Growing up in Albuquerque, NM in the 70s/80s, friends and I did several backpacking trips to the Valle Caldera. In my late teens, we used to drive our 4x4s on an off road trail from Cochiti lake to highway 4 near Los Alamos. Your beautiful video brought those memories back to me this evening. Thank you!

Last camp site I pulled into, I was probably an hour from the last person I saw on a ridge trail. Found a nice groomed out spot and started to pull in, then BANG I ran over a full beer can and it scared the crap out of me, thinking one of my CVs went or something. People who don't haul out their trash are the worst.

Wife and I ran into a locked gate at the end of an MVUM earlier this summer. We were in the Santa Fe National Forest, South of Pecos, NM. Map said we were going to go from Forest Service land to BLM land. There was a locked (and had not been unlocked in years, judging by the rust on the lock) gate on the boundary. I don't know about the drive you all are on, but I have found that there is more range cattle than I've seen in years, too. To the point that I don't want to set up a camp, because I know they'll come through it during the night - as happened to us on that same trip with the locked gate - which also happens to be the unit I drew a mule deer tag in for this fall. Lots of cattle, no deer or elk.

I live in Iran and make nature trips and 4x4 trips, I am happy to use your experiences and become more familiar with the types of equipment and supplies you use. I wish there was a possibility of joint trips in Iran. I welcomed you to travel to the coasts, mountains, forests and spectacular deserts of Iran. Lut Desert with the highest recorded temperature on Earth with a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius is a very spectacular place in central Iran, or the tropical beaches of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, Chabahar port in southern Iran or Hyrcanian forests in northern Iran and many places. I am sure that if you travel to these places, you will fall in love with them

Great video. You guys sure can find some beautiful views. I do have a question though. The squeaking coming from your 4Runner, is that bushings? Have you ever replaced them? If you have, what kind have you used and are they due for replacement because of the noise? Just curious because I have about 150K on my 4Runner and the bushings could use some attention and I was wondering how to go about this. Thanks!

I wanted to ask your opinion about the suspension on your 4Runner. Do you have the KDSS suspension? I’m looking at getting a 4Runner, Off Road trim but wasn’t sure if I need to look for the KDSS.
@SpillSmastin4 жыл бұрын
I can tell you I test drove both and ended up with a Off Road Premium with KDSS. To me it was a night and day difference to me driving the two trucks on the road. Without it felt very mushy and the truck leaned a lot more around sharp turns. If you plan on upgrading your suspension past a 3" lift then avoid KDSS because it causes issues. Toyota claims KDSS makes for better off road as well. In my opinion a 4Runner with KDSS is well worth looking for.
