Wendy let Kevin take her for all she’s worth, in every way. She may be her own best friend but she’s also been her own worst enemy for most of her life. Who would let their best friend stay with some trash, career sabotaging dude for two decades?
@Silly_u19083 жыл бұрын
Well in her defense her parents have groomed her to be in an emotionally abusive relationship. Their constant nitpicking and criticism of her personality and weight combined with bullying as a child has caused her to isolate herself and to not trust others. She couldn’t find emotional and mental protection in her own home so it’s not a surprise that she fell in love with the protection (control) Kelvin offered her.
@tlowery20743 жыл бұрын
@@Silly_u1908 of course. I don’t blame her for her trauma informed responses. But at the same time, Wendy is GROWN and has been grown and grownups needs to take responsibility for their own well being and not play the martyr with excuses like “for my son” especially bc that’s an awful one. And my point is also that it’s sad she didn’t have the wherewithal to trust anyone’s opinion above her own heavily internalized issues after watching this play out for years and choosing to stay with a grown man for two decades who had shown in every which way over time that he was not sh-t.

Wendy's parents were traaaaash for the way that they treated her as a child. I was fully expecting them to come on and say that they regretted how they treated her back then. But when they came on smiling about it, and her mother said, "look at how good she looks now," I was just SHOCKED and saddened for her. It also made me understand a little more why she may not have attended her mother's funeral. There is probably some deep trauma that she is holding on to. Unfortunately I know where Wendy is coming from. There’s some of us that teach our children that is better to be in a bad relationship than not to have a man at all. I’m assuming Wendy’s mom may have inadvertently taught her that when she demonized her for her appearance and possibly praised her when she was married to Kevin. I’m sure Wendy would want her parents acceptance over their criticism so that could be one reason she stayed outside of desiring his love, affection, protection (control), and the desire to protect her son. It’s tragic.

Toni... First, get therapy. A good therapist can definitely help. Second, subscribe to a meditation app and force yourself to do it daily, even if it's only for 5 minutes. It will help clear your mind and focus on the roots of whatever ails you. The mental clarity you glean from meditation can be eye-opening! I use an app called "Ten Percent Happier." You can either use their basic free guided meditation (what I use) or pay for their subscription. Another good one is Headspace (I like Ten Percent Happier better because it's less frilly - lol). Finally, know that all negative emotions, behavior and thought are fear and pain-based. Every time you feel, think or behave negatively what you are really saying is that you are fearful of being in some kind of pain (emotional or physical). This is also eye-opening and will help you get to the root of almost all of the pain in your life... and with this knowledge, you will slowly start to heal! Trust me. All of these things work. lol Good luck, my dear. Namaste. ;-)

I grew up listening to Wendy on the radio. I remember one time she had Kevin on her show. Even as a CHILD I knew just from listening to him speak that he was a scumbag. He's the definition of you can judge a book by its cover. I really hope that Wendy gets therapy because if a child can sense this man is no good how couldn't a grown woman not see the writings on the wall. He was able to make money off her trauma and low self-esteem.

Systemic fatphobia and anti-fat bias is negatively affecting all of us and I wish people would see that. People are always like "well I'm fatphobic because I'm concerned for your health" if you're so concerned about peoples health you would consider the fact that mental health is also important, if not more important and fat shaming people and making them feel less than because of their bodies doesn't exactly help anyone's mental health. I've never understood Wendy's obsession with "hood guys" (her words). Wendy isn't even Gen X, she's a boomer and grew up in an upper middle class family. She grew up with people we read about in history books at her family dinner table. I know she always talked about wanting to rebel against her family's expectations of her but she picked Kelvin? A bummy criminal from the streets? She had zero issue leaving her first husband who was the polar opposite of Kelvin.
@WhoCares30013 жыл бұрын
@Hanna A No. That isn't it with Wendy. And please drop this notion that suburbs are unaffected and produces naive people easily taken advantage of. Wendy has always been scheming and calculating and proud of it! She used to openly mocked her siings for going the route of their parents. She openly looks down on people who grew up in the hood. All this while admitting she "likes bad boys."
@WhoCares30013 жыл бұрын
And I only mention her age because we all know having upper middle class household is a rarity for someone her age. Her parents were born during the 20s and became professors and members of every black elite social group. They fled Asbury Park, which was a black upper set community at the time, for Ocean Township. Her parents were embarrassed by her going into radio as they saw entertainment as low brow. It was only when she made a TV career they became proud of her. I say all this to say, maybe she tried so hard to be the black sheep that she held onto Kelvin because maybe she didn't want to admit he was a mistake?

@A rose is a roseGirl this is all stuff Wendy has said a million times on radio. And again, I have good friends who worked with her/knew her. Wendy rebranded for TV. So if you're not from our neck of the woods you may not know these things but its all pretty much public knowledge.

@Hanna A Sis Wendy used to be in and out of Long Branch as a teen. She navigated the hood, NY media, and more lol. Ice always admired gow crafty she is. Again, what you're describing doesn't fit her narrative. She has black girl friends who share her upbringing so she never had the pressures of being around hood girls. Like I said, she always mentions her friends and sister married well and she was the black sheep.

I don’t believe Wendy chose to be isolated. A huge part of her radio personality was gossip and as I’ve heard from other bloggers, it’s hard to make friends especially with industry people. They wouldn’t be able to speak freely around her.

I do not care for Wendy Williams at all and don't understand the love so many gay men have for her. She's so homophobic and was awful when she was on the radio. Well, maybe I do, since the ones who love her tend to be bitchy and extremely messy themselves. Anyway, she's certainly good at what she does, I guess. Now, while I don't actually care about Wendy, your commentary was fire and so on point. You're so right on the fucked up childhoods part. My parents weren't perfect, but I'm so glad for the stability and sanity they raised us in. I've met so many people who are stuck in the cycle of reliving hellish childhoods in their adult relationships, unable to break free or make different choices.

Wendy has stated in promotional interviews for the movie and documentary that she is in therapy now. Also, I believe the documentary was filmed relatively soon after her divorce was finalized. She is a BEAST and good at her job being a celebrity personality, meaning she has the gift of gab and will tell your business lol.
