I'm always just so moved when the critic tastes the ratatouille and instantly flashes back to a bad day as a kid, broken bike, bruises, and his mother's soup instantly makes him feel better. It's so powerful and moving.

I've been to Paris fairly recently and it's like any other large city. If someone wants to make it look horrible, they can find a place where there's garbage and grafitti and make it look horrible. If someone wants to make it look lovely and romantic, they can find the wealthy areas and the tourist spots and make it look lovely and romantic. There's variation depending on the neighborhood. And yes, there's fast food and retail chains like Monoprix and McDonald's. It's a modern city, of course there are. I don't know why people are shocked by that!

@@a.g.demada5263 Honestly, imo, you're fine even so! I'm American, not exactly a skinny model in body type, and don't speak French well at all, so, when I went, I had some definite expectations of not being received well and could imagine what people would think of me! However, there was a convention in Paris that was a bucket list event for me, so I decided to just go anyway. Well nothing really happened. Yeah there were some people I could tell were a bit annoyed I couldn't speak French, but Google translate helped a lot! I could just show them my phone if the conversation was too complicated for me to tell them what was going on. Overall, though, people didn't really seem shockingly rude like I'd been told to expect from Parisians. Maybe I'm just used to city life, having lived in a lot of big cities, but I didn't leave with a bad impression of French people. About the only time when something happened that was a real "wtf is wrong with people?" moment was in Monoprix. I had one of those baskets on wheels, and I'd put my empty water bottle and granola wrapper in it that I'd been carrying around from lunch, so when my back was turned getting something off a shelf some other people threw their trash in too! That was jarring because I felt like I was being treated like a servant or something since I now had to throw away their trash! But that was about the only really bad moment. Overall, it was a great trip!

My parents don’t generally enjoy animated movies but I talked them into watching it near Christmas and they loved it. They got emotional at the end just like ya’ll! I’ve seen it many times but it still gets me 😢

Every time I see this movie I think about this one comment/fan theory that the old lady at the start is actually Ego's mother, which means Remy learned to cook from Ego's mother, which is why said cooking from Remy brought him back to childhood memories

2 fun facts: first when Remi runs by the soup and dry heaves, rats don’t have a gag reflex so the soup was so bad it broke the laws of nature. Second: after Remi was biting Linguini and they’re in the walk in, when Skinner opens the door and the lights get shut off, if you turn the brightness up you can actually watch Linguini grab Remi and put him under his hat.

Fun fact about 7:45 Rats can not biologically vomit, the food won't go up the stomach (same for mouses, rabbits, horses...), so the fact that Remy looked like he was going to puke smelling the soup meant it was that awful aha nice touch here

I cry everytime... being close to mother... that inner child of him who was loved and soft.. but as he grew up the sadness, trauma and loneliness made him into this character who is hard from outside and egoistic.. the bite bringing the child back and that soft side makes me so emotional.... the way that pen dropped... and the way the other hat guy just couldn't speak anything... so damn deep
