You guys are the best!! I'm vegan now, but would like to become more wfpb like you both. I'm not a very good cook, but I'm learning 😊 Something I learned about myself while doing various diets is that I really like the "eat as much as you want of these certain foods" diets versus the "weigh out a small portion of any food" diets. I did Whole 30 and learned that I feel TONS better without dairy! And I did IIFYM and learned that I have pretty good willpower, but I don't like weighing my food 😂

Since starting to eat WFPBNO last october, (I have always been vegetarian, but vegan for the past 10 years) I have lost 86 pounds and I am now at my ideal weight and size. I wont ever change this lifestyle as the amount of different delicious food is amazing and I am loving every minute. I have had really, really bad health issues and hopefully this way of eating will help me to improve at least some of it. Love you both, it's been great seeing your weight loss journey 💖

You guys rock, I love your videos. I was always a very thin person & was constantly teased about it growing up. Eventually, things changed & I suddenly found myself at 205 lbs. I understand that for most people that’s not even heavy but I was around 100lbs when I graduated high school so for me I had literally doubled in size in around 10 years time. Over the years I had tried (& failed) to lose weight with various methods. Recently, I decided to try again & I cut out both carbs & sugar & I simplified what I ate. I have now lost around 60lbs & I feel amazing. I always felt like I was trapped inside a foreign body when I was heavy & now I feel like myself again & I can hardly believe that it’s me I’m seeing in the mirror. I understand that my struggles and my accomplishments are small in comparison to what you guys have managed to achieve but for me, losing those 60lbs was a really big deal. I love watching your videos & seeing your transformation & I hope that your videos are helping other people who have had the same struggles. Keep making videos & stay positive, it’s so nice to see normal people doing normal things. I identify with that, I’m not a fitness model, I wasn’t blessed with perfect genes. I enjoy seeing real people like me, being successful in their lives & it helps me to keep going.

My wife, and I have been Whole foods plant based vegan for almost 26 years now. it has been a great lifestyle. Would never consider going back to animal based foods, or any other diet. As we are in our 60's now we are really seeing how this diet has benefited our health. We just don't have the health problems that our meat eating friends have. Congratulations on your success. Love your Channel.

Been on more diets than there are books over 60 years, but 80% RAW Whole-Plant Based only is the only one I have maintained for two years and going strong. From 534 pounds to 240 today and now off of 11 of 12 medications. One add -- hydration, hydration, hydration. Seldom mentioned in diet books, it changed everything for me. Cooked foods (such as Krock's Chile) is my "dessert" and protein treat. And one other thing -- for me scraping together the cash to buy a Vitamix has been my smartest buy. It is a MUST for Raw food eaters especially -- juices, smoothies, soups, sauces (i.e. hummus), and Nice cream. I use my Vitamix every single day... sometimes for all three meals! What I have saved in food costs has easily paid for the Vitamix now.

Also reversed high cholesterol and feel great! I tried every diet out there before but couldn't stick with it in the long run. This is a lifestyle and so delicious. Thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed this video. It's good to share how you came to this lifestyle. I for one wish I had found it much earlier in my life. I tried all the diets out there. Only once getting close to normal weight that was 40 years ago. I'm 64 year old grandmother. I wanted to live longer. My mother died at 62 with complications from diabetes. I lost 2 sisters one 57 and 59. I was diabetic and going down the same path. It's in the genes right. I saw Dr Furman on pbs. Then I started researching WFPB. Set my mind to it and started. It's been a year and a half. I love the food and the fact I don't have to go hungry. I have lost almost 70 lbs. I am no longer diabetic, no IBS no high blood pressure, no fibromyalgia. Plus other health issues I had my whole life have gone away. I am so thankful for people like you who are willing to share. The recipes I have found are so yummy I will never go back. I love the healthy way I feel. Everyone always guesses I am 10 years younger than I am. I'm going to watch all 9 of my grandchildren grow up. Loving life.

I've been overweight almost since I can remember, though I'd consider it an incredible success to get down to my high school graduation weight (about 25 pounds to go). I was a long-term Weight Watchers followers, even though the first time I tried it I was really concerned about having to share my weight loss in front of a group. Turns out that you only have to share as much or as little as you want, but over time I found it harder and harder to stick to the program for any length of time, even though it has changed and is quite supportive of a WFPB way of eating. I also did Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, Richard Simmons Deal-a-Meal, Walk Off the Pounds, calorie counting, juice fasting (which was my most successful weight loss attempt, until I got pregnant), the Rotation diet, Slim-Fast, and probably a few others I've forgotten about. Honestly, I am so happy for you both, Jessica and Brian, for discovering so young what I wish I'd known 20 or 30 years ago. Nutritarian/starch-based/whole-foods, plant-based eating offers the most versatile and filling way of eating and feeling great while doing it that melts the weight off. It's not a fad diet--it's a sustainable lifestyle change that improves the health of the individual as well as the planet.

I am now eleven pounds into losing it all again, slowly ( about a pound a week) WFPB. If I was as strict as youse guys, I'd no doubt lose faster, but I'm getting better at this week by week. I strictly limit alcohol, avoid processed sugar, and eagerly follow your videos. What I love about WFPB is beautiful beautiful (healthy!) carbs. Potato plus salad is my favorite dinner, with Brian's beans and riced vegetables, a recent close second! Thanks for making my WFPB journey so much more fun.

I actually started the plant based diet due to fear, as two family members had cancer, so I stumbled upon the info for health reasons. I did have about 10 lbs. of residual baby weight to lose, and that was actually surprising that I was able to lose it in an easier way than any other purposeful diet I ever tried. I tried caloric restriction in high school and became borderline anorexic because I was raised in the 80s and didn't know about nutrition. I love eating this way and the energy it is giving me in my 40s. Now how to get my family (hubby and kids) to jump on board is my biggest challenge, as well as how to avoid the occasional cheese and ranch cravings! You are so inspiring and give me so many ideas, as I know NO ONE who is doing this way of eating and I feel all alone. Thank you for your virtual support!!!

I did atkins, lost a bit and got bored. stopped, maintained. Did WFPB, lost another chunk of weight and maintained, gradually added back processed items "but its vegan!" and gradually boredom hit in (plus my husband couldn't do plant based due to health reasons). No further loss, or gain. Joined WW (weight watchers), I eat mostly plants with some eggs and poultry (no dairy, some plant fats). Meetings were weird at first, gradually learned new tools and started daily exercise. Lost/maintained about 50 pounds. I think it has to be what works for YOU and a balance between food and activity. Mindset is super important, that piece is missing in do it yourself type "dieting". We learn something new about ourselves along the journey.

Oh gosh, where to start? I have a 40 plus year history of dieting. I started my current journey at 308 lbs and now average 130 lbs. I have been maintaining now for almost 4 years. Last week I fell into all my old bad habits and gained 9 lbs in 6 days. I am obviously not cured, but, I am recovering from a dreadful relationship with sugar in the main. In the UK we have Slimming World which I think has saved my life. I go to group once a week. I weigh once a week. I eat a healthy balanced diet which is low in sugar and I avoid artificial sweeteners like the plague. I vlog my weight loss journey too which helps keep me accountable and motivated. I am truly enjoying your channel. So glad I found you. Much love Jane x

A lot of my recipes are printed out and placed in page protectors (like your Rocco book). When I cook, I can tape the recipe (or recipes) to the cabinet above. That way they are protected & out of the way. I've also gone back over some of my books from "before" and attempted to veganize, or make as healthy as I can, some of those that I have liked in the past.

I've tried all kinds of stuff and lost weight on none of it. Last year, I tried following the keto diet but didn't pay close attention to the macros and ended up with a long battle with uric acid kidney stones and chronic inflammation after eating too much animal protein. Not really the result I was going for. On another topic: One of my musical regrets in life is missing that tour. Joshua Tree is such a great album, though my favorite ones are War and The Unforgettable Fire.

Calorie wise, vegetables, rice, beans and fruit can still tip over a low calorie "diet." Put bread in there, and it's not hard to eat 600 calories in a meal. I have a theory, though, because I have done "low fat" in the past and was not impressed with any real weight loss. What the difference is, and some will say I'm wrong, is that this program is full of raw foods. Low fat programs don't necessarily emphasize the raw foods, and it's easy to just eat a lot of bread, low fat meats, cooked vegs, etc. That's what I did, because I didn't like low fat commercial dressings for salads. So after reading that there are 1100 kinds of enzymes in our bodies that do different things, it made me wonder if a lot of raw foods increases enzymes, which help break down fat, among many other things. Enzymes in food give us many more kinds, and not just the 5 or 6 you get in a pill. Probiotics in the digestive system acts as an "enzyme factory" one article said. So live cultures in yogurt and other fermented foods is good for us. So, I think the emphasis should be on the raw part, and not so much on the calorie part, because with all the added enzymes, I'm thinking the whole body just burns fat better, eliminates better, and cleanses itself better, preventing fat storage. Just a theory I have.

Thanks again for a great video, Brian and Jessica! I rarely followed fad diets in the past, but I did go vegetarian for many years. I lost some weight, but since I continued using dairy and fat, it was never long term weight loss. A couple of years ago, I tried the Keto diet, but just couldn't stomach all the meat and fat that was required on the diet. I also think I did some long term damage to my liver and kidneys from consuming so much fat and animal protein. I am now doing the WFPB SOS diet and although I haven't lost any weight yet, at least I am feeling healthier eating this way. I think my body is filling out again. Let me explain. My last weight loss was around 45 lbs, but I lost it because I was eating whatever I wanted and not keeping a check on my blood sugar (I am diabetic) and I wasn't taking any diabetes pills or insulin. So my blood sugar soared into the 500s and as a result, I was losing weight, but it was mostly muscles, not actual fat. I became very weak, especially in my legs and upper body. Now I am filling back out and gaining actual muscle mass again. So I figure once my body has gotten strong again, the weight will start to come off. Good news is that while my body is filling back out, I am not gaining any weight at all.
@Larry301025 жыл бұрын

I think that WFPB puts the person eating the diet in control is you know what foods you can eat so it makes meal planning easier. I think if one learns about 10 meals you can enjoy which are plant-based, and then easy instant meals you can just nuke up like leftover soup, it is very easy to stay on and it helps being able to be full and not hungry. And finding a few restaurants which serve meals you can eat helps too.

It started when I stopped smoking at the age of 28... afterwards, my weight went up to places I was really uncomfortable with (about 150 lb for 5,4' when normal was 120 lb). The first real diet I tried was calorie counting... it worked to lose all the weight in about 6 months but I gained it all back + more in about 3 months. Then I picked up a book at the store called "Creative visualization" by Shakti Gawain. So I just started to visualize how I wanted to be without any "plan" to reach it. So after about 3 weeks of this, I picked up a funny, plain orange book in my boyfriend's library. He was much older than me and had a good collection of health books from the 70's. This book was just named "Fasting" by Herbert Shelton. I don't think I had ever read a book that fascinated me as much. I thought "Cool, but the book is old, anything newer with this information?" I looked up on the net and only found Joel Fuhrman who had a recent book on fasting. So I ordered it as well as "Eat to Live" as a combination suggestion from Amazon. Joel Fuhrman, ah ah, had been a disciple of Shelton in his young days, so I found out when I started to read his book on fasting. He had healed a really bad foot injury at Shelton's fasting clinic (he was a competing figure skater). Anyway, Fuhrman opened up my eyes on the food industry and its relation to illnesses, and I just went fully vegan. After cleaning up my diet, I did an 11 day water fast, and the post-results, keeping up a clean diet coupled with working out to Billy Blanks, was just impressive. I had the body of a model during my thirties. I'm in my early 50's and I've always remained on the vegan, whole food diet except that life's struggles in my recent years has led me to indulge too much (bread, starches, olive oil). But I'm back on being really clean now and I don't want it any other way. Like you guys, just indulging a bit on special occasions when it's really hard not to, because of family, birthdays, holidays, etc. You are nice, down to earth people, I enjoy your blog. Good job! Sry for the long comment.

I so identify with you about the silly cheat meal turning into a cheat day turning into a cheat LIFE. ugh! I have spent the last 5 years (I wasn't overweight until about five years ago) going round and round that mountain. This wfpb omad plus walking and exercise has been helping me build that are healthy for me inside and out instead of focusing on the scale. I'm about a month and a half in. I actually had to make myself a visual--beans in jars that I can physically put my bean in the jar when I follow these two habits (what/when I eat and exercise) that I am trying to get into my life. Dave Ramsey said that if you can conquer one thing like healthy habits then you can conquer another like finances, so since my husband and I are hard-core budget ninjas, then I have the faith and believe that I can get my health habits on a great track for life! Thank you for what you do and for making this channel! I have really enjoyed your style and positive outlooks and appreciate your openness about the sometimes maddening process of effectively managing our health! High five to both of you!! :)

I have been 20 - 30 lbs overweight many times since I was 12. I'm 64 now. I've done both versions of Atkins- the original version was low fat high meat in the 1970s. I lost the 20 extra lbs for a few years then met some vegetarians in college years and became vegetarian but ate lots of dairy- this was after the Freshman 15! I developed hypoglycemia so struggled with that for years! I found that eating animal protein mitigated the symptoms but it never went away. I eventually did Atkins again in the late 80s, I think. By then it was eat all the fat you want in your animal based proteins. It took months to lose even 1 lbs but eventually I lost all the excess weight. But... I also eventually gained it back! There's more but suffice it to say, I prefer WFPB food . I am not losing weight yet but hope to . In any case, the lifestyle is sustainable and the only time I've had hypoglycemic issues is when I've had processed junk food. So, my bad! I prefer not eating animals. My husband is on board with it too. Yay! I so appreciate the Krocks with a K!

Most people need something sustainable to get away from the terrible "diet" mindset. I eat a diet--I am not on a diet. I feel like you can be successful once you find something you can do forever--not until you reach a goal. Keep up the good work. I just came across your channel and you guys are very entertaining!! I'd like to know more about your exercise regime??

Thanks for sharing, as always :) I also don't regret what I've tried. The most I ever lost at one time was about 20 pounds over 6 months on WW but then I gained it back plus plenty of extra. I'm just starting a dedicated WFPB plan as of the first of the month, but I do know so much of getting healthy is mindset. Changing how you look at things is what makes change possible!

I, too, have tried many, many diets and would lose a little and then gain a lot. I have been vegan for almost 3 years, but haven’t lost any weight. I am having so much trouble staying away from processed and junk stuff. I keep trying to lose weight, but it’s discouraging. I am so proud of you guys and other you tubers that I watch, but I feel as if i am the only one not losing weight. 😞

Ohhh I’ve done the yo-yo dieting for about 15 years. I recently switched my eating habits from being a meat eater to eating more healthier foods and I cut out meat and dairy. I weighed 173 a few months ago and I’m down to 153-154 and still losing. I hit plateaus, but it doesn’t bother me anymore because I feel better than I’ve ever felt probably in my entire life. I don’t really have a goal weight I just don’t ever want to be heavy and unhealthy again and 173 hasn’t been my highest that’s just where I was when I made a change. Also I cut out sweets completely and no more diet root beer. I have no desire to eat healthier sweets either which I think that’s a great thing to do if you can do it. I don’t consider myself being on a diet or lifestyle either I just eat better. Good luck to anyone trying to lose weight or just wanting to eat healthier. It’s hard at first, but it’s so worth it in the end:)💜

This was a great discussion. Consistency is the key. Chef AJ on Instagram just posted about this. Find what works and be consistent. However, you two are doing so much more than just making videos, you are living a lifestyle that is nutritionally sound, better for the environment and better for the animals. People see the success and transition over with confidence. Love your commitment and humility! ❤️

1) I joined a gym, took the classes, went religiously every day, and GAINED weight. Then I read that exercise doesn’t make you lose weight. It’s more for toning and health. For weight loss it really comes down to food. So I stopped the gym. 2) I tried vegetarianism but that wasn’t sustainable for me because I just didn’t feel satiated. I was always hungry. And I didn’t lose weight with it either probably because I just couldn’t feel satiated. And I could only eat so many vegetables. It was a dissatisfying feeling so I quit that. 3) I looked at keto diet and realized how restrictive it is and knew it wasn’t for me so I didn’t try it . That is one diet I could not do long term. 4) I tried the OMAD diet and surprisingly it was pretty easy ( it didn’t sound easy but knowing I could eat anything in my one meal made it doable. There are no restrictions.). However, I found my energy level lagged. I could have done this the rest of my life IF I could just chill on the couch and watch tv all day, but i had things to do so I needed more energy so I stopped that. But i did lose weight doing it eating as much and anything I wanted. It was kind of a pleasurable diet except for the low energy. 5) Now i am not dieting but I have cut obvious sugars out of my diet ( cake, cookies, ice cream, chocolate and sugar in my tea). The other “hidden “ sugars I don’t worry about. I did this for health not diet but my waist size has noticeably shrunk while my weight has maintained the same. This makes me wonder what sugar was doing in my stomach. Cutting out sugar also saves me money considering i had quite a sweet tooth. I just don’t buy the sweets anymore. I still crave sugar sometimes but i am on my 2nd month of eliminating sugar and when I crave sugar I eat some fruit or have a green drink and that satisfies me. I am going to try to stick with this for health. I also try to avoid processed foods, and I minimize fried foods to only a few times a year and that is also for health not weight. I am over weight but not obese so with my stomach shrinking I am okay with my weight. I just didn’t like having a big stomach and have been pleasantly surprised by cutting sugar my stomach is shrinking.

Adopting a whole foods plant-based lifestyle transformed my health. I have a very complex, challenging and painful medical condition, and adopting this lifestyle took me from walking with canes and riding carts in the store to losing 50+ pounds, and hiking for miles. By the way, I encourage you to resist the negative self-talk - you are not losers, you are both delightfully likable and relatable. 😊

OH, and why is Superstitious via Dr. Stevie Wonder so good to walk to? According to the internets, the 'average walking speed' is 94-105 steps/minute... the BPM of superstitious? 101 BPM... Hence, it's fantastical walking pace!

I have been overweight since puberty. I have done WW twice, a month or two of Jenny Craig (my neighbor was a coach there, so I tried it out. It worked, but I felt that it didnt teach me HOW to eat). Various calorie counting, many times in my life. In 2016 we went vegetarian, and then finally I got pregnant. During pregnancy I had a lot of food aversions. After having baby I found myself back on the same bad diet the last 2.5 years. My thing is that i am a stress eater- especially now that i have given up soda. more recently, i found your videos and ordered a copy of Eat to Live. While I read it, my husband and I tried the potato thing... but I had a very bad reaction day 3 so we went right into WFPB. I am excited about this one, and I really think it's sustainable. :) I love all your vids!
@KrocksInTheKitchen5 жыл бұрын
You are correct. Most of these diets don't explain how to live a lifestyle of healthy eating. They focus just on how to get people to lose weight and that's all. Sorry to hear about your husband having a bad reaction. Just stick to what works for you. I love the fact that I can eat so much food. I never feel like I am depriving myself. 😀 -Brian

While I have never been too overweight, I have tried so many of them, including the ones you guys tried. Since the big M, my weight is much harder to maintain, and also it is harder to be as active as I used to be. Brian, walking used to be my magic wand too. I would walk anywhere from 4 to 6 miles a day, and my weight was always stable. But I do keep coming back to thinking WFPB is the way to go.

I've tried everything under the sun. I've done Cambridge, Pineapple, Atkins, Paleo, Keto, but the best I have ever felt was doing a Raw Vegetarian diet. I am trying to recapture that feeling with a Plant-based diet. I started going Vegan a month ago and it was easy this time. And now I find myself not wanting to eat anything with a face. So there is that piece now.

WFPB is surely the healthiest, and for me the easiest weight loss ever. Because it is just living... Not counting calories, carbs protein, fat grams or anything else. Just eating the whole foods in all their delicious variety. It's such a relief not to have to worry about it all. It's a great feeling to know you're eating to create more health and energy and it's better for the planet, by far. Thanks for your sharing.

You guys have been showing up in my recommendations for a while, and I recently have binged a few of your videos, and you are both so great. My husband and I got married in 2011 too - 7-9-11 - but we are a little older than you and we've been together for 15 years. If we were in the same city I feel like we could be friends:) My husband is a BIG U2 fan, and we are both avid concert goers. I too have been over weight since childhood. I was an athlete in high school, and a big partier in college, and I didn't start to get really big until I met my husband and got a desk job. I was so active, that I could pretty much eat what I wanted, and stay in the size 10/12 range. Most of the time I have lost weight by not eating, and years ago I gave up on this and just slowly gained and gained until I got to my current size 20! We have a two year old, and after she was born things got really bad. I've always been a pretty healthy eater, and a bit of a foodie, so my diet wasn't too bad, just too much. After baby we started eating a lot of processed convenience food and I just felt so horrible. So I started to do some research and this led me down a KZbin hole of Vegan videos. For the past year we have been eating about 80% whole food plant based, and we always eat pescatarian. I have slowly been losing weight, lots more to go, but I feel better than I have felt in a while. My husband is not really over weight, but he is down to the lowest weight he's ever been. I feel like if we continue to eat this way, and continue to limit the processed food (and dairy for me) I will slowly loose weight and be able to keep it off. You are both and inspiration - thank you for sharing your story.

I've been plant based since 2011 and I can't eat like all the plant based doctors say we can eat, you know, "Eat as much as you want..."! Uh....not working. I just recently found a podcast that has done wonders for my thinking. It's called "Weight Loss Made Real by Cookie Rosenblum. She doesn't recommend any type of diet, it just deals with the mental aspects of losing weight. I feel like she's been living in my head for the last 20 years. All the things I've thought and went through are normal. I'm not a weirdo, weak, undisciplined, etc. I've just never learned these things. I can't recommend it enough. I'm excited about this plant based journey with Cookie at my side!

First of all, you two are an amazing inspiration to me! I love love LOVE your 'stuff'!! ALL of it! I look forward to that Black Bean soup recipe you're going to remake! Your chili is my favorite so far! Thank you for that recipe! As for what weight gimmicks I have tried in the past? Weight Watchers about 4 times. Nutrisystems at least 3 times. Then there have been the carb counting ones. The calorie counting gigs. The lastest was Optivia (a branch off of Medifast). It was touted to be so so healthy but it is not! You got 5 'fuelings' that you have to buy from them plus one lean and green meal a day! The 'meal' consisted of only 1 1/2 cup of veggies, mostly green of sorts and then a lean protein. But for me, who was raised a vegetarian, I HATE meat, poultry, seafood of any kind! So all I had was cheeses, eggs, and the store bought very tasteless Boca Burgers! I got so sick of that little tiny meal somewhere in the day I couldn't stand it. I did get think and I felt good being thin but I didn't feel good health wise. I now know why! I am VERY sensitive to any and all dairy products! Wow! Anyway, the Optavia 'healthy eating lifestyle' cost me around $450.00-600.00 a month! AWFUL! So now finding this WFPB lifestyle has been a god send to me. Now if I can just get on track and STAY on track! It's been hard due to the fact that I am the only one eating this way in my house! I am determined to make this happen as my health depends on it! Thank you for all you two do for all of us out here! I look forward to any and all youtube videos you put out there for us! Keep it up and thanks for all the inspiration!! Now I am looking forward to that Black Bean Soup!! :)

I have a similar story with diets, not because I was overweight, but because of some kind of chronic illness for years that the doctors never could figure out. I've also landed on a similar diet to yours, excecpt mine is more fruits. I found the Medical Medium and his protocols for different illnesses and it was a revolution, now I can't go back to any of that other food I ate because this is the only thing that has actually worked for me. I also picked up some of his ideas on weight gain/loss, and he says that a lot of weight gain is caused by the liver not being able to cleanse, because of all the toxins that we consume and the high fat intake burdening it. Also dairy and eggs feed pathogens that produce toxins that burdens it even more. Which leads to the body starting to store toxins in fat in the body. Which means that if you exclude anything toxic (high processed with a million chemicals in it) and cut down on the fat, excluding eggs and dairy and reduce meat significantly (meat is really very high in fat according to him), you will lose weight over time, and the amount of calories are less important. Well, that was a long explanation, it's just my take on why your diet works after being saturated in MM's material for 3 years...lol I think your channel is awesome, having a good time listening to you while I cook :) Oh, btw on the MM webside there are a lot of low fat recipes that might suit you. For instance Nachos Potatoes is a winner!
