I do a lot of winter outdoor stuff including lots of hiking and backpacking and often spend winter nights in a tent or unheated cabin. I love hanging out for the long dark evenings with a couple of thimbles full of scotch, my pipe, and a book if in a cabin or ipod if tenting. All this hanging around in temps down to minus 20 can get cold, and I found myself getting chilled even with all my upper puffy layers and a hat on, particularly if I wasn't ready to get in my sleeping bag. So I got these three or four years ago. What a delight! They've helped me be warm and comfortable sitting around for hours in temps as low as about minus 28. I have also worn them in my zero degree bag to take me down to that lower temp, wearing a light puffy top too. Finally I've worn them under a light shell for several really wicked cold and windy ascents. They are very light and take up less room in a pack than my former heavy fleece pants weighing twice as much and yet are warmer. Seem to be very well made. Highly recommend the WM Flash pants.

Your review is awesome brother. I'm down to these and this small cottage company ( goosefeetgear) where they custom make your down pants with overstuff options and full zippers or no zippers. After all said and done with the best options for warmth and full zippers they come to about same price. I've got a question for you. Do you consider the full side zippers an absolute must have? Thanks

@@jonnytacoma I have down pants without zipper and have a problem with the fact that I cannot put them on when wearing skiboots in backcountry. I just purchased another pair of half-down-pants from Pajak Sport (Ghost model - lenght down to the knee) to have it for fast skitouring missions. Otherwise I´m using fully zippered Moutain Hardware down pants (Nilas Bibs Shark) for cold winter camping (below -10). The last ones are great but too heavy for backpacking (I mostly used them when I take a sledge with me on a skitour).
