Hey Josh, I have a friend on Locals who just came up with some weird tech for Paleo. He said to run Ringowurm as target For Soldiers, Synchro for Cupid Pitch, Increase Level, banish Ringo for the Token, Synchro for an 8 (He played the Gold Pride Eradicator). Effect of Cupid to get Creation Resonator, Summon it, use it and a Paleo, for Ib the World Chalice Justiciar and search for World Legacy Awakens. He said that this was 1 (or 2 pops if lower on LP) and a Spin/Pop with Unicorn/Cerberus or a Skill Drain/Recycle with Gryphon. He said that to reduce the amount of Bricks, he didnt play World Chalice Guardragon (Target for Soldiers and Ib) but said that it was a possibility. I thought it was way too much effort for what is worth, and if you dont have burst in GY you kill the best target for rollback in Daruma, but he said it was a fun way to play the Deck since you get to resolve the Knightmares' secret effects.

Most of the Paleozoic "techs" that people come up with have the same issue, they increase your ceiling going first, but don't help the deck at all going second. Putting aside the fact that you'd have to dedicate a lot of valuable extra deck space to a Ringowurm line, those kinda plays would make you more susceptible to monster effects, when one of Paleo decks' strong suits is that they normally don't care about that stuff. And going first, you don't usually need a higher ceiling because Paleos + friends can do just fine on their own.

Unless he wants do that for content/as a sub goal, there is no reason to do that. As you can see by his various Paleozoic videos, it's arguably one of, if not THE slowest "viable" deck right now... if we assume that the elo system will be working similarly to WCQ rankings, it will benefit decks with a 50%+ winrate that end the game quickly. Paleos are simply not made for that kind of environment, at least if you actually want to do well.

Played against a paleo deck on md recently, did you know the you can steal paleos with graydle cards even though they're supposed to be unaffected by monster effects? I'm guessing graveyard effects are classed differently but the paleo player took a long while to end turn when his xyz paleo switched sides.

Blame komoney for turning their game into 1 card combo and hand trap central. We play paleo so we can still beat those dumb decks and make most hand traps in the format into bricks. At least paleo games average around more than 2-3 turns unless the rest of the garbo komoney decided to print.

Especially if you're playing Unchained, since that matchup is not great for Paleos, IF the Unchained player knows what they're doing.

@josh I am not sure what you think, but I think a more competitive version of paleo runs: Monsters: 1 lab lady 1 lab lady of castle 2 torbie 3 back jack No morganite, and the rest are your favorite traps plus big welcome at 3. For defense I like 2 threatening roar, 3 waboku, 2-3 daruma. I love the dragons and maid, but they are not as consistent imo/experience. Cheers. Love the games.
