command block to teleport the player, but if they had room to do pistons that would be cool

I'm loving this series so far! You can tell this comes from a place of pure respect for BOTW and it just feels really humble and sweet! Reminds me of the purity of Minecraft builds back in the day, and I'm going to be so proud and happy for you guys when this is finally over!

I literally love how the soundtracks for each area are in the bg as he’s building it (ex- when he showed the molduga footage, the fight soundtrack was playing) just a small detail that I really appreciate 👍👍 Edit- I’m so excited for Hebra and Rito Village- it’s my fav region in BoTW and ToTK
