I remember going to see him at the Fox theater in Atlanta some years ago and he started the show with this song. They had a camera on him backstage and he was performing to it, walking through the halls until, towards the end, he burst out into the crowd from behind and performed down the aisle up onto the stage. It blew my mind!
@LrdSlvrhnd

I saw him at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH, and he did this to start... but he actually started of outside and walked past the Dumpsters. Sadly, he came out on stage rather than in the audience, but that was still hilariously appropriate. Mad props to the camera operator who had to come in and *immediately* turn a corner and smoothly navigate stairs while walking backwards!

I have to admit I'm astonished that nobody's performance is the same from take to take. They all clearly decided "I will go to these places and I will use these moves," but did them improvisationally as they performed. I guess if it was me I'd have to have a more definite plan in my head what I'd do, so one take to another would be much the same. I think this shows both that a certain type of performer gravitates toward Al, and that they're all exceptionally talented people.

I'm thoroughly impressed by how consistent Jack Black was in all four takes. Most of his motions were so similar and well timed that they lined up really well.

The shove into frame at 0:24 synergizes so well, it's like the left half of the video flows into the right half.

A truly impressive video to have been shot in one take. The amount of time spent planning the blocking must have taken a long time. Also cool to see Maude Lebowski's apartment in it's natural state. Hilarious to see the cameraman trying to get out of the shot outside the door at the end of Jack's bit on the upper right take.

@@VeritasUnae No Doubt. If this video were made today, it probably would have been stitched together digitally from several takes, because we can now do that. In the world of soulless, Autotuned, quantized music, Photoshop'd to perfection images and digital prosthetics it's nice to see the human element.

Oh my Lord I love this so much!! This is one of my all time fav videos. At first I was, What the hell am I seeing.. I thought it was the Same video in a Collage type presentation. But why is everything out of sync? Then the light bulb! Wow. This is so cool. Watching on repeat to catch all the nuances of each take. I love the pants Aisha? has on. And Al's hair.. I want hair like that.

Thanks for this. As an aspiring creative I really appreciate this as a remind of 1) Archive everything, you never know when you'll need it. and 2) Do multiple takes even if the first one is 'good enough. I'm realy lazy about doing multiple takes, and seeing you have 4 quality takes for this song challenges me to stop settling for the first acceptable one.
