Envy you, what a cute teddy bear. About the audio, for my ears it's perfect. Assume most peopel anyway don't hear the difference between good and excellent audio. Action, smooth camera, nice cut and good music is much more important from my point of view. And that's what you do really good.

I don't think you guys have audio issues. It's natural for the style, clear and audible. You could improve it with a camera-mounted shotgun mic, if you don't already use one. And if you want a better sound for standups or interviews, a lavaliere mic could help. but for the most part, I think you guys do a great job with the production quality! And I'm not just talking about of my behind-I used to produce for film & television. Always room to improve, of course, but don't think that you have any major issues to correct!
@Weretherussos7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin - since we a couple weeks behind on our videos, we were able to take some of the lessons and apply it to our last couple videos. We've found we can correct most of the audio in post and really don't need any extra equipment. A lav would be nice but not practical since we run and gun and it would have to be running all day.

Just finished watching latest video. Enjoyed it very much especially Leo getting a play pal and how you referenced or used a classic Rodney Dangerfield movie such as Back to school. Hilarious. I too quote that portion "don't step on number two" movie quote when trying to insert some humor into my daily life. I didn't catch his new pals name and what breed is he/she. Will he/she have recurring appearances? It's wonderful to see how the both of you get along so well. No doubt this experience has brought you closer together. Wish you both (and Leo) the best. Hey a thought, maybe a small Leo segment (Leo stretching, Leo gives his opinion, Leo sleeps all day, etc) just a thought. Well look forward to next week Wednesday. Just a thought... We watch a lot of different channels and find the more technically perfected they are the less we watch them. The reason is the channel loses the authenticity. The KISS therory attracts us because we want to see the reality of the lives we are watching. The more high tech starts to feel like a production so we tune out. We have 18000 subscribers now to our channel and really try to keep it real to the bone. We get the better equipment but yours seems fine for what it is worth. Safe travels!

I loove your channel. It's only sad that there is only one vlog per week. I think your audio is good enough. If you need better, check out Sennheiser. They used to have great products. I'm super interested to live in a RV. Unfortunately i live in Switzerland and campsites are not open during winter. Camping is also quiet expensive and there are not even wash saloons in the area where I work....
@Weretherussos7 жыл бұрын
That's why you have to go south in the winter...a good excuse to travel to Portugal or someplace to escape the cold ;) I'm not sure we have enough time to do two videos/week. Our one video takes about 3 days to edit plus all the time it take to shoot, etc.

@orcaflotta78677 жыл бұрын
+Holger You gotta open your mind a bit and be more flexible. In a van you don't need a fu**ing campground, as you don't need to pitch a tent or something. When you're tired you just park at the side of the road, jump onto your berth and join dreamland. Every McDonald's parking lot will do if you really need your sleep. Also you'll have food and a toilet there right on the spot. Or use Autobahn rest areas, public parks or commercial areas which are super quiet at night. It's called boondocking and is the prefered method of overnighting for van dwellers and nomads around the globe. Wash salon? You don't wash your clothes every single day, but you just use the opportunity of a wash salon once the opportunity arises. Apart from that there are enough camping soaps available for all kinds of washing, from dishes via clothes to yourself. In Switzerland you're at a perfect starting location for vanlife: You have the beautiful mountains and forests, and Italy and France are just around the corner. I wouldn't even know in which direction to point my vehicle's snout first. Don't let the small shit hold you back, just go for it and enjoy life on the road!
@robertobeltramelli38117 жыл бұрын
Holger Sommer, sad that they went out of business? I looked for their headset at Oshkosh this year!
@airliner1980haj7 жыл бұрын
Orca, my mind is open(basically I have been all over the world). But VanLife combined with a fixed job is not that easy. In Switzerland the law is very strict and especially parking a car is very difficult. I also know, that I do not have to wash clothes every single day, but as I said, there is no wash salon available in whole western Switzerland and especially in winter time with minus degrees, it is a bit difficult to dry clothes if you have done hand wash. Depending of the size of the car, shower might not be available and it`s also not that easy to dump grey water.... Thats why I have to stick to my Apartment for the moment and go for a small RV, which is also nice.

I understand the desire to improve your audio, but your audio is good. Maybe not great, but good. I have watched so many videos where the sound is terrible. People setup their camera and then walk away from it until you cannot hear it, or they don't edit out the overwhelming wind noise that totally overpowers any other sound. Ya'all do a good job.

In Europe a van like the Russo's is considered BIG and HUGE. You know roads are generally narrower (is that even a word?) and more twistybendy and we drive at much higher speeds. So you need a more agile, spunky vehicle. But to make up for the smaller size European vans are often much more clever constructed and versatile and the overall build quality is much higher than American riffraff.

@cheribrown76617 жыл бұрын
I like the quality of the videos you produce now. Your friend touched on the size of the camper van; I've been wondering - don't you guys miss a real bathroom and a little more room? It's nice to have the maneuverability, but it seems too cramped. On rainy days or cold days, it would seem too small. I don't expect that you would say you hate it, but do you maybe wish you hadn't gone quite so small? Safe travels!
@Weretherussos7 жыл бұрын
Hey Cheri - In some ways we do miss having a full bath room but there are always going to be compromises. The smaller size of the RV is much more manageable for us and the way we travel so that more than makes up for the lack of the full bath. That said, we've actually said we can go smaller than what we have now...so we actually wish we had gone with the smaller model.

Hello Russos! First thing, I love you channel and all the great informative content you guys create. I am in the process of saving up to purchase a van (not a nice promaster like yours) to do stealth urban living in. I was wondering, when you guys are doing stuff like in this vlog what do you do with your dog? Do you leave him in the van with AC? I have a Boston Terrier and I really am worried about that component of it. Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
@Weretherussos7 жыл бұрын
We try to move and stay in cooler weather so that when we do leave him, we can open the vents and turn the fan on. That keeps the van cool and Leo happy. Keep in mind, we're living in the van...so if it's comfortable for us, it's comfortable for him.
@i.m.77107 жыл бұрын
We're the Russos - You've gotten this question a million times, I'll hunt for the answers, where do you park at night (in general, not specific, free preferred). I'm looking at older roadtreks and a specific class a brand, but I don't ever want to pay rent for an rv park or live in one. That's silly. You don't need a $1000 mic to record decent audio. Are you using a stereo condenser mic on your phone now, or are you using the regular phone mic? You can get a good mobile mic for under $200 with a dead cat (wind buffer).
@Weretherussos7 жыл бұрын
We're using the Rode VideoMic Pro with a deadcat. Fine for when we use the larger camera but still haven't found anything that works well with the phone. We didn't like the Rode mic's they make that work with phones.

You're from L.A.? No wonder you love RV life. I moved to NorCal 45 years ago with no regrets. Just as crazy expensive, but one can usually get a shorter commute. I would love to have a van like yours for our convention trips, but we're retired, so no way could we afford a second home like that, and our Class C engine died. :( Your audio is fine, unless you want to spend $$$.

Well the AC can run for about 3+ hrs of the battery ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp7chauIf5eDb80 - end of video) but unless it's hot out, the van stays very cool with the vents open and fan on.
