I absolutely love Gwendolyn Christie on this show. It’s nice seeing her not in armor or dirty. She’s a beautiful woman and you can tell she loves this role!

20:24 One thing that’s sweet and speaks to how loving the Addams family is (compared to most of the families we see here) is how Morticia doesn’t hug or kiss Wednesday but air-kisses and avoids touching her skin. We see Morticia is obviously comfortable with showing physical affection and wants to show her love but she respects Wednesday’s general preference to not be touched or hugged unless she initiates it. She understands and loves her daughter to give her space.
@thedarkknight22212 жыл бұрын
Catherine Zeta-Jones is PERFECT as Morticia Addams! Not only does she LITERALLY look flawless but she also has this very loving energy she gives off. And Luis Guzmán is equally perfect as Gomez Addams. As the only kid to a single mom I would’ve LOVED for Gomez to be my father. He gave his daughter a fencing blade at 5 years old, taught her how to swim with sharks, and gave her her own sense of independence while being incredibly loving and caring for her. I’ll be sure to do the same thing if I ever have a kid.

Which is so refreshing about this show, right? People have more than one side to them. Usually you're introduced to the cheerleader bully trope and she is JUST awful.

How they portray the parents in this show is somehow realistic in some senses - I don't think they mean to be cruel. Just like in real life.

Love Bianca's character development and look forward to seeing more of her and her growth next season! Honestly all the nevermore characters introduced in the show really all have their own compelling backgrounds and character arcs, can't wait to see Wednesday continue to interact with them

It's rarely being mentioned, but the actor who played Pugsley is so adorable, he made the character lovable even if Pugsley only has a fewer screen time.
@thatcarlchick76552 жыл бұрын
I was about to comment this very thing! The show is full of excellent performances, but Pugsley's actor stands out as well, especially for having so few scenes. Hope he'll have more time in season 2!

Gwendolyn Christie who plays Principal Weems said in an interview that being on Wednesday is the first and only time she’s ever felt beautiful on screen which is a really good thing for her on one hand but also quite sad on another. I am glad she got to feel that on Wednesday.
@enb0t632 жыл бұрын
40:45 oh yeah in a few interviews Jenna has mentioned she didn’t want the love triangle thing but she doesn’t have major control of the show of course, she’s just an actor who is sometimes empowered by Tim Burton to do more with the character (unless she gets more creative control somehow in S2). She’s said she gets why the showrunners wanted to do it (it’s a teen high school drama show) and she’s had to rationalise it as best she can and play it accordingly (E.g. her character’s doing it to solve the mystery, not wanting to be alone)

what i find really funny about the "love triangle" is how it's even less of a triangle than love triangles usually are (they're usually just angles really) because there's something going on with tyler and wednesday (no matter how anyone might view that) and then there's xavier kinda just... there. pining. and being jealous and salty. while wednesday doesn't care about him in that way if at all. it's hilarious. i really hope in the next season they build up their friendship a bit more, because they could be wonderful friends if xavier stops whining all the time lmao

Interesting watching reactions is that some aspects of the re-watch highlight moments of dialog that means something else, or at least has a lot more meaning, once you know what happens later. Good writing for a 'lighthearted' show like this.

The Gomez murder mystery was there to show how deeply the hatred of outcasts actually goes for the Gates family. It plays out kinda "jokey" now but both the secret society (I forget the name) that Wednesday doesn't want to be a part of and the gang that put paint into the sprinkler system were actual dangerous things in the past. There was real hate at play that we are starting to get glimpses of.
@soulsimplistic2 жыл бұрын
I never noticed before but the flashback scene (when Garett is exiting his father "SUV" @16:35) , he is exiting a 1991 Mitsubishi Montero, which would be pretty damn accurate to the time this scene occurs. Such great attention to chronological detail, but the rims are wrong.
@HellfireComms2 жыл бұрын
Luis and Catherine's portrayals of Gomez and Morticia were pretty good (CZJ especially). Hopefully Luis is directed to play him a bit more manic in the second season, that's how he's usually portrayed. The lad playing Pugsley is decent too, but he really needs more time to show off how smart he actually is.

7:27 A little mishap in the details that I caught right here was the date, Nov 9, 2022. I believe its the next episode when Wednesday’s birthday is and on the first episode she says she was born on Friday the 13th. She turned 16 making her born in 2006. The only two friday the 13ths in 2006 were in January and October. So it was Nov 10 the next day even tho her bday is Oct 13th 🤷🏽♀️

This Gomez is more genuine. He is supposed to be less attractive (some have used the word "pig faced") and Morticia is supposed to be very attractive (modeled after Charles Addams 1st and 3rd wives). The comic portraits give a lot of flavor and I think some of them and their concepts have been integrated into the series. And I've appreciated shows that take a Broad City approach to female relationships.

This episode (and Series tbh) Is not much more than the standard Tropes of teen romance dramatic/comedies. It's just updated to include/exploit "modern" sensitivities. It's all very "inclusive" and easily described using the current buzzwords and trends of this modern age. I'm curious if it will remain relevant 20 years hence. Somehow I doubt it will have the Artistic Merit or integrity that a Hitchcock film has despite the current interpretation those films have when interpreted or viewed under the Modern lense that Popular Culture imposes on art.
