Good morning y’all, Glad to see you got the Kabota fixed and the birthing stall looks great. The snow was nice but I love snow, lol We did get our ground for the garden broke up this weekend, and the building cleaned out. It was a good weekend for the homestead had the whole family helping even my mom. She’s been here for the past couple weeks now. Trying by best to keep her safe and 5 kids and a wife! Still got to go to work I do construction for our local government. You asked me what we do to get thru each day I pray like crazy, go to work keep my six feet as best I can. I now wear Lysol like Cologne on my clothes lol and wash my hands like I’m trying to wash the skin off at times. It’s hard times but got to push though, and thankful my feet hit the floor at 4:30 each morning. But keep up the good work y’all and stay safe.

Guys - It does my heart good to see Olivia starting to do so much on the homestead. What she is learning will serve her well for the rest of her life - no matter what direction or profession she chooses. I grew up in farm country and even though I'm an urban tech-nerd now, my "country smarts" have really come back to help me through recent events in the news. Basics don't leave you. And knowing how to pull a simple casserole together with what you have in the pantry versus dining out is a BIG deal these days. Be well and THINK SPRING!

I remember opening the incubator at the end to listen for pecking noises from the chicks hatching. Then many of them died in the shell. I learned later opening the incubator allowing the humidity to escape dries out the inner membrane and the chick cant break out. The last few days are very important never to open it until they are all hatched out.

Recommendations if you are stuck indoors due to C-19 restrictions. Even if you can't get outside, open at least one window for fresh air when the weather allows. Even when the weather is bad, you can often get away with opening a window for a few minutes. It really makes a difference. Try and keep your mind occupied. Reading, listening to music or an audio book, taking up a craft (you don't have to be great at it, the trick is to try something that has always appealed to you), doing crosswords or puzzles, are all good starting points. Plant an indoor salad and herb garden. They don't take up a lot of space, and a few varieties of lettuce are the cut and come again type. Pamper yourself with a long bath session, or something similar. Try to avoid watching too much TV, it might fill the hours, but it generally doesn't stimulate your mind in a variety of ways. I'm not saying don't watch anything, after all, we're watching this video, but limit the hours you watch per day. Try to avoid the news/Internet if the C-19 is taking a toll on your mental health. A step back from all that information can be good anyway, but can be even more important these days. If you are a person of faith, try to set aside a period each day to say a prayer, or read an affirming statement. If you're not particularly interested in faith, some kind of meditation or mindfulness could still help. A moment in quiet reflection never hurts, however you decide to go about it. Hope these tips are of use. All taken from my years of having to deal with my own health problems, so I hope they'll give others at least a starting point. Stay safe.

I've been avoiding "germs " since the flu & cold season started ( I have an auto immune condition - M.G. ). So I may have a jump start on getting used to staying in, but I'm also ready for "spring". Imagine my surprise at the "Social Distancing" orders . I have been careful to mentally mark each days passing & since I am a Believer I pray in gratitude regularly. I think the hardest thing is the least likely thing to be practiced in the world: Reigning in our thoughts . I think having a patterns by which you live and make your self subject to is good for so many reasons. Rules are not to make us slaves but set us free. We're praying for you all & are so glad to have found your channel. God bless you all.

Good morning Lumnahs, just when you think your weather is nice... we're going through the same thing here in Hawaii with the rain ( flooding in some areas). I've shared with you that local farmers have been stepping up to help the less fortunate in our communities by giving eggs and produce for little or for free. People have been sewing masks, helping serve food, preparing shelters, delivering to the elderly. I pray everyone is staying safe at this time. Good to see Figaro flexing some power trip 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ always the supervisor... I pray that our communities will continue to support each other while practicing social distancing. It's difficult, but it's time we get back to being self sufficient and utilize our spaces to full capacity. Small or big garden, enough for your families or just for yourself... sustainability is crucial right about now. God bless you and stay safe everyone.🤙

Good morning Lumnah Acres! Wonderful to see you hatching eggs! I sold my 400 egg wet hatch cedar incubator and will start searching for a small incubator that will hatch chickens and goose eggs. I like the new breeds of chickens but may choose to stick with old fashioned Barred Rocks. Good layer and meat bird. Plus I think they are pretty wth their herring bone pattern. That wood shed is coming in handy! We have plenty since we log on our property. It keeps us busy and self-employed through these times. Now we are doing barn chores, mending fences and planning the gardens. I'm interested in seeing how your bees fare. Love honey bees! Folks should be encouraged by your fine homestead, to try their hand! Your quality videos show exactly what was done.... and the results.

16:30 That's some fine precision measuring of those liquids, Al... 18:40 You missed a spot... Here's a math trick that Olivia reminded me of: Take any number and reverse the digits. The difference between the original number and the reversed number is always a whole number divisible by 9 or, zero. Ex: 951 - 159 = 792 divided by 9 = 88; 21 - 12 = 9; 31 - 13 = 18. Etc. 121 - 121 = 0 of course. The kicker is that the numbers in the difference number always add up to a multiple of 9 as well. 7+9+2=18 Man, I'm bored. I still have winter for at least another month. Stay safe.

If you're using LED Grow lights, get a roll of insulator foil and wrap around your plants and the light will refract off of it and you won't have to worry about keeping your plants directly under them.

Here I planted peppers and eggplants today in my harden hear in Georgia. Next week I will be planting black eye peas. My blackberry bushes are blooming. My pear and plum trees have little fruit on them. And my orange trees and lemon tree are full of buds for the first time this year. Yes, we can grow satsuma oranges and a few varieties of lemons in Georgia.

Do you have two switches on top of your lights? Run them 24/7. I suggest turning the light perpetually to the two trays. Keep the light 12-18”above the tray. You’ll have a great spring planting!

Excellent work👍👍👍. Thanks for sharing. As for your seedlings, put aluminum foil on the room side of the shelf unit with the shinny side facing the plants, this way the light is not dispersed and the plants get all the light. I started my tomato plants Feb. 27 and they are 8 inches tall. I also grow hot little peppers, and out of 20 pepper plants 15 have flowers. Moved some to cold frame yesterday. The foil works, you have the space and the plants will start producing sooner than later.

These small incubators all have an inbuilt design flaw in that the heat is not evenly distributed. I would recommend you use a small independent thermometer/hygrometer and place it at egg level but not underneath the heat/fan module. To ensure all eggs get equal exposure to the heat the eggs should be rotated around the box every day.

Nice to see you starting onions from seed! I have tried starting three different types from seed this year for the first time. All long day onions. Two large globe onions (Walla Walla and Ailsa Craig) and one long keeper yellow onion (Patterson). Never could get Walla Walla to germinate, though Patterson and Ailsa Craig came up just fine. I used grow lights similar to yours. But did NOT use a heating mat. You may want to try a heating mat with your Walla Walla to see if it makes a difference. Good luck! And Garden on!

I like the music you had during stacking the wood. I remember stacking wood before being disabled. I sure do miss it. You might could expand the poultry fencing around New Yolk City so the chickens can forage more. That might keep them from flying out. Or put an automatic feeder out for them. Chickens eat all throughout the day. That what they do is eat. That’s their job. Love the videos you put out. Can’t wait for new baby goats. Have a blessed day. 😊🐓🐈🐥🦆🐐🐕

That’s something I’ve always wanted to do but unfortunately the town I live in (southern Ma) won’t allow us to have chickens, I know what kind of nonsense is that right!? Anyway I dug out my peat cups or tablets and got my trays stacked to start into my seeds to get them growing. Looks like your plants are doing well. Can't wait to see your onions up. Also can't wait to see the chicks hatch. Don't you wish you could stack fire wood this fast in real life?! It is so satisfying for me to see all that wood stacked up so nice and neat and full, I can only imagine how satisfying it must be for you guys. Each day, I keep expecting to see baby goats, glad they haven't came yet so you can get the flooring ready for them. I agree Gina, when the weather is nice, it is so nice to be out in it without gloves and heavy coats. Breakfast for supper is always a bonus! I have been keeping busy with three dogs, when nice out, we go out. While inside, I have been baking, making cards, surfing, boxing up donations as I am purging closets and such, watching You Tube and movies. Getting tired of the tv though as I'm not a huge tv watcher. It's on for noise but don't really watch it. Could use more sun, but that will come hopefully. Stay healthy Lumnah Family!

I too am anticipating my garden. I was wondering if turning a small oscillating fan on the floor would help, or must it self dry to completely seal?

Just my opinion, but that view of the wood pile would make a great idea to photo and expand, making it into wallpaper for a feature wall. I think it would look really cool. I love the pattern the ends create! Love to the fam, human and fluffy!*!

You need some reflective material around your plants and grow lights. Watch some videos on cannabis production. You can get a 2x4x7 foot grow tent for around a $100.00 on amazon. We use ours for starting our seedlings. We're to old to bother with pot.
