Hair can be a pain. I think the most effective way to drawing hair is NOT to draw all the hair. Just a suggestion of hair is usually enough.

Excellent as always. I learned a lot again. I really like the way you explain and show things, you dont fancy things, and unlike most tutors online, you can actually speak what you want to say while drawing, and not just mumble meantime, and forget what you wanted to say. I kind of had problems with hair before, but highlights seems to help a lot, i did not know that i should handle hair as 1 big mass or shape instead of lines.

Hi Wei, I enjoy watching your video. I really like how you articulate drawing all the details from the picture as you said that it does not need to look exactly like the one on the picture, but I really get how you can turn your drawing into a realistic one. Although doing the shading part of the hair takes effort, you mostly did them so quickly. I noticed that as you go down the hair by the highlights, you can as well use a harder grade pencil such as maybe a 4h or 5h or maybe a 7h depending on how light the highlight is. More so, I like your instructional video. Try watching 5 pencil method here on you tube, his videos are much more into details like doing the hair and all, but it is a short video but well-mannered to watch. Thanks, Wei!

Thanks for the suggestion Maryanne. I've heard of that method but never watched any of the videos. Frankly, it name of the method sounds really boring, very dry. Why use 5, just use whatever you want, it's fun to experiment. And you get different looks. It may be a great method, but for my taste, I like to be a little more loose in my art.
