To get the most out of this program and to see results, please follow the schedule of the 7 days. There are hard workout days mixed with easy ones to allow your body time to adjust to the workout. Work within your abilities and take an extra rest day if you really need it. I look forward to hearing from you as you work through the program! Also, as a heads up, day 4 is a REST day (yes, you are supposed to take the day off to allow your muscles to re-cooperate). Enjoy the day off and see you back for day 5!

Thank you for creating great content. I am going through a difficult life transition and getting back to a freer place to focus on my own needs for the first time in many years. I shed some tears during my workout today listening to the song about getting back up when I fall. I just found your website a few months ago. It started with Abba, then the 60's, then the 50's. I really enjoy how you mix up the videos. Looking through your playlist I found this series. I'm only on Day 3/Week 1, but I really love how you work all the muscle groups. My doctor said it would really benefit me if I did some strength training (due to osteoperosis). I'm hoping that I will improve my bone density as well as my overall fitess. Love the wall visuals, your spirit, and your expertise. Thanks!! This old lady (74) is moving again. (And the 50's video really brought me back!!)

I don't have strength exercises in this series but I did add them in later series. I have a short, very effective strength workout which you could add onto your workout 2-3 times a week. It'll add on 10 minutes of strength and 5 minutes of stretching which hopefully will be doable for you. Just skip the warm-up in the strength video since you'll already be good and warmed up from the 'series' workout. The link is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6K7kqicdpuSmbc

@ImprovedHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thava, I understand the confusion. I wear a Fitbit and input the final number of steps into the step counter when creating the video. The final step count is definitely correct but it averages the steps throughout the video and divides the steps up. So, it's not always accurate DURING the workout but the final number is correct. It's just the way the computer program works.

I'm asking because I've done some from each of the series. Loved the music in this one, both the pace and the words.
@ImprovedHealth2 жыл бұрын
I would definitely recommend to start with the first series. With every series, I made the exercises a little bit more challenging, especially on the interval training days and the long workouts on day 5. Ideally, do each series for 4 weeks before moving to the next series (unless you're really bored of them!). You can also change up day 2 and 7 with other cardio workouts if you want a change (just pick any 20-30 minute cardio workout on those 2 days if you want a change).

@@ImprovedHealth I clearly have a lot of catching up to do. ☺️ It's so funny to me because I rarely stretched until I came upon your channel and in less than a month I have become a creature of habit. Now I stretch everyday with you and it makes such an enormous difference. So thank you. 💖 Your channel is more than fitness... it's learning... from cardio to recovery... and everything in between. I didn't realize how important walking backwards was for balance until I did your session this morning. You are incredible fitness content creator 🏃♀️💪🏋️♂️🧘♀️I am learning so much from you.

@@malamaurer4043 I'm so glad to read that you stick around for the stretching at the end of each workout and notice/feel the difference. Occasionally I don't stretch after I rush in from biking and I often end up pulling something due to not stretching it out. Thanks so much for your super kind comment, Mala ('incredible fitness content creator'). 💖💖💖💖💖💖

@@ImprovedHealth Well Jules you are a super amazing content creator. It's one thing to "go through the motions" and it's just a whole different animal to know why it's important to go through those motions. Like, I never understood what it meant to "change the intensity of your workout" until I worked with you. I think I started with you less than a month ago and I am already seeing an enormous difference in my recovery time and really in my overall flexibility and more importantly, just general well being. (BTW I have memorized the playlist completely so I am totally covered in case it gets pulled from me again 😏) You taught me how to put in 30 second challenges in for myself and increase level of fitness and I am finally starting to feel good again. And I am so grateful that none of it has nothing to do with counting calories or playing step aerobics with the bathroom scale. I am so happy I found you 🤗

@@malamaurer4043 Thank you SO much for your awesome feedback, Mala. I really appreciate it. I'm so glad you are seeing progress already and focusing more on health and wellness rather than what's on the scale. 💗

I luv your workout . I couldn’t find Day 4 in Walk the Weight Off play list , not sure if it’s my miss or Day 4 is actually not posted .
@ImprovedHealth3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Vera. In this series there is no day 4. It is designed to be a rest day:). But, if you really want to work out, you can do a 20 minute workout.

I'm in week day 3. Today was the 1st time I went all the way to the end of the workout (more time available today). Could day 2 be use for da 4? I've been working out 5 days and taking 2 days off (weekends), I also do your 25 day strength training which I love!

You can mix up the workouts if you'd like and choose your favourites. The main thing is to have a workout between day 1 and 3 (rather than in a row). I would suggest choosing the longer workout day for one of your workouts in the week (and skip one of the 20 min ones).

I enjoyed the workout and music. I've always heard that throwing in faster speed for greater calorie burn is a GOOD thing, but there is another online exercise instructor that keeps emphasizing that women over 50 need to slow down and do gentle to moderate workouts, that a faster pace will "stress" the body and release cortisol... What are your thoughts?
@ImprovedHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I have been swamped with work lately and trying to get out the next 7 day program. Let me do the proper research so I can give you correct information. I don't want to rush this response.

Hi Kim, I finally had a chance to research your question. I read from various sources and everyone talks about not stressing your body over a certain age with long, intense workouts (for example, 1 hour workouts where you are constantly stressing the body or training for a marathon, etc.). The various resources talked about the benefits of interval training for women over 50. Yes, we work hard on days 1 & 3 but the workouts and intervals are the perfect length for targeting fat and helping your cortisol levels. The intervals are actually recommended. The program I put out balances hard workouts with easier ones so you're never over-stressing the body. Also, if all you do is easy to moderate exercise (for example, just going for a gentle walk), you'll never get the results you likely are looking for. Yes, your heart will be healthier but if you're looking to lose weight or improve your fitness, you need to challenge the body. I hope that helps to answer your question. Strength training is also SUPER important, especially as we reach 50 and above. I'll be including more strength training in my workouts soon.

@@ImprovedHealth Thank you, Julie. I know that strength training is important to maintain our metabolism and I do it on a regular basis. I enjoy your bursts of speed and I figured it must be good for us or you wouldn't do it. And I've always read that women over 50 have to work harder to burn calories. I just find it curious that a different exercise lady goes against everyone else and keeps telling us to do gentle to moderate workouts. I like YOU better. Thanks again for all you do.

Hi Jules, I love this workout, it is the best on youtube. I have done days 1 - 5 but cannot find days 6 and 7 on youtube, although I have subscribed to your site. Although after 7 days do I just repeat 1-7 for 4 weeks? Thanks for your help

Hi Edda, if you click on my logo where it says 'Improved Health', you'll then see a spot where it says 'playlists'. Click there and then go to 'Walk the Weight off'. All of the videos are located there. Let me know if you can't find them. And yes, please do the program for 4 weeks to allow your body to adjust to the changes:)

You just keeping working out regardless is my advice but we're all different. You really have to listen to your body but personally it doesn't affect my workouts.

Hi! For the first series I planned for day 4 to be a rest day. But, if you don’t feel that you need a day off, you can pick any 20-30 minute cardio workout (just not an interval workout).
