You might be too young, but do you remember the Hawai'i Matsuri with a huge nebuta from Aomori in the Grand Parade? It cost a lot of money to ship over to Hawai'i and was assembled by artisans from Aomori, but it rained on the day of the parade and ruined the delicate painted paper of the nebuta! Ooh, the seafood bowls you had looked amazing! The fresh seafood in Aomori and Hokkaido are must-haves. Maybe it's the cold waters they come from. It's also good to try the specialty dishes of the places you visit because you probably won't ever be able to have them in Hawai'i and they usually taste different in other places in Japan. Hontōni oishisō!

Did i miss the dessert segment? So excited to see what you will b sharing with us from japan!! So many things, where to start and what to choose? I can’t wait to see what items won your approval for omiyage home. Space is limited in suitcase so u gotta get picky. The apple burst jelly looks very much like the yokan balls. Glad to see you having an amazing time !! Enjoy! Loving this series!!

Once a year Princess Cruises has a cruise in August to four of the Obon Festivals around Japan.. The cruise goes to Akita, Aomori, Kochi and Tokushima to see four different and unique Obon Festivals. If you get a chance it is something to see. At Aomori we got to walk around the Nebuta floats as they were being prepared to parade and one group offered us watermelon to eat since it was so hot. They were really nice and wanted us to see everything.

How to eat an Apple Jerry ball should be explained by a little paper in the package. It is soooo interesting invention on how to eat it for provably 100 years invented there in Aomori, You can find one toothpick in the bag, you hold a ball on the left hand and hold the toothpick with your right finger and stub the ball, then you will find the skin come out and ready to eat. But you need to be skilled to do it well. Your video is so great. We went to Hirosaki Sakura festival for a week to catch Sakura was full bloomed. We are from Hawaii!

I did not know Japan loves cheese and adopted it in fine cuisine. Interesting. I think the fact Korea did during the Korean war is fairly well known and Korea not only makes cheese now, but is a huge buyer of cheese from the USA as that is the cheese that Korea (and Hawaii for that matter) became accustomed to during and after the wars.
