It is, this isn’t what Favreau had planned, he’s been half way out the door ever since they fired Gina and wrecked his whole plans for an interconnected mcu-esc story, why do you think Favreau killed of his own character? Why do you think Feloni is in charge of the mando movie KK announced not John? The writing is on the wall but a surprising of fans just don’t want to admit it. Iger and Kathleen mishandled Star Wars and sunk the franchise, that’s the truth.

If there is a contiunation I would guess it would be about "reforging it". For which they would need a jedi, I presume. Now getting a jedi to agree to (re-)making a lightsaber for non jedi is another matter, and could lead to an interesting story line, and maybe a co-op between The Mandalorian and Ahsoka-series. Then again it might just be gone. I would be fine with that.

I think, before people go into criticising this episode - and Star Wars in general - they should remember that Star Wars isn't about cameos, big reveals, post-credit scenes or iconic character hallway scenes. Star Wars isn't the MCU, and it certainly shouldn't be. This episode didn't end setting up a multitude of epic plotlines based in superifical fan service, because it shouldn't have done, and I'm glad it didn't: as represented through the iconic Star Wars end-transition at the end of the episode, this episode gave us some much-needed and earned finality to The Mandalorian, at least within this given chapter in the Mandoverse, and that's OKAY. MCU brainrot is a problem many people have in the Star Wars community nowadays; I see it with the Star Wars Theory crowd in particular, and I think it's a major problem that inhibits good faith film analysis.
@Juxie27

@@Wackaz sorry for having expectations? 😂 and no Star Wars isn’t the MCU but in your words the “Mandoverse”. They’re obv building towards a culmination of many titles in said cinematic universe, so I don’t blame myself as a STAR WARS fan to expect a Thrawn teaser. I disagree with the direction but that’s definitely the direction they’re going with. So I have expectations as a fan. It’s natural. Chill. Sorry not sorry.

There was clearly a longer plan, but this season had to make account for all the shenanigans: - Pandemic production stoppages and slowdowns - Losing Gina and the Rangers series - The frantic attempt to salvage BOBF My belief is that the Rangers series was supposed to handle the elements with the larger Imperial remnant and the Amnesty program; with that gone, the Pershing and Lizzo stories were patched into this season along with featuring Captain Teva more. I also believe the first Mando episode in BOBF was intended as the opener for this season, so they had to quickly throw together a new opener to recap and repeat the essential beats. They still needed to get to the same general end point here, so that going forward Ahsoka and future seasons would be back on the intended track. The unfortunate effect was a blatant patchwork of different things that really didn't work well together, under a relatively short active production timeline.

I suspect that your takeaway for how things were wrapped up was EXACTLY the point. Din's narrative CAN continue, but it doesn't have to. To my huge surprise, I actually really enjoyed this episode - it felt like classic Star Wars... infiltration of an enemy base, the use of a droid plugging into the schematics to help guide them through it all, some fantastic intercutting between action sequences, and a great fight scene at the end. All the boxes ticked. I mean, there were a lot of crazy inconsistencies (a mythical, centuries-old blade crushed in one second; the Praetorian Guards, who didn't break a sweat taking out Paz last week but who struggled mightily (and perhaps comically) against a little green puppet; said green puppet destroying the Gideon clones... how?; and Din just leaving the covert to go back to his solo adventures without explanation...). I have a LOT to say about the series as a whole, so I'll leave that for your series review.

My main gripe with this finale was that we were robbed of an epic space battle. Oh right, one minor nitpick too. So Axe can use his jetpack to get up into fucking orbit without running out of fuel? That makes me wonder just how far away that flying raptor took Ragnar in that one episode. It's like guys, can we please be consistent instead? What Axe did here really made that earlier episode feel like a plot convenience (alternatively, this episode was the plot convenience). Kinda like your average action movie where the hero never has issues with ammo until one specific plot point dictates them to run out for tension.

I don't necessarily have an issue with fuel being brought in as a factor, but let's just be fucking consistent with it instead of changing the rules to fit the plot every time. And a side note, if Axe can exit/enter atmosphere with his armor only covering X% of his body, then that opens the door to Gideon still being alive after the explosion if we apply the same "science" to both scenarios. So in real life, the space shuttle's surface hits 1477° C / 2691° F in that scenario... That just goes to show they really leaned into the cool/dramatic instead of something that's actually fucking logical.

I mean, the mythosaur did show up. It didn’t do anything which is slightly disappointing but at least we know it’s there and it could do things in the future. We don’t ever NEED to show Din’s face. They did it in season 1 so the audience got a peak at what he looks like, even that was not even totally necessary. And season 2 did it twice, both times to show how much he cares for Grogu. It doesn’t need to be a 1 time a season thing unless it’s for a reason. And the show didn’t promise a big betrayal either, that was purely speculation online. It actually ended precisely the way I expected it would (Gideon's master plan is revealed/ he dies/ Bo Katan becomes the leader/ Mando and Grogu win the final battle and ride into the sunset). What I'm actually most surprised about, is that we are having a season 4! Especially since season 3 felt very much like a conclusion to the story, as it perfectly tied together all the important plot points. Narratively, there's no real need for a 4th season. Plus, ending the series now is also a perfect opportunity to resolve once and for all the alleged behind-the-scenes issues with Pedro Pascal, whilst at the same time stopping Din Jarin from becoming an extra in his own show, from here on. Din should've died. I mean, it was a great set up. Grogu decided to leave his Jedi training to join Din, which was controversial, but could've meant something in this episode: Imagine Din being killed by Gideon while trying to protect Grogu. Grogu then loses control and uses the dark side against Gideon. He starts torturing and Force chocking him. Bo-Katan arrives and tries to calm Grogu down, but Grogu then Force pushes her and unintentionally hurts her, which is what makes him snap out of it. Bo-Katan then finishes Gideon (or takes him captive again) and the mandalorians win. In the epilogue we see all the Mandalorians together celebrating, but also having a ceremony for Din, Paz, and all the fallen warriors. The Armorer then talks to Bo-Katan in private, and asks her about "the foundling". Bo-Katan says that he left, but doesn't know where. We then get a scene of the guys from the New Republic receiving the news of Gideon being dead (or captured) and reacting to it. And lastly, we get a scene of Greef with a sad expression, looking at his holographic map, specifically at a lone house. End credits. ...and then a post credit scene: Grogu is in the N1, navigating with the help of R5. Here, we are either shown where he's going, or it's left vague for speculation, but the main point is that Grogu now has to deal with the consequences of his choice. He's lost, alone, and feels guilty. What will he do now? Will he return? When will he return? And that's a hook for season 4 or for whenever they decide to bring Grogu back.

I really dislike how the Darksaber was destroyed. In simple terms, it was a cool weapon that always felt very important up until it was crushed in Moff Gideon's hand. I loved seeing in Clone Wars AND how Din Djarinn wielded it, but hated how it was just destroyed. In longer terms, The Darksaber for good and bad was a significant relic of cultural importance and Mandalorian History, a weapon that was held by many warriors for thousands of years and served as a symbol of power and Mandalorian 'otherness' in the Galaxy as a culture that inherently rejected the Jedi Ways, killing their only Jedi and claiming his weapon as permanent reminder that Mandalorians will not submit themselves to the Jedi (or the Force, in a theological sense). All of the conflicts the Darksaber faced, all of the Jedi, Sith, innocent, or enemy lives it had extinguished, was crushed in the hand of the big bad's special armor. I can't help but call this disrespectful, to the lore, the history of the Mandalorians, and just another example of how Star Wars is becoming (or has become) more of a product to sell than a work of modern myth-making. I'll admit that I"m probably making a big deal out of nothing, objectively there have been more egregious things done in modern Star Wars and bigger mistakes made, but I really liked the mythic atmosphere around the Darksaber. It was like the Excalibur of the Mandalorians, and I have a soft spot for legendary weapons.

Gideon notices that Din is free (he knows their exact location!) but apparently he did not inform nearby troopers about it. There are these red force fields, they looked dumb to me episode earlier. Turned out they actually help attackers so they can eliminate defenders separetely. This also brought "opening droid" out of nowhere. Later the clones are laughably destroyed in few seconds. And after all that journey they end up in other side of hangar. Apparently there was the other way (to clones etc.) without these funny force fields. Also did you know that on Mandalore, there is no sun on the surface, but there is underground 😂

It's funny, really, all season long and in the years leading up to it, there was speculation and rumors and each week we speculated more and built ourselves up to our anticipated finale. Then it goes differently and everyone is upset or disappointed. Gang, we did this to ourselves. Speculation and rumors usually fall through. Go back and read some of the supposed leaks from this season and you'll see how foolish it is to put stock into them. So this episode did not have a super dramatic Marvel-style finale. We didn't see Thrawn show up, the Armorer didn't betray anyone and the Mandalorians achieved their goal. It's something rarely seen anymore in modern movies or season finales -- it's called a HAPPY ENDING. Sadly, it disappoints most people because there is no darkness or terrible loss. I think if there is one thing that was the theme for this season of the Mandalroian, it is how things sometimes don't go as you plan or as you fear and sometimes the end result is different but can be satisfying. A half year ago, people were passing 'rumors' on some SW forums that Bo-Katan would be Din Djarin's adversary all season and would betray him to achieve her goals. Like most of the rumors, it didn't go that way. But the end result of this rather unusual season of Mando is that Mandalore is being repopulated, Bo-Katan is finding a new purpose, the Darksaber is (at least for now) destroyed and Din and Grogu can return to a bounty hunter format in a neat way that can make it easy to tie their adventures into the Imperial Remnant story-arc that will lead to Thrawn and eventually the First Order. Ever sinse Mando appeared in TBOBF (Mando 2.5 as it was called) our expectations were challenged and maybe that is a good thing. Hopefully this is the end of the real Gideon and we'll see bits of stuff from Bo-Katan and Mandalore. IG-11 is back, R5-D4 finally got to be a droid hero like R2-D2 and finally we got to see Din kick some butt in this episode. It wasn't what I expected or feared, but honestly, real happy endings are very rare in SW media and I like this one.

It was Din trying to get in good with his people, which needed to happen but seemed to wander to get there. Only when they decide to retake the planet do they realize the size of the threat.

From a writing perspective it really baffled me that the clone room was not protected and secured further, also Gideon didn’t seem to bother to go there to protect it himself since it seemed to be his end goal Apart from that I really enjoyed the episode. The action was well done and I was cheering when Din could finally have some spotlight and good action himself. Also found the ending scene to be pretty wholesome.

Imperial trait I guess. Moonsize base aka the Deathstar easily destroyed by 2 torpedoes hitting the tiny core, which conveniently had an open route all the way in without any doors or other security measures, plus big "ravines" for xwings to hide in while guns can't hit them. Same here, no protection for the ultimate soldiers clones and they were completely undone by the hit of a single button. I believe this occurs several other times throughout the SW universe, but I forgot the others as of now.

Seriously. Why was Grogu able to catch up with Din? Why was Din left with so few guards he was able to escape by himself, just about? Why did Gideon keep so few men to support himself. Why did Gideon just let Din go kill the clones, if he was tracking him and intended to confront him? How was Gideon able to crush the darksaber??? Is that thing suddenly play-doh??? Also HOW WAS AXE ABLE TO FLY INTO SPACE WHEN THEY COULDN'T FLY AFTER A BIRD. And why did he crash the ship into the base!? He almost killed every single mandalorian, what an idiotic move. And why aren't the TIEs picking off all of the mandalorians. What was even the point of him staying behind at first, his ship got totally ravaged by the TIEs within seconds, he wasn't even a speed bump. So little of this episode made sense.

I am definitely NOT hyped for Ahsoka. In terms of storytelling and character development, every live-action show of Disney Star Wars has been a mess since Mando season 2 (with one exception: Andor). The Book of Boba Fett was a mess, Kenobi was a mess and this season of mando was underwhelming to say the least. Like the sequels, it really looks like they don't really know what story to tell. I hope Ahsoka is a lot better, but I am not pumped.

I felt pissed no of the theories happened at first and then stepped back and realized I was getting mad that things I made up in my head weren't getting magic'ed into reality lol. Now even with my expectations in check, this episode was still meh. Picture just a few changes, instead of rescuing Mano in the halls; Mand is being brutally tortured when Roboyoda shows up and saves his pops and now a badly injured Mando has to use his shear will power and poppa wolf energy get by. Then during the fight with Gideon, they defeat them only to hear, "You didn't think it would be -that- easy now, did you?" and bam! Force sensitive clone Gideon shows up and it takes DIn, Bo, and Grogou to take him down. When the ship is on the way down, Mando tells Wolf that the needs to make sure the ship hits the clone tanks and sends him the map. Wolf is then in a spot where he doesn't have time to escape and change course, looks at the window thinking about what he's about to do, then shouts, "For Mandalore!" and rides the ship downs in glory as he takes out the rest of the clones. Tell me that wouldn't of made a better episode. Oh and they totally should of saved Bo getting the dark saber till the end, even if it's still ends up being destroyed. They should of had Gideon defeat Mando at the end of last episode, take the saber and have Bo fight Gideon and earn it back from him. But... here we are.

@@xUseTheForks I would argue it's not actually the fans fault, because in the sequels and the 7th episode, there were a lot of hints that they purposely dropped. Everything from Axe Woves and the Armorer leaving at convenient spots, and the episode title being plural, to the sequels with JJ and his admitted mystery boxes he placed in the movies. Stop acting like the fans are pulling this stuff out of nowhere. Recent Star Wars has notoriously been using red herrings to the detriment of the overall story.

For once i actually did not get carried away with all those theories of the Armorer etc, and glad i didn't lol. Eckhart's Ladder and thor skywalker did though lol, guess they must feel abit stupid now huh lol. I always just saw the Armorer as a kind of Merlin figure, she uses magic in a sense, by pouring vials of the living waters into her forge, to help imbue the ore maybe. And she advises the other Mandalorians, while being greatly respected by them. Some of my own small theories were partially correct, i called it from Season 2 that Gideon was trying to "Artificially Imbue" clones with the force, which had led to failure and those horribly deformed bodies in the tanks. theories can be fun but it's always important as fans we don't start absolutely believe them to be true, as you can set yourself up for major disappointment. It's always best to know that whatever cool idea you've put all your own imagination into; there's a good chance the writers don't have as big or strong imaginations as us Fans do for Starwars. Rian Johnson and his - *Your Snoke theory Sucks.* Cards taught me that.

A lot of people giving Jon grief. So much real world problems have come about since the last season; Rangers being axed and somebody interfering with the Grogu/Luke aspect and rushing him back in Book of Boba. This whole season feels like somebody (or somebodies) pressuring Jon/Dave into veering away from the original plan and shoe-horning a lot of other stuff in. Saying that, I did like the Bo-Katan journey, although that would probably mean a less to anyone who didn't watch the Clone Wars. Hopefully this ending proves to be a bit of a reset and they can get the orignal spirit back into the show next time around.

On Boba Fett showing up: As much as I like Mando, you've got to admit it feels kind of 'wrong' that the Mandalorian Homeworld has been reclaimed without the single character who introduced us to Mandalorians in the first place having been part of it. Wonder if they will address this in the next season of Boba Fett; hell, I wonder if he may be the one character to ride the Mythosaur out of the waters (kind of already did it with a Rancor). Also, I'm not confused on how much 'fuel' do those jet packs carry? We say them chasing the 'Dragon Bird', but ran out of fuel before they could catch it. Yet Axe Wolf managed to thrust into Low Orbit without running out?!?! Also-Also: Axe's helmet was able to provide oxygen to him when he hit orbit, but Din was worried if the surface air was breathable? Cetainly he could have taken a trek outside of the ship for awhile using the suit's reserves. Finally (promise 😅), I do hope that somehow one of Gideon's 'Force Clones' somehow survived. I would like to see the character (and the actor) return to the show if he wishes to (and to me I don't think we need Thrawn, he was this shows 'Thrawn'......blasphemy,. I know, but I never read the trilogy 😅)

And after what they done to him in his own show they had to bring him back to get him some real action. After all you could also consider why at a moment of the season they gather to fight for Nevajo with the excuse of wining a land they can live on without hiding, they surely could have make a deal with Boba to live on Tatooïne and become his army. There's total lack of imagination in this season, the overall idea is good, but the detailed scenario is poor. In the end yes that's quite a shame Boba was let aside from this story.

Underwhelming doesn't even come close to describing this episode. They made the mandalorians retaking mandalore feel like a filler episode. Moff Gideon gets mad that his ultra important force capable clones were destroyed despite tracking Din, calling off reinforcements so that he could see to it personally... to just wait for Din to do whatever he wants. When and how did R5 come to the surface? Doesn't matter. We see the hangar was full of Mando stormtroopers on standby, yet none of them noticed R5 fly in. Grogu was with Bo and crew... and then teleports to save Din. The spy thing turned out to be nothing, the mythosaur was nothing. A bad episode to finish off a bad season. They're gonna have to really convince me to even bother checking out season 4.

So... that happened. Season 3 was... something else. Here are my thoughts on that last episode: I won't nitpick minor details. I will focus on the ones that actually affect the episode in a big way. Somehow Grogu found Din. Ok. Moff Gideon can track Din Djarin's exact location (and also Grogu's) but tells no one and sends no one after him. Ok The Imperial star fighters either can't see the Mandalorian ships on their radars or through their windows, or can but ignored them to take out the capital ship (didn't even radio anyone about them). Ok No Imperial thought the Mandalorian capital ship not firing back or the leaving fighters (if they saw them) not fighting back was weird. Ok. The base either couldn't or didn't track a bunch of incoming ships on any radar... in Star Wars. Ok. Grogu held back an explosion/fire strong enough to destroy a Besker armoured suit (Gideon). Ok. And this just made me laugh. Moff Gideon literally T-posed before catching fire. Why? To die cool. But first he crushed the darksaber with his bare hands, somehow. (Isn't the darksaber Besker)
