What the doctor is saying is so true. Since I became vegan a few years ago, my severe period pains are a thing of the past. I don't even feel anything different until it actually starts, absolutely no pain, no bloating, nothing. That was an unexpected bonus of the vegan diet. Like the lady he mentioned, O had such aweful pains during periods. I suffered from fibroids at one point, which is very close to endometriosis. The pain went completely away when I stopped eating animal products. Inverse bleeding is the cause of endometriosis, also. The blood contains stem cells meant to regenerate uterine lining and support vagina health. You shouldn't use tampons or cups, which stifle the release of blood. Use overnight pads, if necessary, but stay away from products that misdirect the flow. When the flow is blocked from it's natural route, it's like messing up the plumbing, it will spill into the wrong areas.

I have endo and had the most painful periods and actually had constant stomach pain....... I am a registered dietitian, and I found Keto completely dissolved the pain, when I gave up gluten and sugar!! Completely opposite of what you're recommending. Quit sugar everyone..... I eat fish and dairy and oils daily. I used to have to take off work because of stomach pain and also period pain. As long as I avoid any food triggers (sugar/gluten) I feel great.

You have given me more information in this video than any FEMALE doctor I've had. Even nutritionists they had me speak with didn't inform me the way you have. I suffer from endometriosis. I was just given prescription after prescription due to heavy bleeding and long cycles. I stopped taking anything just because it made everything worse. Thank you for sharing what you know. My partner is vegan, iv been with her 2 years and if I’m honest I was and am still skeptical of this lifestyle. I suffer with really bad with period pain, bloating, severe breast pain and I’m out for at least a 4 days before and during, I get really tired, drained in fact. So I’m going to try this after this period and check back in with the truth. Because no one seems to have an answer for me and everyone is telling me this is normal, which in my own opinion isn’t because iv only been suffering with this 5 months and I’m getting my period over 10-12 years years now I’m 27.

Sad news for a choc-a-holic! But obviously I didn't understand the science of it all. It's great that this issue is being brought to the forefront because it can be very debilitating for sufferers, as well as difficult for unaffected people to empathise and painkillers are just not strong enough.

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been having periods for more than a decade now and I’m in my 20s. When I tell people that I don’t have cramps, they tell me that I’m lucky and sometimes people don’t even believe me. I’m not vegan however there are times in my life when I haven’t gone vegan before. I see the benefits in a plant-based eating plan and I recommend that to everyone. I eat small amounts of animal product without much problem. I also see the value in limiting oil intake. Everyone was 90% plant-based or even 80% plant-based, it would be a game changer for many people. There’s too much reliance today I’m highly processed foods and factory farmed animal products that are made from animals that eat a highly inflammatory diet. This is just my opinion and I hope you all take care.

Wow this makes a lot of sense! I’ve been almost totally plant-based for the past 5 years or so. But I started transitioning to this diet a few years before that. I definitely noticed the difference between the extreme and debilitating menstrual pain I had before going plant-based and how it lessened as I slowly stopped eating dairy and eggs. But I still had some pain that is fairly uncomfortable though it wasn’t nearly as severe as before. I still am taking Ibuprofen for my monthly cramps. Some months are better than others, but I’m thinking that might be because of the oil. So I really want to experiment with no added oils as much as possible.

Here is my testimony! I was in so much pain - cramping and bloated often even outside of menstrual period. I watched this video months ago and decide to cut off animal products from my diet to which I was amazed by the fact that the first month I didn’t have any cramps and the bloating wasn’t as bad and over time that went away as well . I told my doctor about this - he was surprised and couldn’t figure out why I was cramping so bad in first place. Long story short - its been now 8 months, I remained on plant based diet: I consume veggies, fruits and low carb foods and I have no desire to eat meat or any other animal products ever. Thank you for helping me in discovering that animal products was causing me so much pain, for sharing your knowledge and the lady’s story with us. Yes. I found that part awkward. A plate should consist of veggies anyways so the fibers are there from them, who cares if chicken doesn't have fibers. That's why we need to eat different food, you won't find something alone that meets your needs. Meat sits in your gi system for longer, but that's not the point.

@anastasia bolsun this doesn’t sound normal, it may be due to some ovarian cysts or fibroids that cause excessive bleeding, you need to see a gynecologist. Or it may also be due to your nutrition. Are you eating enough legumes? (Lentils, beans, chickpeas and rice must be your main meals) many vegetarians eat fresh vegetables mostly and this will cause many issues, as a vegetarian your health and energy will be mostly supplied by the above ingredients that I mentioned.

Exactly what I heard many times caring for my sick mom when she was in the hospital. Honestly I am thankful we have a healthcare system but at the same time I lost my hope in it as well. They dont treat the causes anymore, only fixing temporarly whats broken with things that makes your body many times sicker at the end. Giving you painkillers for everything instead of asking for physical and mental health and life style of the patient.
