I was an illustration major, in school one of our teachers had actually worked on the Disney stamp collection. He showed us the literal hundreds of subtle, mostly unnoticeable revisions he was asked to do and it was absolutely crazy. Notes like "the eye is .001mm off" and such. So if they are like that towards their stamps, I cannot imagine what the FX people are going through for their big money projects.

While that might be true, the biggest trouble they dump on the post-production contractors and artists is poor planning, meaning they just assume any scene filmed anyway can accommodate any rendering they want added in and demand it to look good on preposterous deadlines

Most of the Phase 1 movies didn't feature well known characters and they didn't all do great in the box office but they came together in the Avengers and became mega stars. A big issue now is that they've introduced a bunch of characters and then haven't done anything with them for years. We also have no idea when they're going to pop up again. An Avengers movie to end Phase 4 would have done a lot to solidify these characters and give the MCU a sense of direction.
@casualfanatic4217 Жыл бұрын
I think a good idea to kick off phase 4 would’ve been setting up the Midnight Suns. Every summer they’d have their normal superhero movie but Every Halloween they’d introduce a member of the MS (Moon Knight, Blade, Black Knight, Elsa Bloodstone and the Werewolf). Then have them come together in the Midnight Suns movie similar to Phase 1. This would both keep audience invested and build new characters that can be the pillars of the new saga.

People saying “the MCU just needs one project to be good” are missing the point. Broadly speaking- Loki S1, Shang-Chi, WV, Ms.Marvel, WF and guardians 3 were well received. But they were sandwiched between Eternals, Thor L/T, Quantumania and Secret Wars.
@Luminousreign Жыл бұрын
Only two of those actually did good(WF and Guardians 3), and only one of those was a critical and commercial succes(G3). Nobody actually watched the disney plus stuff, Shang-Chi was lowkey less succesfull than Spiderman 3 or Multiverse of madness, and only slightly more succesful than Black Widow. The people who think the MCU just needs one good project to turn things around are likely the same people who get their news from Disney adjacent sources who say everything is a critical and financial success regardless of the reality. Pretty much everything you listed is one of the primary examples of the wheels falling off.

If they had the time, they should have switched Jonathan Majors for Key Huy Quan. We already got the idea that the TVA is form not just from Kang but from him as well, his name already points at a never ending cycle, we saw Majors die in Episode 4 and in episode 5 Loki already controls himself a form of time/space travel that affects the entire timeline and his motivations are to save his friends... What if he in the final episode uses his new power to try and return to the moment he met with The One Who Remains in Season 1 but using all their friends temporal aura to teleported with him at that space/time exact moment, and when they reach there, instead of Jonathan Majors we find Key Huy Quan; he then explains that Loki manage to create a new timeline where HE´s Kang and build a more powerfull machine capable of handling more ramifications of the timeline, and that while some versions of him are indeed evil, others are not. So this time Sylvie doesn´t kill him, and while there are still new timeline branches, it´s more controlled and the TVA is there to control the ones that got way out of control. Show could even end with Loki meating The Watcher as he introduce him to the concept of the real multiverse (the one we know exist independant of Loki´s show or the TVA, since we already since other universes and both Spiderman and Doctor Strange gaves two other reasons for mayor timeline breaches). They could even get America Chavez to meet Loki this way in order to make either Young Avengers with Loki as their guide/legal tutor or just call it Loki´s New Avengers. Tom Hiddleston sounds like a more solid fundation for next phases than Doctor Strange or any particular super villain, which we already did with Thanos, we really don´t need yet another go at the same beats.

It would have been so much easier to build up a new avengers style group with either The X men or the fantastic four. They need to build up a new proper core group of Marvel characters that can be the focus of a future avengers movies. The fantastic 4 would be a great choice while Professor Xavier is training a team of Xmen characters. They need that core group to focus and expand upon.

They've always been planning to bring back RDJ for Armor Wars and Secret Wars. The new plan is probably to bring him and the OG Avengers back permanently in the rebooted MCU, post Secret Wars but in a more minor role so they can focus on the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Kang hasn't been working at all. He's a horrible and convoluted character in the comics, thats why he's rarely used and hasn't had any good events or even good comics based on him. Going with the multiverse and shoehorning Kang was the worst decision Feige ever made. In the MCU, Kang has been killed off in every appearance he's made. He's a joke and not a threat, especially when dog sized ants can destroy his suit and he can be killed by Wasp and Sylvie. Kang is over exposed and there's no reason to think that he'd be a danger to Thor or Captain Marvel. Secret Wars has always been about Doom so pivoting to Doom makes sense. They still have 4 to 5 years before Secret Wars, about a year less than they had to build up Thanos so they can definitely build up Doom in that time and salvage the multiverse saga.

I think the other people he killed had a direct connection to his wife being attacked. His boss ordered it, the secretary facilitated it, the brute and Tilda Swinton carried it out, and he mentions in his monologue that the taxi driver was the one that bought death to his door. Meanwhile, the client is just the guy what wanted someone dead. I think that final confrontation was "Did you request all this shit" and he believed the guy when he said "They just said they'd cover my ass for $150k..." Which is why he let him live. This movie is Man on Fire without the pace and if Creasy was not squeaky clean from the outset. It was too long, and a bit boring. But I liked how every time he ran through his mantra of "Expect, don't improvise" it was a guarantee that shit was going to go sideways and he'd be doing nothing but improvising. This is like the fourth video reviewing ‘The Killer’ that I’ve watched and nobody is talking about the ambiguous, Sopranos-like ending? Weird … [SPOILERS AHEAD] I mean, it’s actually not even that ambiguous. You see him back at his luxury house in the Dominican Republic after sparing the billionaire’s life. He gives his girlfriend a drink and lays down on a sun bed next to her, camera focuses on the side of his face, his eye twitches, followed by an immediate cut to black. I mean, he just got murdered, didn’t he? Then as if to hammer the point home, we get a Smiths song playing over the credits with the repeated lyrics “To die by your side, oh, the pleasure, the privilege is mine”. Seems like a fairly crucial plot point to me - he gets his come-uppance because he decided to spare that one guy who obviously then hired someone else to track him down. As for why he decides to spare the billionaire, he does say that you have to be extra careful with rich guys, because the police effort to solve a murder is directly proportional to the wealth of the victim. I also just get the feeling that maybe he just didn’t want any more blood on his hands.

I’m really not concerned. Loki s2 has been incredible, Echo looks very promising, and while the shows and movies have had their issues, many caused by the Pandemic and other things outside their control like Chadwick and Majors) I’ve for the most part still really enjoyed them. Marvel will be just fine and I think we will begin to see more stuff on the level of Loki and WandaVision on the TV side.

I agree. As long as we still get some good movies, I'm still having a good time.

Actually Marvel may or may not be "just fine" and people are already being fired... MOST people thought MOST of phase four was awful and now the beginning of phase five...If Disney stocks keep tanking and they keep losing a couple hundred million or just break even in every movie... they'll either scale the MCU WAY back or slowly just stop making things entirely

Well see but financial concerns may in fact force them to do more quality work for sure especially in the television side

Just saw the marvels last night and besides that the name is derivative of a comic book it was too much action not enough talking about feelings middling
