4:18 - So that's Corey Feldman. He was big in the 80s and 90s. 4:31 - Key Hue Kwan. His acting career started with Short Round in Temple of Doom, then this movie, then Hollywood all but dropped him for 30 years until his Oscar-winning performance in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once last year. (The story of his reunion with Harrison Ford is the most wholesome and heartwarming thing you've ever heard) 5:01 - Here's Samwise Gamgee... 5:11 - ...and his big brother, Thanos. 38:00 - So for the majority of filming, the children were absolutely forbidden from entering the pirate ship soundstage. It was only when the time came to shoot the scene that they were let in. What you see here is the children's ACTUAL first-time reactions to seeing the ship. This is also the moment of one of the most infamous deleted scenes in movie history. There was a scene here where the kids have to fight a giant octopus, but it was left on the cutting room floor. It's an infamous scene because although it was cut out, the scene is still referenced at the end of the movie. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpm7nqSmet2YkLc 46:02 - Willie only set the ship so that it would crash into the cavern wall if someone took his share of the gold. The cavern only opened up because the stick of dynamite destabilized the previous cave-in and reopened the cavern to the sea.
@MandalorianRevan Жыл бұрын
That was actually their second impression. The first impression couldn't be used because they all started cursing the second they saw the ship.

Fun fact: While the name "Willie" has been a euphemism for male genitalia since the early 1900s, people only started using the term "one-eyed willy" after this movie came out. So the pirate's name wasn't meant to be a dick joke, but people made it into one because of this film.

I kept waiting for you to comment about Brand being Thanos. But what really makes rewatching this movie great is Ke Huy Quan, who played Data. After his success as Short Round in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, Data in The Goonies, and then a few minor roles he left acting for twenty years. But his return to acting earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor this year for the movie "Everything Everywhere, All at Once." You should react to that movie (but be prepared to be confused until the end).

At the end of the movie you'll hear one of the kids mention they had a run in with an octopus making it seem like they were making stuff up about their adventure. But originally after they splash into the water near the pirate ship, they get attacked by a giant octopus. this can be seen in the deleted footage. they also used a very blue dye in the water. the kids were coughing up blue goo for days because of it. the reaction the kids have when they see the pirate ship for the first time is real. the director and steven spielberg wanted a true reaction. Supposedly only Corey Feldman (Mouth) had seen it the day before. he and a friend of his were sneaking into the sets and ended up going into the sound stage the ship was in. There was also a small subplot involving monkeys during the scene where the Goonies mess with the water pipes, this caused some problems at the zoo. some monkeys escaped and end up getting chased around town by the cops. at one point they even drive a police car. this footage is also available within the deleted footage. There was some weird stuff going on with this movie and penises. One Eyed Willie obviously, but also that statue. There are other things as well but I won't even mention those.
