A lot of TMI coming up. The best period I have is when I've been eating well the month before my period. Particularly plant based/ or more whole foods and not really any processed foods. I'm talking 3 days from first spotting to completely stopping, and absolutely no pms symptoms before or during. No sore breasts, no aching lower back, nothing at all. It's just like, "surprise I'm here!" Oh, and I have hardly any bleeding. So Everytime I eat like crap I completely hate myself because I make myself miserable during my period when it's totally avoidable 🤦‍♀️

Constipation before your period is usually caused by the hormone progesterone, which slows down your digestion. Sorry to hear you deal with this! Fennel and Licorice tea are very helpful to get things going!

@@kauigirl808 diarrhea before your period could be caused by a rise in prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are created by the uterus and can migrate to the intestines to cause diarrhea.

I never cramps and I feel very lucky about that but THE BLOOD I wear maxi pads during the day and at night the blood reaches all the way to the bottom of the pad and I can almost feel the dampness if I touch the back of the pad but it doesn’t leak thank goodness but I had a lot of clots and they stay stuck on top of the pad...

That is because of the oestrogen peak, as this hormone has an appetite-suppressent effect. I'm the same on the first 2 days or so of my periods, low to no appetite. Oestrogen levels peak and drop during your periods, and gradually rise again during the follicular phase until ovulation. I noticed having a clean empty gut reduced cramping. When my cycle starts I always have to move my bowels multiply times during day 1 which lessen the cramping to no cramping.

It's because fibers flush out excess estrogen. If you eat little it will avoid constipation too, avoiding excess estrogen.

This is the WEALTH of technical information I’ve been dying for! I have no physical symptoms and all mood issues pre-period and have been struggling for a year to find answers (since going off birth control). I eat mostly vegetarian so it’s no wonder I haven’t been getting enough of a lot of these. Although I eat most of these foods daily, I never thought it was my vitamin levels that were the issue. This answers all my questions I’m so grateful for this video thank you so much!

Have you ever heard about Woman's cycle and Four phases? It has transformed my life. Maybe it could help you too. chocolate and cocoa contain high amounts of tannins (thats why their bitter also) and this is known to interfere with the absorption of iron. If you are prone to iron deficiency, especially on your period (which is in fact the most common deficiency world wide) I would not eat dark chocolate while consuming other iron sources.

I avoid pain through having fenugreek tea, green tea infused with mint, apple cider vinegar infused with ginger and warm water (no i don't mix these 😂). I avoid cold beverages and sweet foods. Before and during to avoid cramps as well. I haven't felt a thing this entire year, if i do....it's mild. Incorporating a healthy diet with mostly fruits and veggies has done wonders for m as well. I do not really care for coffee, but even if you do crave a cup every once in a while. i do not have it before or during my period.

I wonder if it could have something to do with pushing ourselves and needing to function the same way as the rest of the month. To do, to perform, to finish tasks. But our body is asking us to slow down, rest, be and recharge. But there hasn't been that much space for that in our society. 😔

I'm still experimenting but since cutting chicken out for beef, beans, nuts as protein sources I don't vomit or have intense cramps with only light spotting the first day. Oh no I go to 3 hrs of a contraction ache pressing feeling with sweats and instant flow in my sleep. 😂 That's a win in my book.

Stinging nettles 🙌 are incredible sources of iron (and they can be free and abundant especially in UK) Turmeric and cacao 💖 Hibiscus tea. Beetroot. I've had a weak coffee yesterday and black tea today and can totally feel how it increases jitteriness. Will avoid caffeine next period. Also if you can collect and give some or all of your blood to mother earth in a nature abundant area you will avoid sending this incredible vibrant blood of life to sit in landfill/sewers. We are psychically connected to our sacred and powerful womb blood. Bless up sisters of the world. May we remember.

I heard that you are supposed to eat a plant based diet, no animal products , no meat, no eggs, no cheese, no milk every day, year round, not just during your period, to prevent menstrual cramps

That's not necessarily true. Different diets are good for different people. A plant based diet can actually cause hormonal disruption. Hope this helps!

If you want to lose fat, you shouldn't compromise your health with the keto diet. I recommend getting a personalized diet. I've had great success with the Agoge diet for example.

Just curious, do you make more time to rest during your period? Or do you function as any other day? This is my perception, but please take what resonates and let the rest go. I believe that since we are bleeding, we are loosing energy, and if we have to function 100% as the rest of the month then it makes sense to me that our body is asking more food, to have more energy to do the tasks. It really made a difference for me when I started making time in the morning or evening to rest, and just be. I would observe if I am hungry because I feel tired and I still want to do lots of things or maybe talk to a nutritionist who could help you design a balanced diet for what your body needs now. I watched my diet change over the years. And we are all unique. I hope you find the best way for you.

😭 I can’t sleep anymore because of my period because of STUPID CRAMPS 😭 😭 I started it on my birthday too 😭 😭 I just want it to end 😭 😭 My mom just tells me when I’m in pain “You need to get stronger” 😭 When will it end?

Get something light to eat and then take an ibuprofen. Next period I recommend taking a painkiller before the worst pain kicks in, also drink lemon water. Your mom shouldn't tell you things like you need to get stronger, girl, my cramps used to be so bad I was fainting from the pain, leaving me not only bleeding from my uterus, but also from my head, couldn't even get up from my bed to go to toilet, the pain just paralyzed me, I was crying for hours and hours, always missed school because of it. I'm older now and I know how my body works, I also know many tips and tricks, still can't leave my bed for the first 3 days of my period and always take a day off at work. Much love💙💙💙

If they’re keeping you awake all night it could be endometriosis! This isn’t normal you need to see a doctor and get an internal scan

Uless you have been living on a whole and real foods diet since childhood, these food reccomendations won't cut it for you. Especially in the ultra-processed America, you will most likely need to supplement to get these vitamins and minerals. We're likely all defficent.

I hope this is not too late, but I once saw a video that said something about diets on your period could be harmful. It may have just been the keto diet but I’m not sure. You should look into it, i wouldn’t wish something bad happening to anyone!
