My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.

Start to use fenogreek seeds, let it soak in water over night .one table spoon full in one glass water over night. Drink the water morning before eating. Also you can eat the seeds after or let it spout ( make sure you learn how to sprout so doesn't get contaminated with bad bacteria) by leaving in fridge for couple days will sprout,just rinse it couple times during the 2 days. There is research about how fenogreek is very healing for the kidney.

I hear you!! I guess we have to get a dietitian to figure out a balanced diet to get the RIGHT amount of nutrients! It just seems like there's so few things that I can eat because I have to restrict potassium(mine is too high) and phosporus! So I'm struggling!

My ckd was found last week after a routine blood and urine test and annual physical followed by a ultrasound. I'm 68 and don't have anyone to "lean on" so I'm trying to learn how to slow the progression. Figuring what to eat and drink seems very daunting, so much to learn and consequences if I fail. I hope to get written information on the do's and don't s when I see my Dr. next so I can clear out my cupboards and make a "safe" grocery list to restock. It's all quite overwhelming.

Debra you are not alone, my mother is a ckd, hypertension and diabetic patient and I’m her caregiver. The biggest challenge is the diet. Some foods are ok with ckd but spikes insulin, some foods don’t spike insulin but will cause kidney damage. It’s a hit or miss with some foods. There’s a lot of info online, some are good information but most is nonsense. I use kidneyrd KZbin channel and their website, they have registered dietitian who are experts in kidney diet. What I found out about kidney disease is maintainable. Diet and exercise will do most of the time. Group meetings are helpful. It may not be reversible but also dialysis is not the only option. I am a type 1 myself in stage 1, a Kidney diet will help him slow the progression but as far as the breathing he needs to tell his doctor to run other tests to check for other underlying conditions that is causing the breathing problem.
