The 90s were everything. Sadly, by came the 2010s, and that's when things progressively went downhill, rapidly since 2020. I often contemplate if there'll be anything by or after 2030 bc things have become more difficult, depressing, dull, and even dumb!!

@@inoshishi8I disagree, as there were great gems like EWBAITE, White, Ok Human, and Van Weezer. The message I take from Weezer and this song is that 'hey, some may look at my life and think that I'm so uncool, but guess what? I love my life and don't have to pretend or put on act to make myself look cool '. Many kids need to hear that. Weezer Rules 🤘🏿
@idontwantahandlethough3 жыл бұрын
That's not a bad message. But in terms of the intended message, that was actually: "we live in a ridiculous broken economic system that was specifically designed to make sure that upward (class) mobility is near impossible. You're almost definitely never going to be rich, and you never even had a chance" Which is also something I think the kids of the U.S. need to hear. Luckily, they seem to be painfully aware of this already.

It was like yesterday (not 13 years ago), we showed up to a parking structure in Beverly Hills just knowing "Weezer." No one knew anything else. They took us in vans to a private location. Out of about 150, I was fortunate to be one of the first 50 call times, so I got to enjoy the lawn, hang in the grotto and then Hef walked out. Every time I hear this song I think of when I went to an alternative school. All us troublemakers all rode a big van to the schools, the driver had a radio on. This song came on and we all broke into singing along. The one time we all got along. One of my favorite songs!

This is suck a misunderstood song. It really is a blue collar anthem. We want what the rich and famous have and we work and work but never ever will we be like that. Born into poverty like gears in a machine or born into royalty and the operator of the machine. I fucking love this song!

After the solo is my favorite part- "The truth is I don't stand a chance It's something that you're born into And I just don't belong No, I don't I'm just a no-class, beat-down fool And I will always be that way I might as well enjoy my life And watch the stars play"

Where I come from isn't all that great My automobile is a piece of crap My fashion sense is a little whack And my friends are just as screwed as me I didn't go to boarding schools Preppy girls never looked at me Why should they? I ain't nobody Got nothing in my pocket Beverly Hills, that's where I want to be (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme) Livin' in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, rollin' like a celebrity (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme) Livin' in Beverly Hills Look at all those movie stars They're all so beautiful and clean When the housemaids scrub the floors They get the spaces in between I wanna live a life like that I wanna be just like a king Take my picture by the pool Cause I'm the next big thing Beverly Hills, that's where I want to be (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme) Livin' in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, rollin' like a celebrity (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme) Livin' in Beverly Hills The truth is I don't stand a chance It's something that you're born into And I just don't belong No I don't, I'm just a no class, beat down fool And I will always be that way I might as well enjoy my life And watch the stars play Beverly Hills, that's where I want to be (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme) Livin' in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, rollin' like a celebrity (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme) Livin' in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills Beverly Hills Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, livin' in Beverly Hills

The track is a lighthearted yet earnest reflection on the contrast between the glamor of Beverly Hills and the singer's own more humble origins. The singer expresses a yearning to escape his current situation and live the high life of the wealthy and famous in Beverly Hills, whilst at the same time recognizing that it's more of a dream than a realistic goal. The chorus contains repeated refrains of the singer's desire to 'roll like a celebrity' and to 'live in Beverly Hills', and the bridge expresses a sense of wry resignation to the fact he will never fit in with that lifestyle. Ultimately, the song conveys the idea that although life in Beverly Hills might look glamorous from a distance, happiness and fulfillment can be found regardless of one's financial or social status.

I grew up with this song, I know its hated by the fan base but when it first came out I was 5 and me and my sister were obsessed with this song and a few other known ones from the same time, credit to my older siblings for showing us them, and I kind of forgot about it until someone played it the other day and I knew all the words haha, time flies.
