Mercifully my local CofE church is a beautiful, bible-faithful and traditional church, with a healthy and thriving congregation as well as a lovely, experienced priest. I feel like I've had a good hand thrown to me by fate in my pursuit of my calling from God and my return to regular church life.

Please don't tar all churches of England with the same brush. A few years ago we signed the resolution not to have women vicars, neither do we support blessing same sex couples. The teaching is excellent and very bible-based indeed. I think these three things contribute to the fact that we have been thriving, attracting people from other churches who aren't perhaps as clear in their focus. There is also a very caring atmosphere at the church. Praise the Lord he is really blessing us. We would love to be able to employ more people so we can reach out more into the town of Lowestoft. So that is our prayer... To be able to spread the gospel further and further. Just over 100 years ago there was a revival here in Lowestoft. Let's pray God will visit the town again!

The problem is that in an Anglican episcopal form of Church government your congregation cannot stand alone. Your Vicar and Parish council may ignore the bishop or archbishop but if you do you cannot claim to be CoE. You are then in effect a congregational church with Anglican traditions.

I am a new Christian (although, I haven't been baptised), but I would never join the C of E, it seems to me that the leadership isn't even Christian, they're just a bunch of Socialists. I've never read any text that was so beautiful or inspiring. The Bible showed me that humans DO have a soul, and we're not just a random bag of meat (which is what I was taught). After reading it, I can see why Jesus was able to conquer the Roman empire, multiple other empires and saved the world; He will be back for us, and he will save us once again. God will forgive us in the same way he forgave the Jews, I think that in the future, the dam will break and we will turn back to Him en masse, and He will be waiting for us with open arms (hopefully!).

I will just pop in with a quick observation. I remain in the Church of England because of my responsibility as a Chorister in line with the Chorister's Prayer! This makes me part of the Laity. I am willing to uphold and stand up for that. This situation of the last 40 years has come as something of a shock to me. And not exactly a welcome one! I heard Justin Welby's parting speech from the House of Lords and yes, it was disappointing! What should have been acknowledged was honest words of how short in falling into responsibility that was. Inappropriate is a word often used but it remains an apt description! That speech you will be alluding to - was that! And the Church of England will take several years or decades to straighten out the mistakes made! I will be clear on one more point. John Smythe should have been referred to the UK Police accordingly! The one relief is that it wasn't as bad as the Catholic Church, though I should have to be careful on how it's said. That was worse, this is particularly bad! As said, it's going to take a long time to straighten out the matter - and one of the things are the victims - including J P Smythe as well! - my thoughts are properly located there. I consider it as a long, precarious and difficult tunnel. In many ways, much more than the tunnel I negotiated in fighting for the vaccination programme! I'm guided by the Chorister's Prayer but I can only hope and pray that I don't run out of torches on the way! This is a much longer tunnel and perhaps a difficult one!

Where does the Roman Catholic Church now stand on traditional biblical morals with the pope's relegation of synodal ambivalences to the magisterium? It seems the Roman Catholic Church has had more scandals in recent years than in the whole of Anglicanism. What did you do with all of those Anglican truths you once believed? They are less true?
@PennySmartАй бұрын
The RC church leads people astray into idolatry : worship of and prayers to dead people (Mary, the "saints"), preaches salvation by works, elevates priests and the pope when the Bible teaches that all Christians are saints and priests, the eucharist is a blasphemous abomination: mere men claim to be sacrificing again the King of kings and Lord of Lords who the Bible tells us was sacrificed once and for all, etc. I'm an ex RC: I know what an apostate church it is: it has many faces and shows a different face in Protestant countries: its idolatry is more obvious in South America or Italy. The pope lives in disgusting wealth and is as much a political figure as a spiritual one. The Vatican is replete with financial scandals.

Not Brett, but I can answer this: The "Anglican Mission in England" (AMiE), the "Evangelical Connexion of the Free Church of England" (ECFCE) (FCE-Actual, (Some Background here!: the so called "FCE" is the FCE-Apostate and has been since 2002 when Fenwick was Ordained despite both Bishop's Arthur Bentley-Taylor and Barry Shucksmith (Barry Shucksmith now forevermore with the Lord Jesus Christ) calling for his, Fenwick's, Excommunication (due to his, Fenwick's, holding to white power Anglo-Israelist Heresy, his denial of the Filioque, his denial of the Five Points of Grace (and thus his holding to the Heresy of Wesleyan-Arminian-Pelagianism) his denial of the Five Solae, and his holding to the Papal Heresy of Transubstantionism) Instead! leading to them being locked out of the Convocation and thus Forming the ECFCE with a couple of other Preachers such as the Reverend Grahame Wray and the Reverend Virgil Tountas, who Left the FCE-Apostate due to Disgust at Fenwick's Ordination) and the ECFCE is basically the Continuing Remnant of the Original 1844 FCE) , the "Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion" (COHC) and the "Church of England-Continuing" (COFEC) (note, the last one is "King James Version Only" so the Sermons can be a little hard to Understand, but they are Fully Reformed) are all Independent Anglican Churches within either GAFCON or a US Paraministry. All are also Five Point Calvinist/Five Points of Grace as per the Unedited 39 Articles of Religion 1571, but there is a Split in that the AMiE and the COHC believe the Spiritual Gifts (such as Prophecy) are ongoing, while the ECFCE and COFEC believe those Gifts Ceased at the End of the Apostolic Age when the Apostle John went home to be with the Lord in around 101-105 AD. Hope that Helps!

I understand the outrage over Justin Welby’s speech in the House of Lords - if you believe that he is guilty of a significant wrong and yet seems so flippant about it. I have studied this whole issue carefully and read much of the Makin report as it relates to Justin Welby. In fact the only criticism of him that I can see there is that he should have followed things up more carefully. The idea that he covered up abuse is not shown here and is by no means proven. He has been condemned, essentially, not because he did anything seriously wrong, but because abuse is seriously wrong. British law holds to much higher standards than mob justice, so I am surprised by how many people have jumped on this band-wagon and made all sorts of unfounded accusations. I think that justin Welby's joking style in the House Of Lords was essentially him saying 'not guilty as charged'. I think that this is likely to be true. In losing Justin Welby we have lost a godly, highly motivated and highly principled good man. We may not see it, but we are all the worse for what is happening. I can’t see how this helps anyone.
