Hi. Can you tell me if a fit and flare can be changed to a mermaid ?
@WeddingFashionExpert Жыл бұрын
It depends on the construction of the gown and the expertise of your seamstress!

Thank you! You videos are so helpful. Any advice on how to address beading on a gown that is causing chafing on the arms?
@WeddingFashionExpert2 жыл бұрын
Hi! SO happy you found this video helpful! I've worn many gowns as a guest to events that have chafed my arms - some options: 1) lotion on your arms helped me a lot! 2) You can have a seamstress remove beads that are bothering you although that can of course change the design and look of the dress. 3)Add a thin layer of tulle under the arm to help create a barrier between your skin and the beading. I also recently saw this video but have never tried this: www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRFWxYF3/?k=1

I just purchased a beautiful fit and flare Enzoani but I would like to make the flare start higher by the knee level. And more flare almost gathered or trumpet type from knees down. Can a seamstress do that? I’m nervous I purchased the wrong fit.

You'll want to talk to the store/seamstress you bought the dress from to see if it's possible.

What about adding a wrist loop? What are your thought on those? I’ve seen some women have those for easy carrying and dancing.
@WeddingFashionExpert Жыл бұрын
This is completely your personal preference! I personally am not a big fan of this because it gets in the way of moving freely and being able to hug people, hold your drink, etc. I like the idea of the bustle freeing up your hands for functionality.

I have the Alyssa Kristin crêpe strapless wedding dress and I really want my boobs to look a little more pushed up (clevage) I’m a b/c cup. A shop suggested misses kisses bra but the wire shows so much on my crêpe dress. I’m not sure if tape will help or if I need to get odd sown into my dress? What should I ask from a seamstress? Please help, my wedding is in April.

Order these (www.amazon.com/dp/B07R78S1CR?ref=exp_lovellabridal_dp_vv_d) and see if this works for you! I personally have used them and have loved how they work with various gowns I've worn.

I am bridal seamstress - strapless dresses CAN be made to fit nearly all forms but the under structure is critical to that fit! I am very well versed in historical garments as well as couture and corset or corselette is the key here. I have noticed over the years the underlayers in these dresses is not up to par for what i do in my customs. You need to mention asking about having a seamstress not just adding cups but fully reinforcing the dress with an internal set of bones. Not plastic boning but real bones! This is what holds to your body and holds the rest of the dress, not the shell fabric! These dresses with nothing for interlining and no true structure are what stretch and don't hold up.

Hi Nayri, I’m in the process of choosing my dress. I love the way a specific fit and flare dress looks on me. However I am concerns it only looks good because I’m standing on a pedestal. I am very petite 5’2… I am worried once it’s been altered/shortened to suit my height that the shape of the flare will just look really weird and awkward if it’s just cut off at the bottom. Is that what happens? Or do they shorten the torso part? I love how the dress fits everywhere on my body. I tried on a 6 and it fits me like a glove!! It’s just the length. I’m worried once it’s being tailored I won’t have that perfect silhouette anymore

Video request: what alterations you can expect from a good seamstress. Example: don’t expect them to make an entirely new top b it they should be able to change cup sizes.
@WeddingFashionExpert2 жыл бұрын
Hi Allison, thank you for your comment! This is a hard question to answer because various dresses require a different level of attention and expertise, and the ability of seamstresses varies. I will say that seamstresses are expected to do alterations which include taking in or letting out the body of the dress, adding in bust cups, adjusting straps/sleeves, hemming the length of the dress, and creating a bustle for the train. Expecting them to make an entirely new top and change bust cup sizes fall under modifications and not the typical alterations. That requires a specific talent and ability to make those changes and does cost more than the average alteration costs for the items listed above. Hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any additional questions.
