I worked at a Wendy's around 20 years ago now, the beef never went into the freezer. Patties also don't have holding pans/trays for burger meet*. They have a hot and less hot part of the grill, and quite literally every patty came straight off of the grill . When things got slow and the meet was too done for a burger it became chili meet. I worked at a few fast food chains as a teen, as did my friends. I have to say when a store is run correctly**, Wendy's is the cleanest and freshest fast food that I'm aware of. Their burgers taste the same today as they did then, as long as you aren't going to a crappy location. *Chicken for sandwiches can go in a holding tray, but if guidelines are followed, it's not an issue. I don't remember the time, but there is a reasonable limit for holding. If you get a crappy one, it was cooked in old grease or was held too long. **Many Wendy's simply fail at following the guidelines, which are really very simple. It's just laziness and/or manipulative cost cutting by the store manager or worse, the GM overseeing multiple stores in your area. An additional *, grease for fries and nuggets is supposed to be changed out daily at the very least, more if it is a high flow location. If your fries have that off putting or nasty bitter taste from any restaurant, this is because they were were cooked in old or overused grease.

8:38 speaking of scalding hot coffee, here in Australia we just had an Asian guy pouring scalding hot coffee on a baby (7 months or so iirc), evaded police man hunt for 7 days before flying out of the country. The community was furious when the police announced he had fled. The most mind-boggling thing is...the police said him and the victim's family had no prior contact. So dude just randomly chucking boiling coffee onto random kid, then plan an elaborate escape plan and fled the country. It was wild. Look it up. Police refused to release his name so it might be tricky to search. But there's footage of him fleeing the scene.

As someone who does work at a Wendy's, I can confirm the meat situation. The burger meat is.....not frozen, BUT every other meat is frozen. The bacon changed to pre-cooked now and sucks, and the reason we don't have the grilled chicken sandwich anymore is because they changed the chicken to pre-cooked, frozen, and cut that gets warmed up in the microwave. The chili meat is literally old hamber meat that was on the grill too long, then soaked in hot water to get grease out and chopped up before being frozen.

Dave Thomas was also a FreeMason. He used to say at his Lodge that "The reason the burgers are square is because Masons dont cut corners." He was a good Brother, who made the fraternity proud by being a good man with outstanding cherecter 💯💯💯

Oh man, I hate being THIS person, but, I knew Dave. They lived next door to my dad’s cousin. We’d have lots of family parties there. Dave and his wife Loraine were always welcome. And they brought great food and played cards and horseshoes or croquet either us. He had a very outgoing and goofy sense of humor. He was WARM. His wife was really sweet too. His daughters were older when I met Dave and Lorraine but I did meet them, even Wendy Lou and they were just a down to earth family. It’s Dave Thomas, not Thompson. He was a really great guy. Very very friendly and he really did give a lot to the town and various charities. He came from a very relatable background. He was just a good husband, good dad, good neighbor and friend. I was a kid but he’d be at parties, this was in Ohio, he had a place down in Florida too. When he passed he left a lot of people bummed and broken. He was truly a great guy. I wish I could laugh at this but knowing him personally made it hard. :( Also, Wendy was never obese. Also The lady who burned herself with coffee? Yeah, third degree burns in her vagina and her vulva. Her genitals, inner thighs and urinary tract were destroyed. The coffee was like 130 degrees. It’s was excessively hot. This wasn’t a simple case of scalding, and the way she was trashed? Yeah, that’s publicity doing its thing. Look into it. Studied this one in law school. She never asked for anything beyond her medical bills. She became a maligned joke, an infamous example of greed but that’s exactly the antithesis of reality. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants

It’s pretty well known he was a nice man. My boyfriend worked there and we all really loved that he was so involved with children adoption especially because my mother in law was adopted, and she also had to put up her first for adoption being a teenager in Iowa in the late sixties. But luckily in her case her child was given to their pastor. So she knew she was well cared for however she refused to speak with her ever. But my mother in law had a lovely relationship with her birth mother before passing last year. And you’re right it kills me the way the media and public smeared that poor elderly woman who was severely burned and disfigured. 😢

For real. Though, the coffee was more like 190F or 87C rather than 130F. It was basically the temperature you actually brew the coffee at. It will give you severe burns within seconds of contact. You aren't able to actually even drink the coffee until it's cooled to at least 140f/60c.

I have a hard time with different textures on my fingers and stuff, and loud noises, and I have an eating disorder so even milk is heavy. well, they literally exclusively put me on register, or during rush they would put me in the back to drain cold brew and make the next batch. Literally for the whole 2 years I worked there, I was never put on coffee making duty with the espresso machines, unless like no one was there. Otherwise, I would clean, stock milk, and do register. People did treat me like I wasnt smart. I complained to the manager because people talked to me like I was a kid despite being an adult. But, it didnt help at all. I had to quit, but yeah I had that experience.

I hear jokes about that old lady that was ‘scalded’ by the coffee at Mcdonald’s falling in her lap and the jokes are always laced with a bit of disdain for the woman as if it was a silly lawsuit and she was just money hungry. I too felt kinda like this years ago until I saw a story on what really happened! First, she was an ELDERLY Woman sitting in the passenger seat of the car….she was not driving. Second, the lid was not properly put on the cup and it spilled (a lot of it) into her lap and crotch. This was minor either. It created 3rd degree burns to her private area and nearly ended her life!! She was hospitalized for quite some time!
@disturbeddonut21513 ай бұрын

It wasn't the fact that the women spilt the coffee, it was that the coffee gave her 3rd degree burns, mutilated her crotch, and had her go to hospital where she almost died of infection.

@sbtchhrs3 ай бұрын
@@disturbeddonut2151right, the jury found mcdonald’s only 80% liable for it. yes, the woman spilled the coffee. the issue is that there had been multiple complaints and citations to mcdonald’s for their coffee being dangerously hot, and at the time of the incident it was served in paper cups. originally, stella liebeck (the woman who was burned) only wanted to settle for about $18000 dollars which was for medical expenses both already received and anticipated and lost wages for her daughter who took care of her after she got out of the hospital. mcdonald’s basically spit in her face and offered $800. attorneys and mediators tried to settle it out also, but old mickey d’s said fuck that. her burns would not have been nearly as severe (her clitoris MELTED. one of her labia was fused to her thigh.) if they had just served the coffee at a reasonable temperature instead of way above even federally regulated temperatures. her lawsuit was made fun of for years and used as anti consumer rights propaganda. i will champion for that woman as long as there is breath in my body because mcdonald’s and then the media did her so fuckin dirty.
