Nice review Simon and George, but I prefer the Pangea green with white top for the classic look. Also, my ‘21 P400 SE had a lower sticker ($73k) with more standard equipment.

No tow hooks on Series1 or any other Series. Those galvanised fittings on the picture of the Series1 are just light duty bumpers or steps that were also useful on some versions as cargo tie-downs.

Hi Simon and George, inspired by this video we visited Grange where to our surprise despite the crazy high price and marmite colours, we liked it and tried to do a deal. Sadly because other dealers are offering bigger discounts to sell the ones sat in showrooms we were offered a better deal elsewhere😕 Even tried name dropping you and George 😂 to do a deal. So, we’re moving from P400e 110 to 75th!! ……….. if everyone laughs at us it’s all your fault 🤞 🤣. KR Rory

Simon off topic but can you do an install of a hitch (receiver) for your defender? I'm looking to buy a defender but so few defenders have hitches in my area.

I'm not sure that would be relevant to you. The European towbar (variants of fixed, detachable and deployable) is distinctively different to the 2" receiver you have in North America. I could be wrong of course, in that the actual hitch member is the same with the receiver portion only being different. I suspect it is a very different product however. I am not a fan of the Ineos Grenadier but they have been very clever in designing an universal towbar (hitch member) that incorporates the ability to attach an European flange towbar or combination jaw/towball and also the North American/Australian/New Zealander style 2" receiver.

Thanks Simon. Agree they need more uniqueness so people can't copy. Anyone with the cash can get their own defender wrapped that colour. A green steering wheel, rather than black or white. Green stitching as you said and a one off green 75 spare wheel cover.

Simon…thank you for mentioning these to me…it is the £95,000 price that worries me a lot!! I’m not sure the 75 spec’ is quite “me” and I like all the goodies so the missing bits might irritate. I think it needs to be a super low mileage 110X pack that is ex JLR for nearer £70ish sounds more attractive. What does seem to be being talked about now is the ease of them being stolen…is the software making theft easier or is it more keyboard warrior hot air??? I think you need to design a Powerful version…maybe with a bag of assorted plastic clips and fixings in the glovebox and a trim tool clipped in the door pocket!! I think George might need the 90/75..an upgrade of the Jimny!! 😀😀😀😀😀

If the defender p400e hybrid came with the 3L hybrid engine of the range rover sport hybrid I'd buy one. The difference I mpg between the 2 is vast 82ishmpg defender to the sports 337mpg.

Nice review but Land Rover gets an A+ on how to make a great looking vehicle look terrible. I know here is the US the same ones have been sitting in the showroom for quite some time, months actually, with most everything else being sold out. That can't be good. The Pangea Green looks good but the color they used on these plus the wheels.... I just don't think the masses or even the collectors will be into.

100% Agree. In the US for 90-100k+ though, I would imagine people want to be happy with what they are leaving the lot with. Not thinking “well I guess if I throw another 5k of mods at the car I can live with it”. For 100k+ you need to be in love with what you’re buying.

The Grassmere Green works for the original Land Rover as it had a militaristic look about it. On the new Defender, I honestly don't think it suits it at all. If anything the darker almost 'racing green' that you showed on screen is a better colour in my opinion. Steel wheels in that Grassmere Green would have looked better than the alloys. Nobody really remembers this colour first hand by now, although the darker green is far more familiar and I feel that is the actual representative Land Rover (as the Defender used to be) colour. I agree with you that there should be more unique features and not just a set of added accessories that to be frank, anyone can add to their Defender anyway. I personally wouldn't touch this 75th Anniversary edition with a barge pole and I'm a huge fan of the new Defender as well as the old one.

Doesn’t seem like it has anything my X Dynamic HSE doesn’t have. Plus it’s missing the USBs and click and go. That material on the centre console is the Robustec that trims my seats in the X Dynamic. It’s a cool colour but not worth £20k more than mine considering mine is higher spec.

What a joke! A couple of stickers and green paint and they have the nerve to charge extra despite stripping out some of the tech seen in other models. LR need to take a look at what other car companies do for ‘special edition’ - as a start I totally agree it should have the 75th logo embossed in the head restraint or seat back.

There’s been a couple at my local dealer for a while now. They are horrendously ugly in my opinion and seeing them in the metal re-enforced that impression for me. The ‘standard’ versions look miles better. Each to their own.

JLR showrooms have big windows... so they can see the punters coming. Seriously overpriced in my humble opinion but then so are they all, compared to what I paid for mine back in lockdown. Hate the wheels but the green coachwork is OK, I still like my Pangea green more. Nevertheless, thank you for the tour videos, Simon, you're providing us with an excellent service. 👍

Mr Landrover man, I think landrover has missed out on a car for the common person. If you look at pick trucks around £20 to 25k, these are the cheap as chips 4x4. Landrover needs to bring back the classic and basic Landrover back for this price range. This company focuses on £50k onwards and upwards prices. All we want from LR is cheap as chips 4x4. For Mr and Mrs average wages earner. I am afraid I've never bought an LR and can not afford one unless I win the lottery. So, LR is not listening to its customers. We need a small sukizi sized LR and a beetle cultured LR for the common people. Without his in their sales portfolio, they will lose many sales and miss out on this wonderful opportunity.
