Welcome back, Horde Mania! - Inconceivable Veteran on Forge - Gears 5 Horde Mania

So we finally got to a solid match of Horde Mania in! We've been playing it decently consistently since it came out, and we got all the Tour of Duty objectives rolling, but it took us a little while to get a match down where we didn't hit a panic mode at one spot or another because of how little time you have for taps and building fortifications.
Mania definitely feels different from how it went on Gears of War 4. Back then, this was our go-to mode, and we usually slowed things down more for a Scout to go pick up the power. In this, it feels like we need to watch ourselves more as rounds seem to end without us capturing a tap or grabbing a solid handful of power more often. As well, with perks to level, fortifications to build, guns to collect, and taps to tap, the short amount of time you get in between waves has more pressure on it. As a result, Mania feels more chaotic than it did in its previous iteration.
That being said, it's a GREAT way to get cards. For a full 25 wave set, gives out 10 cards. If you're doing normal Horde you only get a few more, and Horde Frenzy only gives you 4 if it's not the daily. This seems like a nice in-between mode to hit up.
Also with THAT being said, I'll be trying to get a good engineer run (probably Mechanic or Architect) in to see how that feels trying to be a builder rather than being purely damage. We'll see if I want to pull my remaining hair out lol
As for the build, this is my go-to set up for Veteran as of now. Being that Mania gave us some chaotic moments, I figured it'd be best to use my main card layout to see how that is nowadays since I've been grinding and leveling out cards more. If only Gears wouldn't hate me and give me more Focus and Headshot Master cards, then I'd be in great shape! Loves giving me Band of Brothers tho so....fair. I also just enjoy using the retro lancer and lancer combo the most, but then always get reminded of how good the GL is, so I started hitting that up toward the later half of this match

Old veteran had a card which is now Focus, your ultimate duration would extend depending on the assault rifle damage you do. You could easily use it for 30 + waves. Obviously the more tanker the enemies the better.

@@CherryQuenchGears on top of it you would be practically invincible depending on your setup. Only matriarch was the only boss you couldn’t handle yourself. I can see why it got boring for others. Seeing as I could get like 14,000,000 over a demo’s 3,000,000 when it was active.

I remember the vet when the game was released. Marcus felt underpowered especially when you played with JD. JD at the time spawned with the GL and just destroyed everything

Yeah I wasn't around for much of it, but thinking that JD had 8 GL rockets he could hold at once was nuts. People also mention how Marcus had a card to extend Living Legend that could last for whole waves

@@CherryQuenchGears yeah it was fun. One time in op 4, i kept my living legend active from wave 10 to 50. Super cool, but i surprisingly don't miss it. It got stale fast and vet feels more fun overall now. Also ppl would skip round end timer out of courtesy for vet sometimes, to help keep it going.

Veteran passive- Take no damage during executions. Yeah, I think they’re trying to tell us something about Brutal Efficiency. I usually use Flank Em instead of Band of Brothers unless I’m playing with a Nomad rocking Armored Shot. Good run on Mania. Playing with a skilled team is the ONLY way to play at that level but do you ever feel it’s a little TOO efficient? IDK, sometimes it feels so “by the numbers” I can get burned out. I know this is Horde Heresy but sometimes I like to play with randoms in public matches (not on masters) to shake it up. I’ve met a lot of new people and learned a few things along the way. Oh yeah they really catered the passive to Brutal Efficiency no doubt And I ABSOLUTELY feel that "by the book" boredom. This match stayed fresh, but for the match coming out on Wednesday, we did the build so well that I didn't want to upload it because it was just boring to watch lol. We ended up redoing it on Mercy for a little bit more spice and that's what's going up That's why I'm happy to try out different and unique builds even if it's stupid, helps keep things fresh
