I put a Magnuson SC in my 2019 TRD Off Road in winter 2019, and the difference was night and day.. The 4Runner 5th gen engine has always left me feeling that my big 4Runner felt underpowered, ESPECIALLY bogged down by all my overland gear on the highway.. I received the exact same gains that you guys did, and it (to me) made the 4Runner feel as powerful as an SUV of this size should.. Nothing more, nothing less, which I absolute love!.. Ok a tiny bit more lol.. I could now easily overtake vehicles on the highway now, even fully loaded with my overland gear.. Off Road is where I find it shines!.. I love technical off roading, such as rock crawling, and my 4Runner already did it VERY well, but now I require slightly less boot to get over rocks and obstacle, meaning less fuel used.. Anybody with a 5th ge 4Runner that is debating on getting this supercharger.. Just do it!.. You won't regret it... My husband and I also compared old and new MPG and seen improvement in highway, by a tiny bit... However, if you have a heavy foot, it will cost you a bit more! Just do it!

I know URD put out an upgrade kit for it but even still people have issues with them. You would be better off turboing your Camry rather than supercharging it. Turbos get more out of a higher RPM, low displacement engine than a supercharger would. But then you run into the questions regarding practicality. Why? What are you wanting to use it for? Are you willing to do extra maintenance? Etc.

I'd love to supercharge my 4runner, but honestly I like the Range it has for camping, people will say "Supercharging actually helps fuel economy" but that's a false positive because the computer is getting a confusing air/fuel ratio when calculating fuel econo, but for those who have done the leg work on their supercharged 4.0s say that pump to pump mileage has decreased undoubtedly. Now if my rig was an iron warthog sure, what's a couple of Rotopaxs of extra gas not gonna solve when it comes to overall range. My setup is more lean and light and made for medium duty.

Yeah I think the “better MPG” is a false positive claim. Even if your MPG increases slightly, any gains will be offset by the higher premium fuel grade you have to use (instead of regular 87 octane) so in the end you’ll be paying more regardless.

@@coreybragan2902 - You will get a 1-2mph improvement with the updated tune for the supercharger. Less hunting around from the transmission between 4th & 5th gear as well. Some say the superchager will cause increased engine wear, but i've seen trucks with over 150k miles on them with a SC and they run fine.

2017 Tacoma 6 cyl. Automatic. Thinking about a power adder just to make off the line a little better. I've noticed my truck seems a little sluggish pulling away from a red light. I don't want to have to floor the pedal, just want to give it the gas and have it pull out better than it does now. For that I don't think I want to spend 5 grand. Have been wondering if I could upgrade the intake and throttle body and give it a little more air. Of course I'd put headers on as well but haven't researched it that far just yet. Don't want to hurt gas mileage, rather, would like to improve it by a few MPG. Current highway is anywhere between 13 and 22 MPG, depends on the average speed and whether there's a headwind or not. City typically runs 17 to 18 MPG. Your comments?

Intake and headers will improve performance and possibly increase fuel economy as well. Another easy modification you could look into is a throttle body spacer which will pair nicely with a cold air intake while also helping gas mileage. One more modification I would consider is a tune. With all those performance parts, a tune will help maximize the efficiency of each part installed. Great thing about our tunes is that it will give you better fuel economy, but also adapt accordingly to whichever modification is installed next. Hey there! Magnuson offers a 3yr/36k powertrain warranty and for an extra cost 5yr/60k. So nothing to worry about there. Your dealer cannot void a FULL warranty. Living in Colorado @ 7000ft elevation, the fuel economy, torque and hp is very disappointing on our 2021 4Runner Limited compared to our 2005 4Runner V8 we traded in for the 2021. Supercharging certainly will help in hp and torque, but what about fuel economy? Looking at the ROI, is it better to wait until the 2023/24 next gen comes out and retail our 2021 or supercharge now and drive it for 500,000 miles? Thoughts?

Is it possible to get more power by using high octaine fuel ? In Europe we have a common solution that allows to inject autogas aka LPG in liquid phase directly into the engine. LPG has octaine number 100 MON | 105 RON ! Because LPG injected in liquid phase during the vaporisation phase it cools down cylinders and pistons.

Thank you! I would always use 91 min. Mpg depends how you drive. If you are having fun it will be less. Normal driving will be close to stock. Usually in the Toyota flashes the firm up shifting so it slips less from the torque converter. The kit is $5995. Install is about 12-15 hours. We dyno for free. Magnuson superchargers are relatively low maintenance, only recommended for oil to be checked every 60k and 100k miles. The supercharger does not change any of the regular maintenance to the vehicle!

You said 100 Pound foot of torque gain = 380 ? From stocked 280. And only extra 50HP to the rear at mid rpm range ? So. 330HP & 380 Torque, im i close ?

Agreed! Plus the 2020 ECU tuning is not available. Get a 18 or 19.

The reason we do that is because not every single dyno reads the same when it comes to overall horsepower and torque. Dynos are best when used to measure the difference not the overall horsepower number.

@@keystonerider1308I'm using Orange Virus Tuning. However, I have a 2018, which no calibration is required on the Stage 1 setup. Anything before 2018, you'll need custom tuning. You will also need custom tuning for the stage 2 setup (smaller pulley, larger injectors). The Harrop has been flawless
