The "Ishizu" cards only came out in early November, this is one of the quickest hits we've seen in years. I thought Konami would of waited until after they had the chance to reprint the cards before hitting it. Instead they just shot it in the head, after only 3 months. This isn't a bad thing, Ishizu Tear needed to be delt with, and it very much has.

I still think the deck can be top tier, they still have reinoheart and teh field at 3, and the other ones can actually being recycled, i can see it as an engine in Branded, which stoped seeing pay becaus of Ishizu Tear but was never out of the meta organically, and they are still untouched.

I can see crystal beast being in the top 5 best decks after phhy. It does tend to brick, but it can but up a strong board even through bricks, and doesn't really lose to most handtraps. Its main drawback is really just that its quite difficult to play.

You can also Ash Fenrir but then you run into the Spell I mentioned. Nib can win alone, if they don't play Brave. Lava Golem and Eclipse do work out for me tho.

I can see Dark World being mildly playable with this list tbh, no Tear everywhere means the Bystials might lose some playability, and Dark World can easily main deck Lava Golem (at worst its a Fiend to pitch for Gates) since it doesn't care about its normal summon. Dragon Link also seems poised to make a splash, its a crazy combo deck that normally just got shut out by Tear. Very interested to see where this goes, I'm just sad that Gishki Spright might not be super playable now with no Elf

Bestials are here to stay. The number of Dark-Grave reliant decks in the game means they're staples until Elemental decks become the norm. Floo losing Stormwind is a massive hit, meaning the next best deck is likely Spright and Kash, both of which love Dark monsters.

Elf was always gonna get chopped. The fact it lacked the same Lvl-Rank lock the other good Spright cards have was always going to be a problem. Especially with full power Gishki gaining horrifying support with a Lvl 2 custom card

I know how he feels. I’m a Retournée who got back into Yu-Gi-Oh! Because of the widespread cultural impact of Master Duel. And I, likewise am DEVASTATED by this banlist. I have also been building ishizu Tear. I live in Las Vegas; and I’ve never had a chance to play this first Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck I’ve ever built… =\ this is really sucky I can’t believe the TCG and MD formats have somehow diverged so much that MD is a full Era behind the already lagging TCG. It’s incredibly poor bussiness strategy. Runeterra Pokémon and magic are proof that you clan prerelease the bleeding knife’s edge of your TCG meta on your simulator without any decrease in card sales.

Kashtira, solid but beatable. Tear, prob just an engine in Branded or Kashi Sprite, still playable but with Toads access pretty much blocked off, i think its gonna finally pull out the swap frogs. Flunder interacts interestingly with Kashi so i wonder how its gonna develop without its Statue.. Also with the amount of tear out of the format i could see a resurgence of swordsoul and mathmech and even a reduction of bystials being played making labyrinth, drytron, and eldlitch playable. Im looking forward to build for this format but man, im gonna need some time to figure out what im taking to LA

Seeing how tear is the strongest deck in the no ban list format, this was needed. I still wouldn't be surprised if they are still playable to some degree after all these hits. In the OCG they are still a dominant force even though they have been hit to a similar degree, just not tier 0.

Whats crazy is that i've tested the deck with an additional small Lightsworn package. You can still build some crazy end boards despite all this because the search spell is an additional mill 3. This deck is just unkillable, but its for sure not meta anymore. There's just way too many Ash Blossom chokepoints now I think and you have to also play through at least 1 Bystial, though cards like Card Destruction and Hand Destruction get around this a bit (but its obviously a gamble, which is very fitting for what was such a previously RNG heavy archetype before the Ishizu support came out). At most, its tier 2. But yeah, this deck can still mill for days. It just requires more non-archetype support to pull it off.

Why both the Tear and Ishizu cards didn't have restrictions on their effects to limit what you could mix them with, I'll never understand. As much as I liked messing around with Pure Ishizu (my early days of Yugioh I used OG Kelbek, Mudora and Agido quite a bit), I fully understood they were going to get hit.

@@autobotstarscream765 people don't play it right I think. Honestly part of the trickyness of ghoti is in how you time the effects for the synchros. Also ghoti doesn't have any negations it's just interruption in the form of banishing. If the deck has actual negations like a QuickPay spell or extradeck monster it would be 5x better

2 things; 1. As someone who had just recently purchased a IRL Mathmech, good riddance to Ishizu Tearlament, Konami West knew that if they didn't hit deck before the stuff came out, they would have to slaughter Tearlament, and I think Amazing Defenders sales showed that... 2. As someone who got a Swordsoul Tenyi deck not too long ago, minus some obviously stupidly expensive extra deck staples I will never use any due to the wyrm lock among other cards I would want to play, maybe a resurgence in Swordsoul Tenyi might happen... then again Dragon Link might just decimate Swordsoul Tenyi with the new unbanning...

To solve the time rules you could change it to a chess style timer where you each have 20 or 25 minutes and when you have priority your time runs down and then you can pass priority by hitting the timer. This guarantees matched will be done within a certain time limit as they do now, rewards quick decision making a knowing the cards in the format while removing any incentive to play slowly as you only waste your own time. Master duel does something similair and no one slow plays on purpose, and if they do you at least get the win

There was a couple who ran a game store and had regular Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments, and they posted a short video on KZbin last month about the terrible turnout in their last tournament- only seven people showed up, and they ALL had Sprite Elf decks. The couple said Sprite Elf ruined the game, so I'm glad it's banned.

My only disappointment is that we got unlimited Spyral Resort instead of taking off the banlist and limiting Spyral Master Plan. It would have been interesting to see if having Resort, Master Plan and Quik-Fix at 1 each would actually propel Spyral into meta relevance.
