4:50 Try using some brake cleaner for rubber lube, you'll be amazed. I found it out by accident once when I picked up the wrong can one time. Your stuck motor reminds me of last week's hell. In '91 I bought a '69 SS Elcamino and 6 years ago I sold it to my best friend. Last march, he passed away and left it to my daughter (she wanted it when I sold it but, I talked her out of it). It hadn't been started for 22 years! I cleaned out the whole fuel system. I removed the plugs and squirted oil in all the cylinders and made sure the crank turned. Then, I changed the oil and primed the heck out of the oil pump. Reinstalled the distributor and cranked it over so, I could see 50+ psi on the oil gauge. Reinstalled the plugs, put fuel in carb through the vent, and started it. It fired right up and died after a few seconds. It did this several times. I was working the throttle to keep it running, nothing over 2,000 rpms. The 5th and last time, it made kind of a "klink" sound when it quit. Crank wouldn't turn. #3 plug is regapped as in zero gap. Used my camera, shattered piston. When I get my Stupidru back together, I'll pull it and see if There's enough left to fix. Hope you have better luck! At least yours might only have rusty cylinders.

Difference of the tanks… The fuel pump “hole” is bigger on the 99+ tanks. It took me forever to find an insert that could be used with an external pump. Remember when this cobra was built, fox body stuff was readily available. I ended up using the aeromotive setup but was expensive and new. I believe that is the reason for the swap.

It is also much cheaper to convert to return style fuel with this tank and the baffling was not good on the stock tank. The common swap became to do an 03/04 Cobra tank as it had much better baffles versus the fuel pump basket all other 99/04 used.

My vote for future of the car is when the built 5.4 goes back in the Lightning use the stock 5.4 short block in it and have the 99-01 C heads rebuilt and put it back that way. Since the engine turns back a bit but is locked up when you turn it forward , my best guess without having seen it is that the timing chain is broken on one side and is binding up locking the engine. Dual overhead cam engines tend to still move some usually backwards if a timing chain chain breaks.

@@MruGotP3NED1 I would expect a lot more carnage in one of the cylinders if a valve dropped though. I mean unless it was a really low RPM failure, but that doesn't explain how the idler got annihilated by the belt like that. The keepers and spring were still in their proper places as well, so it seems more like a timing set failure, either before or after the engine stopped running abruptly lol

Triple bypass open heart surgery in 2019 then in September of this year I had a massive heart attack while at my wife’s OB/GYN appointment, and was in cardiac arrest for 45 minutes. Doctors said it is a miracle that I didn’t suffer any brain damage and woke up after being on life support over 19 days. I'm going to say that Rev limiter was hit, Valve bounced off the seat and/or broken timing chain, engine stops abruptly(because of the broken valve/piston contact of course) and the blower wants to keep pumping them boosties, and voila belt rips the pully apart and all goes silent. What a sweet car though. Glad to see it being brought back to life! Good job guys.

Fun fact - the Fox4 platform - a heavily modified version of the Fox platform dating back to 1979 on the Mustang - ran from 1994 to 2004 at eleven years, nearly breaking the record for the Fox platform at fifteen years (1979 to 1994). My guess: Alternator failed, leaned the engine out, melted a piston, lost compression, car sat from a bad engine that still “ran” Though the broken idler is strange

Tried posting a link but seems it it not allowed. I searched beefcake on blueoval news and a link came up from SVT performance. Stock motor was put in after the built one up blew. Not good news... Needs new motor and no good forged components of value from okd one.

It won’t let me post links but keep checking the comments of this video, there are many people who know the story of this car. I just saw a comment from someone who claims he witnessed when this car blew its engine. Good luck with the project tho.

Bubba I was going to say to oil down those cylinders, but that 32V engine will never be the same again, even IF you get it running. The cylinder walls are forked and the rings will never confirm to the crosshatch again. You can run it the best that you can and hopefully it'd be able to work itself out, but I wouldn't trust that engine...especially with boost.

The 4.6 V4s are know to have timing chain tensioner issues. The spring in the tensioner wasn't strong enough and the chain would sometimes jump a tooth and ruin the engine.

Something else to keep in mind from my history with SC these 4V motors back in the day. if you go back with a similar setup, the Vortec uses the same super long 6 rib belt, and stock factory tensioner to drive all the accessories, and the blower, and keep tennis on everything. Some companies offered an 8 rib conversion, to help with belt slip. Still, that's a lot of small idler pullies and accessories winging around at 6-7 K to make power on this motor, and the pullies better be dead on aligned, or ....issues
