Eh, even as somebody who thinks it's always been a better ship (and DEFINITELY a better ship since season 3) I don't think it's the direction they're going, nor do I think it's worth forcing in at the last moment. Besides, it's a good ship because they're good friends. Top tier besties is still endgame. All I'm saying is... Any ending where they're traveling the world together as an ass-kicking duo, Ruby being the hero of her dreams and Weiss being free to explore the world with a friend that lives her is like, clearly the best ending for both of them no matter what.

Disclaimer: This criticism is directed towards the writers, not the characters. I'm honestly shocked and frustrated that neither one of them has even said "I love you" to the other or even talked about them becoming girlfriends. We see them caring and looking out for each other but they never actually talk about them being a couple. Especially considering they introduced a married lesbian couple only a couple volumes prior.

Well, we can always say that they had a LOT on their plates, and didn't really have time or mental energy to properly establish their relationship (and even when they finally have their relationship upgrade in volume 9, it still causes issues since it makes it all the easier for them to ignore Ruby's IMMENSE struggles).
